- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49I just tried this, and it didn't work for me.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -3/+40Replace "DOES" with "MIGHT" and you'd have yourself an accurate headline.
- Dasme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+38Don't like it, filter it. That's what the filter options are there for.
- a22e, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35No good:-( with a 1 gig PNY thumb drive and the latest firmware it didn't work for me.
- matthewaaron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31It would be nice if people would start confirming things like this BEFORE they post them on digg... just a thought.
- Omega697, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34From the "article":
"That's the theory anyways...
It would be nice If someone could confirm this ^^"
Since when does this pass muster? Inaccurate. - shit, on 10/12/2007, -5/+33@Shirokun: Why did you submit this if you don't have a Wii? Did you write this, too?
If so, way to get people's hopes up. - ST0N3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30i'm reformatting an old ipod to try it. i'll report what i find.
because technically an ipod is a harddrive.
:-D - victorycig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Um, the digg community likes to game. Duh.
- darkever, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26It's worse to confirm something is true without proof. This is inaccurate and misleading. Let me know when you've got fact, then I'll try it.
- Punisher2K, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23196 (currently) Diggs for ***** that doesn't even work. What the ***** people. Just because it has Wii in the title you just dig it?
- EbenieRosa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23I have an external 60 Gigs USB hard drive, I may decide to try it, but I've seen no indication that the Wii supports this format, although I hope it does because in all honesty the PS2 is Too much Gängelung for too much money.
- EbenieRosa, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24OMG I cannot believe I typed PS2! Fu...errr....dammit!
Seriously though, I have officially adopted the Gängelung for use in all my PS3 complaints :) - Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22What's worse, is that unless you put "4: ??? 5: Profit!" the cliche doesn't work.
- ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18You see... digg has a couple of neat features for filtering content.
1) You can Add/remove topics to what you see with the link to the left.
2) I can block dumbasses like you, so I am oblivious to your ignorant complaints. - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21Wow... I can't wait to get home to try this with my USB thumbstick... I have doubts that it will work though.
Can anyone varify this? or at least try it with similar devices? if a USB harddrive works, then at least that Wii fault becomes null. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I tried a fujifilm 256MB and it didn't work for me either. I got the green LED (meaning its getting power), but it never switched over to orange (which means its connected as a drive).
- a22e, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I am getting ready to try this. I will let you know in 10 min if it works (for me) or not.
- seattle98104, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18i dugg your coment because you said wii.
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -8/+25Shirokun: You're an idiot.. all recent ipods work as a usb mass storage device like all thumb drives out there. Either do some research before you post 'what you think', or don't post at all.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16This doesnt work.
I do expect them to work in the future, once Nintendo gets the updates rollin. - shit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15They're on the back.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16"The iPod does not use generic USB drivers, so this does not seem extremely likely."
I'm pretty sure it does...I've plugged my iPod into loads of computers and it comes up as a mass storage device without third party drivers. - reconbot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17Microsoft has made sure that will never happen. The NTFS speck is closed and they won't share it.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15So lets get this straight... it doesn't work... at all... for anyone. It wasn't researched, and it wasn't written by someone with a Wii. It was crudely translated from some Spanish pages and then posted as a Google document. No sources were even mentioned as to where this information supposedly came from.
Great article! - dxprog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15ditto. dugg as inaccurate
- techlinks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I can confirm that this does not work. I have the newest Wii firmware, a Fat32 formatted 3GB Harddrive and no SD card in the slot. The Wii does NOT recognize it.
But I have no doubt that Nintendo will release firmware sometime soon to support it. - xemulon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13i agree. the title is definitely misleading.
- iAmGeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Well, I just formatted my thumb drive to FAT32. I put a medium sized jpg file on it and made sure my wii had the latest updates. Plugged my drive into one of the ports in the back and got nothin. I went to the photo channel, and and to the SD card option and it just told me to insert an SD card. I unplugged it and plugged it back in at that point and still got nothing. Any other suggestions?
- op12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12time's up!
- jdstorer2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's very obvious that people do not read stories on digg. They just see headlines and either:
1) Digg it so that it will be in their favorites (for looking at later) or
2) Digg it because it says "[insert current popular item]" in the title.
Seriously, Kevin, we need a "Save for later" section separate from the diggs, so that we don't see this bloated ***** every time something "popular" in the headline shows up. - whitehornmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10XP only formats FAT32 partitions lower than ~32GB so that people would use NTFS instead.
- prodaea, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12tsk tsk. hater.
- EbenieRosa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Does not work, unfortunately this article is Innacurate, I repeat I actually just tried this now with a WD-Passport, does not mount, incompatible ; article is unaccurate.
- jaba1337, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11on the back top, behind the gamecube memory card slots
- defectDS, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Come on, everyone say it with me. One. Two. Three.
WHAT THE *****!?
This kid has to be the lamest exuse for someone grasping for attention. He says that it "DOES" Work, even though at the bottom of the page it says "That's the theory anyways... It would be nice If someone could confirm this ^^." Then he even goes the extra mile towards extreme hatred by admitting that he doesnt even have a Wii.
Child, you need some help. - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The fact that NTFS will never be supported has already been covered...
but I'd like to point out that FAT32 is the standard for portable RW media such as flash drives because it is the only filesystem format understood universally.
Linux, Mac, and Windows (and Wii, and cell phones, mp3 players, etc) all understand it. - ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8"But what is this really FOR?"
A USB keyboard so you can use the browser without the on-screen keyboard and Wiimote? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7This doesn't work. I tried the photo channel music options, and excite truck music, no Thumb drive support.
- Starseed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Damn got my hopes up :-( Marked as Inaccurate
- Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7easier said than done
most computers' USB controllers can only act as hosts, not actual devices
it is a good idea tho. - n00bst3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10It doesn't work, I just tried it with my flash drive and no good. What was the point of the USB slots again?
- plague, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"What is with all this video game *****..."
Do you realize that this was submitted to the 'Gaming' section? Are you blind, or just retarded? - Psykechan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Well, this is as bunk as using your bluetooth phone to grab pictures from. While I'm not doubting that this sort of functionality may be included in a later update, it isn't here now.
Buried as inaccurate. - SourWorm, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8all the more reason then!
- EbenieRosa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Yeah it doesn't work. Does not work, unfortunately this article is Innacurate, I repeat I actually just tried this now with a WD-Passport, does not mount, incompatible ; article is unaccurate.
- crcurran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Do NOT digg first then read. oi!
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Hell I'd digg anything that ran on the blood of leprechauns.
Either way, this is the worst digg post I've ever seen. Usually they're just uninformed opinions or inaccurate political information, this is ridiculous. - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8same here.
INNACURATE (if not FAKE). - Niobium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I tried this quickly with a flash drive, and a 160GB external USB drive. Neither showed up under data management. I have the latest Wii updates, and both were FAT32. However, I do realize the one drive is bigger then the 120GB max suggested, but the flash drive was only 2GB.
