- jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -5/+40I'll admit - my Wii has had 2 occurrences where the remote would lose sync with the console and I would have to re-sync them again. Let's just accept the fact that both consoles have some problems. Or we can just blame Bluetooth.
- chad3405, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24My 360 controllers have NEVER had to be re-synced the whole year i have had it.
- PFS1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Yet another victim of tabbed browsing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -15/+30So how long till we get recklessx, whereami, microdot, 23r17i05o42n, and the other three sony fellators-- I mean apologists-- in this thread trying to downplay _this_ one?
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I had the exact same problem, it happened right after the first update, then again about 30 min later. hasn't happened at all since then, but I was freaked out, i thought maybe the update bricked it, I had to unplug the wii to make it resync.
- digitalrift, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16this, ladies and gentleman is what you get for being an early adopter. Console manufacturers screw you. Their hardware could be faulty, the software could be something that crawled out of the bowels of the underworld, and they of course would not care because they made their deadline.
Thanks for the public beta testing for the rest of us with the sense to wait. - haelios, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13The 360 hasn't had any problems with it's controller's connectivity as far as I know (I've had a 360 for over 6 months and have never had a problem whatsoever with the controller, except some minor niggles with the Dpad).
- TylerDurden76, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I was one of the few who got a 360 at launch, and I've not had one problem with it. So I'm glad I was an early adopter.
Same with the Wii.
The Sony one though, I knew to hold off on. - idntunknwn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Now I can't say whether the claims are accurate or not. All that matters is that your attitude is pretty *****. I think that's enough reason to digg down a post.
- giffen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Used Google to search the forums:
' site:http://boardsus.playstation.com/ SixAxis Freezing '
And there is little mention of the controller causing freezing. Just something about the PS3 Freezing on the start-up logo screen. - raltschwager, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yes Cory70, Sony must die, because we always see the best in Microsoft when there is no competition. /sarcasm
- amk29j, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I haven't had any problems with my Wii remote. The only problem I have had was once I was sitting down so low and the sensor bar was so far away from the tip of the dresser that the remote couldn't see the sensor bar. But that was my fault...
Haha.
But I'm not surprised that people are having problems with ANYTHING wireless. Did/Does the XBox 360 controller have any problems? - pixelate, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8You can't seriously be implying that the earliest 360's were more reliable than Wii's and PS3's are proving to be...? You got a good one and... so far so good, that's all. (As did I, it's been almost a year now).
Plenty of early adopters got screwed on the 360 launch product as well, you know that. Microsoft extended their warranties (till tomorrow!) which was a good move on their part. Hopefully Sony + Nintendo will handle whatever issues arise as well. - seanthebond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You have some real anger problems.
Your parents didn't love you as a child did they? - beatbox360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@WhereAmI
So you're basically saying that because one guy doesn't have a problem with his PS3, that all of the people that do on the PS3 boards are talking "*****".

Somehow I doubt it. - Dhalsim007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6damn you Bluetooth!!!!
- Brian0908, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I haven't had any problem with neither my Wii remotes or sixaxises, but no viberation sucks.
- jcact, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I did a search for "ps3 controller problem" on the google and this is the first link.
http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/ps3-controller/ps3-bluetooth-controller-issues-216762.php
Unlike this article, at least it is first hand and not hearsay. Also there is no reason to think the writer is biased. - HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Had that yesterday, had to turn the Wii off and back on to fix it. Even resetting it and reconnecting to the remote didn't fix it.
I agree, I've had my 360 a year (well, until it broke Nov 7 and MS hasn't returned it to me yet) and I've never had any real problem with the controllers, at least when I'm in the same room as the 360 in view of the TV. If I take it to the kitchen, the audio drops out, but it returns when I come back. - blankoboy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Digg me down if you like but I say it was a rush job and end customers are just getting screwed out of the hard earned cash.
I say save your money...don't feed the DRM monster SONY that was so eager to rootkit all our PC's last year. - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7It's Bluetooth and Blu-ray.
This really isn't that difficult people. - nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I've never had trouble with my Wiimotes, other than they went a bit funny right before the batteries finally died...
But when I tried out the PS3, I was very puzzled by this. Everytime I went to the menu the controller stopped working...and I'd push everything and try every button and direction...then eventually, even after trying it a couple times, holding the Playstation button on the SECOND controller would get it to see it...and then following that holding it on the first one would finally get things working...it was really weird and sure as hell didn't leave me with good impressions... - raltschwager, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm with MrMuffMeat. While I don't hate Sony, they do need to experience a catastrophic failure like they did to the Dreamcast so that they can get off their high horse and produce a machine on the level of the original Playstation and PS2. None of this Bluray crapola and ridiculous "supercomputer" hype that led up to the PS3. I'm just glad the hype had no effect on their competition this time around.
- hamstereater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I miss rumble :[
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Meanwhile, on the xbox 360 people continue to play while sony players wish to.
- charlescheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The wiimote starts acting goofy when the batteries are low, and I get a lot of connection issues then. When the batteries are fresh, I haven't had any connection issues. I don't know about you guys, but I'm going through batteries like crazy. I wish someone would get a rechareable dock to market fast. I know there are some in the works.
- Lobut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Yeah, is this an actual problem?
- mokeyjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Hm, never had trouble with my Wavebird. What makes Bluetooth superior?
- espion4ge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I don't know if Sony can really do anything to fix this problem - it's a problem with Bluetooth technology in general. I thought Bluetooth technology was great until I got a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse set and my connection would reset itself every hour while I was playing a FPS. Needless to say the keyboard and mouse are now packed up and collecting dust in my closet.
What is Sony going to be able to do to prevent Bluetooth signals from dropping if other Bluetooth devices suffer from the same problems already? - p0wl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4So THIS is the faulty controller problem 23r17i05o42n has been posting about!
- twesterm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Reading around the comments and the article, there was a good point. Even if the PS3 was released late, it was still released too soon. It really should have been released Spring 07 or Christmas 07.
Of the three options they had (the two above plus Christmas 06), they all had their ups and downs. Sony just decided to not miss out on another holiday. If they released on Spring or Christmas 07, they would have had these bugs worked out and they would have had a good supply of PS3's so there wouldn't be this horrible price gouging and everything else.
Just because of the price, I really think they should have released Christmas 07. That would have given Sony plenty of time to work out the bugs (definitely not all of them, that's just not plausible), allowed them to have a good supply of PS3's, and they would have had a much more confident and smoother launch. All releasing in Christmas 06 got them is a terrible mediocre launch and A LOT of bad publicity. - Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"mading"...you have a spell check button you might want to use it.
- MrMuffMeat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3actually, I think most peoples hate for sony comes from the root kit issue last year, and the fact that they showed their arrogant asses at E3 this year when pronouncing that the "Next generation doesn't start until they say it does", and from the fact that they steal other companies ideas and try to make it theirs (wii controllers motion sensing, Microsoft's turning the sytem on with controller), the fact that they automatically assume that all HDTV's are 720p capable, when many are not and customers purchase the PS3 not knowing it won't display in 1080i. These are just a few reasons for it.
I could go on and on, but I don't really think that users want to read that much. But in short, most people do know why they hate Sony. - grzelakc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Surprise, surprise. The truth is, motion detection is not a simple thing to implement (properly). Nintendo took several years to perfect their technology and it's just about ready for prime time. The sixaxis stuff from Sony was a "johnny come late" kneejerk response to Nintendo and it backfired. For some reason they thought it was simpler to implement motion detection than to slap a new faster video chip into their console. That'll teach them some humility.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9Damn, wrong article. What the hell is wrong with me.
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6No, I want sony to fail and die.
- twesterm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Every system has their share of problems. Having one post where someone says they have a problem with x and another saying they have no problems at all doesn't disprove either post. It only means that every system has its problems (yes, even the beloved Wii) and not everybody are going to encounter those and those that do encounter problems don't always encounter them the same way.
The linked article isn't necessarily a fan boy article and it isn't an oh my God, PS3 sucks article, it's an article pointing out that a lot of people are having problems with their controllers. Does that mean everybody? No. Does that mean since someone who owns a PS3 hasn't encountered any problems so this article and every other negative PS3 article is false and is meant to hurt the PS3? No.
I have 1 friend that has a PS3 and he has controller problems. Should I assume that every PS3 has this same problem? Of course not. All it means is that there are controller problems. - Araya213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My wiimote hasn't had one single problem, aside from the battery life being understandably low, dont' matter though cuz I got rechargables.
- mredamon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2agreed. sony could use a slice of humble pie. but you's have to be a fool to want them to fail. ongoing console wars make the best gamer's paradise EVER.
- topbravo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mine has not had one problem since i bought it. Works flawless everytime. I also own a second batch PS3 with the firmware already implemented out of the box.
- DeadWisdom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Er, maybe it's isolated, but the controller I got with my Xbox360 lost its connection every minute or so (without exaggeration). But the other two I bought work great.
- beatbox360, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Controller specific issues

Also, read this thread, it's funny. A PS3 fanboy tries to say it's peoples own fault that their system is freezing up, but he ends up making the PS3 sound like it'll overheat no matter what.
http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=757057&query.id=8393#M757057
These PS3 boards are interesting. I didn't realize there were so many problems already. - killerofkiller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nothing to do with motion detection
- Marthinus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I do not have my PS3 yet, but I have lots of other bluetooth devices and I regularly have to re-sync them when I have connections open for a long period of time. That is the main reason my Logitech setup is wireless tech. instead of bluetooth.
- Cory70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not superior just more people bought it, like the ipod not superior but it has good marketing so people buy it.
- HurtLocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Update: Sony is going to exchange my PS3. Better luck next time I hope.
- Mudvillager, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think we should because Bluetooth is a piece of crap technology. Should've been buried five years ago. I still can't believe that they use BT instead of 802.11g in most phones today...
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5It's a shame.
Hopefully they'll release another version of the controller. - killerofkiller, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My wii has lost connection a few times. but hey, at least there are no reports of the sixaxis destroying 5,000 dollar TV's
- ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've updated the hell out of my Wii using an unsecured wireless connection someone in my apartment building is apparently running. Never had an issue with remote losing itself.
How cool would that be to have made a lot of progress through a game, haven't saved recently... and all of a sudden the controller loses itself? You just get to sit there and watch as you get your ass whipped while you try to get it to respond. Hahahah
To the people who said their Wiimote lost sync:
Did it happen during a game? Or was it just after an update?
In conclusion, PS3 is rubbish. Big Ups to p0wl! Niiiiiice. -
