- psichopate, on 06/17/2009, -1/+29The blog itself was submitted a few days ago: http://digg.com/pc_games/Virtual_Homelessness_in_T ...
Great story! - Lucas123, on 06/17/2009, -4/+22Where can we donate money to get these poor avatars off the street?
- senae, on 06/18/2009, -0/+16Not if you put walls along the edge of the pool :)
- strictnein, on 06/18/2009, -1/+15And a link to the actual blog:
http://aliceandkev.wordpress.com/2009/06/09/alice- ... - slifty, on 06/18/2009, -0/+13Ahh, it looks like we as have come a long way from locking our sims in doorless houses.
- AllINeed, on 06/17/2009, -3/+16That's so sad! If they come back to Sims 2 world, one of my Sims families has a very successful business and will offer them a job. Guess the job market downfall hit even my favorite game characters. :(
- GyroLC, on 06/18/2009, -1/+14This is some of the best marketing EA could have hoped for. I'm buying it today.
- shutaro, on 06/18/2009, -2/+14This Sim City is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -0/+11So what have you been doing since then, killing cats?
- trafficlight, on 06/18/2009, -1/+9Not really. The guy is a good story teller. He interprets a lot of it.
- bigteebo, on 06/18/2009, -0/+8Are happy Sims in swimming pools still getting killed when people take out the ladder? Or did they change that in Sims 2?
- Takfam, on 06/18/2009, -1/+9I have never had a desire to play a Sims game until I read this blog. I'm hoping that this feeling will pass by lunch.
- trizzleatl, on 06/18/2009, -0/+8This plays out like a good dramatic movie. Excellent read! The game must have some great AI.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -6/+13Time to start sellin' that ass.
- jggr, on 06/18/2009, -0/+6Comment buried for being a kill joy.
- Takfam, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5With the girl's "clumsy" and "unlucky" traits, that would likely yield some painful (albeit hilarious) results.
- Junkyarddawg, on 06/18/2009, -0/+5"For him, it’s a small gesture. For her, this is one of the happiest moments of her life."
Hahahahahaha... Damn, I almost feel like trying Sims 3 now. - Kirsle, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4Sounds like a great idea for a custom hacked object.
- nepidae, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4Why wasn't this a link to an actual post? Next we will be seeing Digg submissions that link to Reddit that link to Blogspam that has a tiny link at the end to the actual content.
- Valyn, on 06/18/2009, -1/+5Always played the Sims like I did Spore and Lego's. I build stuff. Personally I think the game itself is inane, but I enjoy making the houses, etc. Sometimes I'll just let it run free, but i never actually play the story.
- SixFootSix, on 06/18/2009, -0/+4Kev is my hero.
- TrevorBradley, on 06/19/2009, -0/+2That and since Sims 2 onwards they've basically created never-ending achievements. They have a little more permanent presence in Sims 3. Characters have traits that make them significantly different from one another.
You have to be a bit creative to enjoy the game. My second to last character seduced and impregnated every woman he could get his hands on in town. It filled me with amusement to see all these babies with different colour skin from their fathers. For some reason nobody seemed to get angry. - MattBD, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2I haven't bought it yet, but I liked the Sims 2. I was a truly dreadful parent though - I lost count of the number of times my kids were taken away by the social services. I've tried to burn them to death in house fires, and once left out a toddler and a new born baby in the snow. And several times I got sims into the trap where they're so hungry they can't sleep for more than a few minutes, but if they make something to eat they're so tired they fall asleep while eating and fall face-first into their dinner.
- diggduggDOOM, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Do the cops kick them out of their park? Some homeless might be very happy to have their own park (with benches you can sleep on).
- OLTP, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2All my sim ever did was pee on the floor, then cry and clean it up.
- erkokite, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Cracked also had a good Sims 3 story the other day. It looks like a good game.
- gnixon70, on 06/18/2009, -0/+2Don't think too many people recognized the American dad reference
- fallingfaster, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1You could do that in Sims 2, but not in Sims 3--they climb right out the side of the pool.
- jggr, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2Is prostitution an option for employment in Sims 3?
/Haven't played Sims since the original, but I'd go back if I could make a neighbourhood of ho's. - Sirocco, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Obligatory comic link:
http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=122 - bonarez, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1great, another addiction.. just what I needed..
great story though, count me hooked - ericrous, on 06/22/2009, -0/+1Marketing or not, it's pretty clever and surprisingly addictive. If this isn't the work of a marketing genius, it certainly SHOULD be.
- ale8oneboy, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1Pretty creative I must say.
- appleofdischord, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2The AI in sims 3 is better than the sims 2. You don't have to babysit every second. In fact, I ran a family and just let the mom stay at home. The ai raised the children without issue.
- Valyn, on 06/18/2009, -1/+2I thought the same. The author is good enough that it just might be paid for by EA. Either way, it's a great read.
- okcomputer1982, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1You can find much enjoyment in watching and empathizing with the characters. It's a different kind of fun; deeper, like watch a movie about some a lot like you.
- allisonaxe, on 06/18/2009, -0/+1woohoo for money? well, if you make your sim marry another sim that is already rich, i guess..
- dinucuru, on 06/18/2009, -0/+0i love sims
- Enjina, on 06/19/2009, -0/+0I could never get into the Sims. But the two previous incarnations along with the current version, always yield some interesting material. I still think about this fan made video for Casimir Pulanski Day so dude did forever ago.
- inactive, on 06/19/2009, -0/+0lol
my first guy impregnated a women and when she moved in with me i left the son at the old house, whoops. - inactive, on 06/18/2009, -4/+4I seriously (yes, srssly) thought this was an Onion article, lol.
- inactive, on 06/18/2009, -1/+0You know i have the game but there isn't really much to do in town. The Sims 3 is basically about making a house.
- FOR3MAN, on 06/18/2009, -3/+1Does this economy know no bounds!?
We are all at risk if two upstanding citizens like this can't find a home. /panic - jmuh, on 06/18/2009, -3/+1I don't have the PC version yet, but I assume that when he says something like, "and she asks to be let in", he just means that he clicks on the door and selects the option to "Ask to be let in", etc.
It's still extremely creative. Whenever I wanted to torment my Sims, I'd just delete their toilets. - Bubs2626, on 06/18/2009, -7/+0Really? People are still playing the Sims? I haven't played this since 2003 when I would remove the steps from the pool so that my sim would die. I always got a kick out of watching the other sims mourn.
- brassknizz, on 06/18/2009, -16/+4My name is Braff Zacklin. I was an international race car driver. One day, a baby carriage rolled out onto the track so I swerved into the retaining wall to avoid it. The car burst into flames, but the baby miraculously survived. I was that baby.
- mxxz, on 06/18/2009, -19/+1Buried for making a new article about story that happened in a virtual city.
