- bigmuffpi, on 10/15/2008, -5/+45Any love for Midgar?
- ursername180, on 10/15/2008, -0/+31How could you NOT love that towering citadel?

dugg for final fight - physco827, on 10/15/2008, -0/+24Don't get me wrong, Myst was a good game. But that little island isn't a city, city 17 should be there hands down.
- littlefury, on 10/15/2008, -3/+23Raccoon City
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -3/+19I believe we're scraping the bottom of the barrel for "top" lists.
Oh *****, it's a MrBabyMan submission. I understand now... - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+15You are correct: City 17 should be #1, with Ravenholm running a very close second.
But we don't go to Ravenholm. - abarysh2, on 10/15/2008, -0/+15you have an annoying laugh
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -3/+16All on one page: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/industr ...
- wexmajor, on 10/15/2008, -3/+15I kind of doubt that this guy has played very many games.
- Mujokan, on 10/15/2008, -0/+11A few random ones that come to mind for atmosphere
Carceri from Planescape: Torment
Rubacava from Grim Fandango
Innsmouth from Call of Cthulhu
New Radius from Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure
Vault City from Fallout 2 (I just like the atmosphere you get from the contrast)
Lost Heaven from Mafia: City of Lost Heaven
But City 17 is probably the most atmospheric of the games I've played. - JeanNiBee, on 10/15/2008, -0/+11Vault 13, New Reno, New California Republic
The Enclave....
Fallout FTW. :) - hayashi, on 10/15/2008, -0/+10No City 17 or the Citadel, not even Midgar from FF7? Bury this list.
- fakesinatra, on 10/15/2008, -5/+15My List:
1. Liberty City
2. Rapture
3. Midgar
4. Silent Hill
5. Metro City (it was pretty damned detailed for the time)
And I'll wager that in a month we can put "Future" Washington D.C. (Fallout 3) on that list. - blackgt93, on 10/14/2008, -2/+11Such a lovely, lovely little town.
- speedk0re, on 10/15/2008, -1/+9Absolutely no excuse for River City - River City Ransom not being #1. Where else do you have restaurants where you can order a smile for free and a Merv Burger for only $2.00
- anderzole, on 10/15/2008, -5/+12Big world from Super Mario Brothers 3
- goldfenix, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6Am I the only person who played Planescape: Torment?
The City of Doors was astounding both for it's breadth and depth. - mjovic, on 10/15/2008, -6/+12Hyrule anyone?
- Eze2k, on 10/15/2008, -0/+6why so seriously?
- pyroglass, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5I am still waiting for a top 1 list that spans 5 pages
- lennybird, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5You read my goddamn mind. Before the digg page even loaded I said, "City 17 better be on that ***** list."
- coheedcollapse, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7...if you're a snobby bitch. I grew up on Final Fantasy. My first RPG ever was FF2 US (FF4 Japanese), and since then I've been obsessed with the series. Granted, they've become a little less impactful (FF3/6 is still my favorite), Final Fantasy games are still incredibly fun to play and interesting. I just replayed FF7-9 and I can't believe anyone would pan them. VII and VIII are incredible and action packed, IX, while a bit odd, has an incredibly deep story line and wonderful character development. If you don't like IX but you liked the older ones, you haven't given it a chance (probably because the main character has a tail or something superficial like that).
- PabloIV, on 10/15/2008, -2/+7I don't know if the original Myst island counts as a city, its barely larger than my backyard.
- coheedcollapse, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5I was going to say that. Midgar deserves the spot far more than Metro City.
- FLarsen, on 10/15/2008, -0/+5PabloIV is nearing -17 diggs. Let's not stop now!
- bstockwell, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4It's higher on the list than 5
- alperea, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4It's in Kalimdor.
- malignatius, on 10/14/2008, -10/+14A list with fewer then 4 entries is not a list.
Buried for not including Rubacava! - WesleyD, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4That's more like a kingdom than a city.
- inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4Too many pesky kids running around Stormwind.
- windmarble, on 10/15/2008, -0/+4That was the first "City" I thought of too. Who doesn't like zombies?
- Greyscale88, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Fourside ftw
- psibladeZX, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3I dont know about you but Onett would be the bomb to live in... that or Twoson
- Heinekenator, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3Dugg for Grim Fandango reference.
- eyeWired, on 10/15/2008, -1/+4Christ! Stop paginating this kind of crap! I know you're hard up for those FOUR extra page views, but it's ridiculously annoying!
- skokage, on 10/15/2008, -2/+5Poor list in my opinion. I honestly didn't think there was that much increase of city design from GTA3 to 4, just better textures to use.
Pretty sure from what i've seen of future DC in fallout 3 that city will blow these 4 out of the water. City 17 from HL2 as many people have said should be at the top. Midgar from FF7 was pretty awesome too.
And the only reason the city from final fight would be on there is for nostalgia purposes, and even still there were more immersive city environments created even back then. - Scrappy1850, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3i have voted for Haggar in every election since 1989
- Apocalyptic0n3, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3New Mombasa was a pretty good city as well. Though... it's been destroyed so perhaps we will have New New Mombasa in the future games.
- petebot, on 10/15/2008, -0/+3The Citadel
City 17
Vivec
Rapture
Telos - FredFredrickson, on 10/15/2008, -1/+4No Stormwind? Nothing from KOTOR or Mass Effect? Gears of War?
And... Myst? Myst wasn't a city. The city in Riven was pretty amazing at the time, but there wasn't anything like that in Myst.
Lame list. - pigeonoverlord, on 10/15/2008, -1/+3Lame list. Myst? Really? Myst is the furthest thing from a city that I can imagine. No City 17? I would even have accepted Ravenholm. Stormwind or most cities in WoW.
Buried for being a ***** list with only four cities if you can even call some of them cities. - inactive, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2haha you bought Jade's game.
- Havoc67, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2dugg for myst...great game
- OldBlue, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2That is just a horrible list.
- samfishercell, on 10/15/2008, -0/+2A top 4 list? Really? Either we have really small attention spans, or Popular Mechanics did an incredibly small amount of thinking and research.
