- gfindlay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+90The real question is, WHERE'S THE VIRTUAL BOY?!
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -3/+53
- JuliusCaeser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38They forgot the Virtual Boy. No digg.
- Ashkc88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24Don't forget the Game-and-Watch. How about the Nintendo Arcade machines?
- JoCliMe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Oh, so Nintendo produces asexually?
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21The VirtualBoy was that child GameBoy had... except it had some nasty birth defects and didn't play well with others... so, they did what was right and had it put down... It was one of those family members no one wants to remember.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19I thought we all agreed we wouldnt talk about that anymore.
- ozkills, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16The price of 1 shirt to the UK.
1 Shirt: $19.95
Shipping: $57.23
TOTAL: $77.18
Which is £39.66
40 quid for a frickin t shirt! - Feanor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15No, actually, the NES is just God...the SNES and Gameboy are Adam and Eve.
- DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I like how it's designed to leave blank space room in the middle of the shirt so your massive erection while wearing it doesn't *****-block anything important. I'm buying one!
- rockforever, on 10/12/2007, -4/+14Undugg for inaccuracy: No smaller SNES, no digg.
- PDelahanty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10As the BASTARD CHILD, Virtual Boy is required to be on the T-shirt.
This is so inaccurate...and overpriced. - geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Well, it's not /exactly/ spam, but it is more or less a blatant attempt at advertising their product (the product being a Tee shirt with the image on it).
I wouldn't mod it spam, but I certainly wouldn't Digg it either; it's totally inaccurate, the SP evolved from the GBA, same with the 2nd gen DS and the first gen DS. But I guess that image wouldn't make for an interesting shirt (two more or less unforking branches from the NES). - aywwts4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Yeah, this is total spam, Now if someone blogged about it, copied a sentence or two and the image from the website, and added a little dash of personal opinion.
...Well thats just good journalism. - xBBx, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13This family tree is incorrect. Nintendo first started out as a trading card company. So it should be cards and then the NES. God, do some research next time
- Ashkc88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"In 1963, Nintendo Playing Card Company Limited was renamed to Nintendo Company, Limited by Hiroshi. Nintendo now began to experiment in other areas of business using the newly injected capital. During the period of time between 1963 and 1968, Nintendo set up a taxi company, a "love hotel" chain, a TV network, a food company (trying to sell instant rice, similar to instant noodles), and several other things (including a toy remote controlled vacuum cleaner called a Chiritory which was later seen as a two-player game in WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$ in 2003). All these ventures failed, except toymaking, where they had some earlier experience from selling playing cards. Then, after the Tokyo Olympics, playing card sales dropped, leaving Nintendo with a measly 60 yen in stocks."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo#Early_life - tkdan235, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I just played Virtual boy the other day. I love galactic pinball!!!!
- EricAnderton, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Correct.
It's also missing the game and watch series. Why are those relevant? Well, take a look at this:

... and then this:

You just can't beat a good design. Also, FWIW, if you come across one of these today, odds are it'll still work. - TheBrandman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is she wearing a chastity belt?
- DiggityDugged, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4what topic does it belong in?
- Goosey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Additionally some lines are questionable. The DS lite derives from the SP, and not the fat DS? Huh? And for that matter the SP derives from the GBColor and not the GBA? HUH?
Nice idea tho :) - Elranzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Technically, it needs cards at the top, then arcade games, then the Game & Watch... THEN the Famicom/NES.
- cyrillsneer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Game and watch ruled i used to love that stuff.
- xyqxyq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Um, no. It was an entirely new system. It's in it's right spot.
- xyqxyq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think it makes more sense with their configuration.
The GBA, GBA SP, and GBM share a parallel relationship. They are different cases of the same hardware (I know that's obvious but I feel the need to restate it). They were developed in the same generation. Thus, you do not move down a level in the tree. It's more sensible to draw the line to the GBM/GBA SP from the GBC to GBA line because if you drew it directly from the GBA or placed the GBM/GBA SP down one level it would suggest that it was an entirely new generation. Same goes for the DS/DS Lite. I think there is nothing wrong with the tree, except where the hell is the virtual boy?.
But then again, why the hell did they put the GB Pocket on the next level instead of next to the original GB?
Just my opinion. - betterth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't like the tree at all. Clever but not done right at all. Consoles are fine but the handheld tree is messed up, probably in the interest of space.
The GBA SP did not derive from the Gameboy Color, but rather from the GBA itself. And similarly, the DS Lite is a direct decedent of the DS, just as the Gameboy Pocket is of the Gameboy.
Oh well, it's cute I guess. - Jarasmen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Be sure to check out the girls model shot as well"
And also be sure that no girls will check you out while wearing this.
Heh, just kidding. Still, I don't like the design that much. - dabomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No NES Top Loader, SNES Mini, or VIrtual Boy. Other than I like it.
- sctechguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I believe that this article is bringing out the true geek in more than one person on Digg...
- OllyMoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I designed this shirt. The VB was left off because it didn't really 'fit' anywhere. I debated putting it on the back but I thought that might look kinda gimmicky.
The handheld tree is slightly inaccurate, but only for aesthetic reasons. - ICSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1link in the title? ...
- rpike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed. @tkdan235 - Galactic Pinball is by far the best video game pinball ever. Also the only video game I ever got my father to play. He logged more VB time then I did.
- gravylookout, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Agreed, there are some strange cousins out there that I guess don't qualify for the family tree. And shouldn't Famicom be at the top? Otherwise, cool shirt. I might just have to get me one of those.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they're saying the GBC is the parent of all 3 GBA's...
- Kinsbane, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Agreed. No Virtual Boy no care.
- zydeco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Game and Watch invented the d-pad. Totally needs to be in.
- Misanthrope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think they spelled "Hadoken" wrong.
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- phr0ze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree completely, The GB Pocket is in the wrong position and the Virtual Boy is missing. Also, I see no point in listing all the Nintendo Company ventures and products, this shirt lists a specific line of their products.
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seeing the criticism and analysis of the tree's branching, "Nerdyshirts" isn't nerdy enough for the people around here.
- ggko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Agreed, there are some strange cousins out there that I guess don't qualify for the family tree. And shouldn't Famicom be at the top?"
Plus the half-dozen or more pong type consoles that preceeded the Famicon. But the chart is US-centric, so I'll forgive that. - Osiriscky3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I love my virtual boy.
- cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1normally i hate hipster "ironic" t-shirts that marry technology with nostalgia (isn't the 90's over already!) but that's a sweet ass shirt!
- WeeklyGeek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Much better than most of the Hot Topic crap. I don't want some stupid slogan on my shirt, I just want icons and art. Not what someone else thinks is hilarious, because for the most part seeing a pirahna plant with the words "byte me" under it isn't funny.
- qualish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1zoh. my. god?
- dabomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1uh...the SP and GBA play the same games. they wouldn't give it a new level. The GBA is just the older brother of the SP it doesn't mean the GBA didn't influence it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I wish the "Love Hotel" was on this shirt
- nklepper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah! I love Nerdyshirts.
And that guy is a looker, if I dont say so! - Mistic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wheres the Nintendo Q too?
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When each level should contain compatible systems it is still wrong. The Gameboy Color is a different kind of machine then the GBPocket and many of the later GBC games are incompatible with the Original Gameboy.
