.............................. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -4/+130The fact that he believes gamers in general are stupid enough to believe this ***** is what pisses me off the most.
- aschocobo, on 10/12/2007, -7/+130oh? that's the excuse they're giving now?? but didn't they say, a while ago, that the reason rumble was removed was because it couldn't be incorporated with motion sensing into the controller?
http://tinyurl.com/23xupc
*sigh* sometimes, i do wish the *****-for-brains talking heads at sony would just shut up and not talk. why is it so hard for them to admit that the reason rumble is absent is because of the immersion lawsuit? everyone knows it, and every lie and ***** excuse they try to spin around it just makes them look even more foolish and stupid. they can't even keep track of their own lies now.. - mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -7/+116I hear in Playstation 4, the controller is going to be a single joystick with a button on the side.
- asif5th, on 10/12/2007, -30/+120***** Sony
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -6/+90LOL...Sony goes backwards to the original PSOne controller and tags on a gimmicky motion sensor and calls the rumble feature "last gen!" Classic...pure classic!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+92The best trick the Playstation 3 did was convincing the world its games don't exist.
- joehobbes, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73So they are BEHIND last generation now?
At least the Dreamcast has rumble as an add-on option.... - Sarki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+68It's a dangerous thing to say too because what will they do when they add it back?
- lofiboy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+71Yeah Sony, I guess making money is soooo last generation.
Why don't you guys just stop talking and make some GAMES? - MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+64@Cheezit
You are correct. Originally, Sony claimed motion sensing was a gimmick and said that it would never work. They also stated that they would never use a gimmick to try and sell their consoles. - CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -2/+61Next Sony will tell us that "fun games" are a last generation feature as well.
- MouseCircus, on 10/12/2007, -3/+57That was their original excuse, but it was quickly disproved by both Immersion, and by the fact that Nintendo's Wii Remote easily does rumble and tilt sensing. You'd think a company as technologically "superior" as Sony would have no trouble combining both rumble and tilt sensing.
Then, they quickly changed their excuse to price. Kaz Hirai stated in an interview that rumble was cut in order to lower production costs.
Phil Harrison apparently didn't get the memo though. - SnuKs, on 10/12/2007, -6/+60What a spin.
And yet they still have the design of the original PSX controller.
Sony.. you disappoint me. - lordcalvin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56I Heard it was because the rumble threw off the SIXAXIS accelerometers... hmm
Yay Wii - CheezIt9109, on 10/12/2007, -4/+53@Sarki: You are under the mistaken impression that Sony cares whether they make themselves hypocrites.
All they have to do is add it back, and act like this never happened.
I'm curious. Did Sony say something about Nintendo's motion sensing when it was first announced? I thought they ridiculed it, but that may have been the fanboys... - Puppetx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50Gee, that's funny, I coulda swore that 2 of the 3 current generation consoles include rumble....
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+50Fun is soooo last gen!
- lofiboy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51Hell, the N64 had a rumble addon.
It was pretty original at the time until Sony remade their SNES controller with handles twice to "innovate" as they call it. - diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+49Apparently, they're going to use something called a "cartridge" system. Disc media is being phased out due to production costs.
- PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46From the same interview with Gamebiz:
# On negative press: Mr. Harrison isn't phased at all, pointing out that those who have purchased a PS3 have been naught but satisfied thus far. He goes on to say that negativity originates from "a fairly narrow section of the media" (Time Magazine and New York Times BURN) and that if there "were genuine criticisms, then of course we'll address them, but there's nothing that bothers me." Nothing at all?
# On PS3 price drops: Sony feels under no pressure to drop the price of the PS3 this year, expressing comfort with their current strategy and the level of software currently available.
- http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/26/sonys-phil-harrison-no-pressure-to-drop-ps3-price/ - Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44Yeah, buttons are last gen noob, it's just gonna be a DVD player.
- saleem, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42Sony: a case-study in the making.
- Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -9/+43Yeah, playing games is last generation too. DVD FORMATS 4 LYFE!!!
- TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+37I thought the rumble in CoD2 on the Xbox360 worked pretty well.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36WAIT! YOU MUST TRY RESISTANCE FALL OF MAN!
You know, the same game that got ANNIHILATED by Gears of War. - YoshDestroys, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35I think they have a point. You don't need a rumble feature to watch Blu-ray movies.
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31You sure love your PS3, huh?
- benitojuarez, on 10/12/2007, -6/+35n64 INVENTED rumble.
- Appox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Anyone who has used a Wiimote to browse the channel section and stuff will know that rumble is ***** brilliant, give it up sony.
- zm634, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29Sony: Games are last-gen. The future is PS3. Are you going to be there?
Wasn't the whole point of the "dualshock," the shock part? and that there were two of them? - TheThirdRider, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27they also have developed a new data recovery and repair system. simply remove the cartridge, invert and blow forcefully into it.
- twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27Rumble is last gen, the PS3 is flying off of shelves faster than they can stock them, and the internet is a series of tubes.
- Korexz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25I heard the PS4 is something you just plug into your TV and the words "BEND OVER" and "INSERT YOUR CREDIT CARD HERE" flash on screen.
Of course you will need that fancy credit card reader add on... only $150. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+27When the Xbox 360 was getting a lot of negative press about its dashboard, the lack of backwards compatability, and the small amount of games available, what did they do about it? They worked their asses off to push more games, kept working on b.c., and created constant updates to the dashboard to make it better and easier to navigate. They even improved their service (although it's not perfect) when customers get the dreaded "red lights of death." One guy even got a personal phone call and apology with brand new systems from Peter Moore after his game store had four Xbox 360's die within the first year.
The reality is: The Xbox 360 team cares about its customers and wants to KEEP them. Sony doesn't give a ***** about their customers because they know you'll buy their system as long as they secure Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy. They could smear their system in ***** and piss and still be laughing all the way to the bank when the newest MGS or FF releases. - shutz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28I guess coming out with good games on launch is also "last-gen".
Ooooooh! BURN! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+26What? Rumble screws up the accelerometers? I guess thats why my Wii is pretty much dead on accurate and responsive, right?
Sony is so full of *****, all they do is put down the competitors while offering NOTHING themselves but excuses and lies and spin. - shutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Dismissing Wii Sports as a tech demo is the biggest mistake you can make: it's the console's bestselling game (in markets that don't bundle it with the console, it's outselling Zelda!) and it's almost single-handedly selling consoles. Try it before you dismiss it.
- Orlex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Sony...Worried about price?
Where the hell am I? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Sony's need to demonstrate control over EVERYTHING that happens to them is both amusing and frightening. They sound like frightened grade-schoolers with that kind of backpedaling.
Microsoft: *releases the 360 before the PS3*
Sony: THE NEXT GENERATION DOESN'T START UNTIL WE SAY IT DOES!!!
Nintendo: *releases the Wii and outsells the PS3 hand over fist*
Intellectual property rights: *prevent Sony from using rumble*
Sony: OH YA? Well, uhhhh, we never wanted it anyway! Yeah guyz! Only losers and dweebs who aren't FUNKY-FRESH enough to realize how cool the PS3 is want rumble!
Microsoft and Nintendo: *both incorporate rumble features into their controllers, to the delight of gamers everywhere*
It's a wonder to me that every single Sony exec hasn't been systematically fired by now. - danc4498, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23If rumble is last gen, then why can't Sony include it in it's new generation? When technology advances, usually it'll encapsulate the older technology in the newer. That's like Microsoft scrapping their Xbox live service because online gaming was "last gen."
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25Have you never played a sports game with rumble? Ever?
- MateyO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20And Wii is a 'last-generation' console, with rumble, for non-gamers. Who made the right tactical decision?
- Supernova36, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Swollow your pride for one second Sony. Jesus Christ.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Sony is like a raving alcoholic that can't ever admit to being an alcoholic. They've got so many issues that if they just ADMIT to and ADDRESS, their "non-existent" negativity portrayed in the media would literally disappear. When asked about the online development and creating a competitive atmosphere to xbox live, Phil said something like 'thats something a small percentage of our fans care about so while its not our main priority we're looking into it'. Wow, ok buddy. I guess having an internet connection and online multiplayer is LAST GEN too.
Same with this rumble crap. Seriously, its not about them REPLACING rumble with motion controls due to issues with them conflicting. We know they don't conflict becuase of the Wii remote, which has both. That's a copout, fair and simple. Ask anybody if they'd like to have rumble in their controllers, even in NEXT GEN SYSTEMS WITH 4 DIMENSION GRAPHIX AND VIRTUAL REALITY CONTROLS, everybody still likes the feeling of rumble. The chainsaw attack in Gears of War wouldn't be half as sweet as it is without the intense rumble that you feel everytime you do it.
Sony needs to stop denying their failings and own up to them. That way, they can say: hey maybe this is something we should improve? If they don't even admit its a problem, its never going to get fixed. ***** Sony, once again. - Yukos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20Why are you defending Sony when everything they say insults your intelligence? Or do you work for Sony? Are you a Viral Advertiser?
- Yukos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18This time next year Sony won't have a big enough install base to keep any of those "gems" exclusive
Also, you can have GT5 and you can also stomach paying for all those micro-transactions online to buy the cars and courses needed to play it. If I were you, I wouldn't celebrate Sony's attempts to rape your wallet. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19I bet everyone who bought a PS3 went to the settings to try to find the rumble feature that they can turn on.
When I bought the PS3, I spent about 5 mins finding the rumble feature in the settings but I couldn't find it. Then I searched online and I was pissed to find out that it was not included. I never expected it to not have the rumble feature.
Rumble is only outdated if they replace it with a new rumble technology. - hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I think of "last generation features" in terms of no longer an option for the current generation but manditory, not in terms of no longer part of the current generation. Such as, 8-bit color is a "last generation feature, because the current generation is supposed to generate more than 8-bit color.
