- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+51I seriously need to get a ds lite :(
- RichPowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+30The SimCity series would be 1000 times better if they brought back the alien spider monster robot from SC2000...
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22*happy phone operator voice* We're sorry, your tiny voice yelling at Blizzard to make a Warcraft DS game has been vastly out-screamed by everyone yelling at Blizzard to make a Starcraft DS game. Please try again later.
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Most moden PCs have a hard time with SC4 because it is so resource intensive and buggy, there is no way a DS would be able to handle it. Regardless SC3000 was the pinnicle of the series anyway, by far the best one to date.
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17I always thought 2000 was the pinnacle of the series, but that's just my opinion
- Dihuko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Ya, I want to get a DS Lite too. I currently have a DS fat, but the light looks so much better.
- outz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14i emailed nintendo support about my broken ds lite (touch screen would freak out at times) they emailed me back asking me to call... i called, they asked me a few questions.. then said they could either a. send me a postage-paid box for me to ship it to them in (for free) or b. send me a new ds lite w/ a postage paid box for $5. I chose the second option and got a new ds lite in 2 days.
- Klowner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Now all I want is an RTS game for the DS.. Warcraft DS.. yes, yes that sounds excellent, YOU HEAR ME BLIZZARD!?
- bbatsell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Yeah, 2000 had the best of all worlds. 3000 wasn't bad at all though.
- bontaq, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I would have prefered it being based off of 2000, but 3000 is ok too. As long as I can ignite my entire city in a moment of anger.
- masamunecyrus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11@texpundit:
Have you checked your power button? I witnessed a similar problem at a Meijer DS Lite kiosk and upon further inspection I noticed that when you push the power button (slider?) up and it turns on, when you let go, the power button doesn't go down all the way. Try making sure your power button doesn't get stuck somewhere in the middle between all the way up and all the way down.
Otherwise, there's always the Nintendo help & support hotline. :-P - mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10i wonder why they are using 3000 and not 4 as the base... i guess it must be because of RAM or graphics or something....
- noodlez, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12i think that whenever this gets released, i'm going to buy me a DS lite. they've been releasing a lot of good stuff lately, no more of this nintendogs crap.
- Nailhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Sold.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Me wantee...
After playing every version for an extended period of time, I have to agree. 3000 was the best one they'd done. Graphics aside, SC4 was too goofy with all the extra modes and overkill. I just wanted to build my city, not fight crime or be a corrupt mayor. - kuroda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wonder if they are going to include Bowser as a natural disaster like in the SNES version of sim city. That was fun watching him run around and destroy the town a la Godzilla.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+72000 was released on gameboy advance already, so i guess this was the logical choice.
- hungarianhc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Wow great news! I've been waiting for a game like this for the DS lite!
- Zaggynl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7What he said, bring out SC/WC and Diablo for the DS!
I might even buy a console for the first time in my live :o - merdiesel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Another great choice for the DS, i will definitely be adding this to my massive stack of DS games.
- AaronMT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Nice, should be really good
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I actually really enjoyed 4 the most. For all of EA's knack of ruining franchises, Sim City was never ruined.
Although the Rush Hour expansion was nearly useless - the missions are just annoying and pointless - the only thing good about it was the traffic management tools it provided.
I didn't like Sim City 2000 because of how some of the things are a real big pain maybe just because of the technology availible at the time, like highways, subways, and other things. How the subways were made to look too 3D so that you couldn't tell where you were placing it. Or how about dealing with the piping, and how every single building had to be touching a power line or another building with a power line for it to work, whereas in Sim City 4 you didn't have to worry about it too much.
Sim City 4 was a litle dissapointing just because of how some things in 3000 were actually removed, but overall I personally think 4 was the best of the series and that Maxis should keep it up and put out 5 sometime soon (a good time would be when directx 10 is widely adopted) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Starcraft DS would be the way to go. There's so many SC freaks like me who are still clammoring for Starcraft 2 (and really pissed that they cancelled Ghost) that we'd all buy it...and Nintendo would probably sell a TON more DS Lites to other JUST for SC-DS. Hell, the touchscreen would be PERFECT for the interface.
I think it's time to start a letter-writing campaign to Blizzard. Anyone with me?
EDIT: HAHA! masamunecyrus beat me to it. - oGMo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4There is Age of Empires 2. I got it a week or so ago, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. The reviews are positive, and it looks pretty cool. This is the sort of thing I've thought the DS should focus on too, where the touchscreen really shines.
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Man, i want a DS...
- breaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4i will play this game till the point that my job is in jeopardy!
however, CIVILIZATION DS will make me quit my job and play my DS on the streets as a homeless person... plug in to an outlet at the public library during the day heh heh - wigging, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sweeeeet! Can't wait to get a hold of this one.
- JimmyB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sim City ported really well to the GameBoy Advance, so now that we have touch screen controls and an extra screen, I'd say it'll be awesome :)
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I agree with all of you. 2000 was great, but 3000 added a few things that 2000 was missing. 3000 should have been more of an expansion pack.
- Dragular, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4See, this is what I need to sell me on a system right now. Give me some good sandbox style games. At the very least it'll be better than trying to play SC3000 on my laptop and watching my battery wave goodbye.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@masamunecyrus
Thanks for the info. I'll check that...after I get home from work. ;) *thumbs up* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+13I need to fix (or get fixed) my DS Lite. Mine freaks and instantly shuts down if you hit the B button at the wrong angle...which makes playing any game other than Metroid Prime: Hunters nearly impossible.
That said: I can't wait until this comes out. *uberDugg* - zengonzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Now this is exactly the sort of game I want to hear is coming to the DS ..
Being able to develop something long-term is better when I can take it anywhere. I'm more invested ..
Are there any more good DS games that feature simulation / empire building / development?
I'd love to have a Civ, Rise of the Middle Kingdom or Patrician .. - boonesfarm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3SC is awesome, but how well will it port to a 4" screen? I can just see myself squinting while trying to run water lines.
Did somebody mention World of Warcraft on a DS?? God, I hope not. I'd end up dead from rolling my truck off of a freeway somewhere... and subsequently getting ganked! - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8I cant wait.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I bought my Lite in the hopes of future Wii compatability
I've got Suer mario bros., metroid, and brain age (who says its for seniors? not me. "because you are below 20 years of age, you can take your brain age with a grain of salt, as there is still brain development left for you to undertake" woohoo) - EricJD, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I might just buy a DS just to play SimCity.
- cogen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's really cool to hear. Yet another reason for me to go grab a DS.
I honestly haven't played SimCity since the Super NES version years ago, but spent many an hour messing around with it. - ArgyleCubist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5spectacular. now any idea on when it'll be released stateside? i'm not one for importing.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"tex I'm sure nintendo will fix it for free. they fixed a gba sp of mine with no warranty or anything"
Really? I've only had it a couple months, but didn't get the BestBuy extended crap...and Nintendo's website says that it would cost $75 to fix...which is ***** considering I've only had it a couple months and paid $130 for the thing. - asurroca, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow, this can't come out soon enough. I think I'm about as psyced about this as I was about New Super Mario Bros. ;)
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is so cool, and it fully supports the stylus too!
- RandomEngy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Man, 4 was so much better than 3000. I'm sad to hear that 4 won't be involved.
But why, oh why did they take out the arcologies? They were the coolest things ever. - droversoul, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2WoW on DS? lol, that would be sweet. I would love to play a MMORPG on a handheld.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or if they brought back Mario from Sim City 64 :)
http://64dd.emedian.net/64dd.net/content/games/64dd/released/sim_city_64/2.jpg - bevanl, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5I am a Simcity Fan and I am a member of Simtropolis.com, but the problem is I don't own a Nintendo DS, this might be a good reason to buy one.
- Zaggynl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1But there is hope: http://pc.ign.com/articles/728/728706p1.html
Might be rumors, but still.. - spiffyfitz, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3@Chompy:
Not many people have an extra $130 in their pocket, me included. - Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -12/+6So buy one, they're cheap as free.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+2"but didn't get the BestBuy extended crap"
that "crap" would be saving you alot of money right now...
