- martinj88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The next SSB for the Wii won't use the Wiimote, instead it will use the GC and (hopefully) the classic controller.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Metal Slug Anthology lets you use every imaginable control scheme. Wiimote, Wiimote motion sensing, classic attachment, nunchuck, and a few more too. 3rd party FTW!
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10If you don't like the Wii Remote, why did you even buy a Wii? If you just want to play old games, go out and buy old used systems...
I suppose it's your money, go waste it if you really want. - cheez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7i didn't know that you could play wii games with the classic controller.
- grahamcase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You mean the variety of Apple stories?
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I never owned a Gamecube, so I was hoping you'd be able to play GC games with the classic controller... damn :/
- achoo5000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3to clarify, I think it depends on the game. The future may hold two types of wii games, classically controlled and wiimote controlled.
- nickpowers101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think Nintendo should push through a system update or something that allows Gamecube games to be played with the Classic Controller.
- rnelsonee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yup, wavebird receivers fit in the Wii slots. (I heard that several times, never tried it as I dont' have GC)
- terminalpariah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Honestly, I fully expect Nintendo to add classic controller support to Gamecube games *eventually*. The current setup is probably to help them clear out old Gamecube controllers from stores.
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2some Wii games will let you use other controllers?
i knew about the DS as a controller in some games
actually, this doesn't really surprise me
oh.. and most of it has been up on the Nintendo Wii website for a while
http://www.wii.nintendo.com/virtualconsole.jsp
despite me never having had a GC
I may end up getting a few cube games for my Wii....
just because the GC controller will have more use then just controlling GC games......
awesome :D - justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2not being able to play cube games on the classic controller is downright retarted.
i don't own a cube but i'm buying a wii....... i want to play some Cube games, but obviously i'll need to buy a cube controller to do it. I WONT be buying the classic controller.
Why would anyone buy a gimped controller? - dvdcr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hey guys, a question:
Is the wavebird compatible? cuz i dont want wires anymore - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Plus the range is incredible and batteries last forever.
- guybrush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sorry for one last piece of Wii advice -
I would get the Wavebird, if you can find it. You can play all of the GC and Classic games wirelessly. The control scheme isn't perfect for the Classic games, but it's a convenient controller to have. - grahamcase, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@ Zippo
Well, since the gamecube controller is only $5 more than the classic controller (at least, where I live) just get a GC controller instead of the classic.... - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thing is, I already own a classic controller... and I like it a lot more than the GC controller.
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ Zippo
Stop by Gamestop or EB, get a used one and save a few bucks. - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I traded in my cube when I decided I was getting the Wii, seems pointless to have both, but I did keep one of my wavebirds.
- Fluidity, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4That's all really confusing. They should have made everything playable with the included controller, it'll be a bit of a pain to go and buy other controllers if I fancied playing games for systems I've not owned. Oh well I guess they'll be lots of people selling them on ebay soon enough.
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2fuk... sorry
http://wii.nintendo.com/virtualconsole.jsp
(digg doesnt like that link for some reason)
stupid time-out - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nope, it's the fan club of ubgumpo or whatever it's called.
- fLaMePrO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well it's great for people who already own a cube (like me) cos I can simply use my old controllers to play all the new (or old) stuff! Screw the classic controller, I reckon the GC one would be better.
- MadMoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Zippo: What do you like better about the classic controller?
@hotbeefman: Is Metal Slug Anthology already released? Is it good? - gage006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One controller to rule them all..
- arcticstoat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Good to see that my old GameCube controllers are still going to be useful.
- mikeazorin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are actually some classic-styled 3rd party Gamecube controllers, so if you buy one of those, I guess you can't go wrong.
- Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yes it does, woah , woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, woah, slow down, woah , woah
- walterk29, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Direct link to chart: http://www.wickable.com/Wii_ControllerChart.png
- KaloFoxfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Huh. I just noticed... Aside from some third-party games that might require it, is there any point to buying a classic controller if you already have a gamecube one?
Other than being able to map the SNES's ABXY buttons to something closer to their natural positioning, of course. - Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6I assume you tried to reply to my comment, and yes, that was a joke. Should I explain it to you, or can you take it from here?
- fLaMePrO, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Hey, well thats the whole point: the Wii is a revolution in gaming, and you are trying to stop us from celebrating it? If you don't like all the Wii news, don't read it....but as you can see, it is very popular among most people.
- Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1[/sarcasm][/joke]
- Murdats, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I will go out and buy one
when they get released here in 2 weeks - grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I there anything know if I can play VC games with the DS as controller?
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I've said from day one the classic controller should have come WITH the wii
anyone with me? - Marthinus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Jip definitely still debatable. Just reading all the stories of stuff I need to buy separate to take full advantage of a Wii is sickening. Again Nintendo's PR wins, can't fault them on that, if only Sony was not so upfront about the REAL cost of their system.
They should have done the MS / Nintendo thing, make the system cheap but to really take advantage of the system buy x, y and z separate so at the end you pay $600 in installments. - doshindude, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I definately don't think you can play Wii games with a GC controller. it's incorrect.
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1"Wii is a revolution in gaming", oh please, that is very much debatable. We are yet to see any real evidence of a revolution in gaming taking place here. Remember, they said the same thing when the Nintendo Virtual Boy first came out.
I mean, I can accept an influx of Wii stories popping up days before and after the release but now it's gone too far.
Do we really need more Wii fan trivia like, what controllers work with the Wii? Or mind numbingly exciting stories like, "Wii Virtual Console Games Can "Suspend" & Be Played From That Point Later, or "A Brand New EXTENDED Wii Commercial (2:00) " ??
Me thinks Digg can do without them.
Let me help you fans out {who I respect, the Wii looks like fun for sure)...

Have fun, but please, stop flooding our beloved Digg with more Wii trivia. - scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Is this supposed to be a joke?
- yukevster, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Hey, come On guys....Is this Digg, the user driven social content website? Or the ...
Nintendo Wii Fan Club ??
I mean, enough with the damn Wii already. Just go out, buy one and be done with it f' cris' sake!! Sick of scrolling through Wii stories.
Give me back the glorious variety of Digg before Wii !!!!!!!!!! - scabbers, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3No, I meant is the wii controller chart meant to be a joke.
The world doesnt revolve around you, Cglass :P - Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -25/+5Clearly the Wiimote is the most useless of them all, that's why I gave mine to the dog as a chew toy. For some strange reason though, when I'm using the good ol' Wavebird, random ***** will get clicked on the screen. I hope Nintendo fixes this soon.

What is Digg?
