- Shawn4168, on 11/15/2007, -3/+72I can't stand those ***** poilers, either.

seems like lots of good reviews - DanteDefiance, on 11/15/2007, -9/+72Here's my grip, Assassin's Creed was called mediocre and repetitive by IGN and 1UP. The same folks who said Halo 3 was new and exciting. Note you IGN and 1UP, you're shooting at the same ***** over and over again. It's ***** ***** when a perfect game like Half-Life is over looked by mainstream crap.
Take it from a person who has played Assassin's Creed, if you loved Price of Persia this is right up your ally. Bottom line. - navster15, on 11/15/2007, -3/+61Oh get over yourself. The only reason you continue to play Missile Command and Asteroids are because they are the games you grew up with. Every generation does this. Hell, nowadays we see the Playstation 1 kids growing up and talking non-stop about how FFVII was the greatest game ever. 10 years from now we'll see people lamenting about how gaming was 'pure' in the Xbox 360 days or some *****. It never changes.
- inactive, on 11/15/2007, -2/+48Yes DO NOT READ THE REVIEWS as most have huge spoilers. Gametrailers is safe though.
- wakesabre, on 11/15/2007, -0/+45Penny Arcade has a good post explaining the different reviews:
http://www.penny-arcade.com/2007/11/14/#22310 - darkchild82, on 11/15/2007, -3/+41i know, i was a little surprised when Gamespot gave the game a 9.0 & 1UP scored it lower.
- themacx, on 11/15/2007, -12/+43don't read the 1up *****...POILERS!!!! I hate that!
- Evilstanley, on 11/15/2007, -4/+27Since when did a game rating from 7 to 9 = not good?
This game is going to be the *****, everyone knows it. I can't wait to assassinate some bitches. - lucidguru, on 11/15/2007, -8/+31The best way to judge if a game is good is to wait between 2 weeks and a month after the release... If people are still talking about the game then it's good... Even with games that get stellar 9+ ratings (e.g. Metroid Prime 3) you know it's not very good when it falls off the face of the planet. I'm sure the same is true for Assassins Creed.
- atomicpoet, on 11/15/2007, -11/+33I actually think IGN is the only mainstream site that scores games fairly. They only score a game a 9 if it's a must buy. They score a game an 8 if it's wonderful but isn't to everyone's taste. The score a game a 7.5 if it's decent but has qualities they can't look past. And a game is a 6 if lacks mass appeal but is still enjoyable to those who like that sort of game.
Every other review site hands out 10s and 9s too liberally. - mrASSMAN, on 11/15/2007, -1/+20http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/ ...
Most of the critics (all except the few at the top) seem to be in agreement.. the game starts out great but then becomes repetitive, tedious, and boring. - herro, on 11/15/2007, -1/+19to be fair, bar warioware, when was the last time a minigame collection deserved a better score?
- greenblob, on 11/15/2007, -1/+16It's strange b/c WarioWare got a 9.1.
- Overcyn, on 11/15/2007, -0/+14reviews are so you can figure out if you should buy game. not whether or not to like it.
- lharrod, on 11/15/2007, -0/+14Penny Arcade addresses why these reviewers are so mixed. Check it out, pretty cool... http://www.penny-arcade.com/2007/11/14
- BluesFan, on 11/15/2007, -3/+16Jade Raymond makes this game good.
- joaob, on 11/15/2007, -0/+12I was certain that I was going to digg you down.....until I read the 4th paragraph. Whatever happened to the good ol platform'ers that broke so many of my controllers over frustration?
I don't think I ever owned a Nintendo controller that didn't have a piece broken inside that rattled once you shook it. - atomicpoet, on 11/15/2007, -3/+15Well that is obvious. But if you aren't going to read reviews, your only recourse in understanding if a game is worth the $60 is to rent it. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of time. I'd rather just read about whether a game is worth my $60, and if I know it's the kind of game I'll like and it gets an 80, it's worth my hard earned cash.
- Tactis, on 11/15/2007, -3/+13IGN 7.7
Eurogamer 7
Teamxbox 7.9
1up 7.0
seems like a lot of average scores i will will be the first to admit, i was really hyped for this game, now though i think i have decided to rent it after i have finished Mass Effect just to make sure i am not wasting $60 - atomicpoet, on 11/15/2007, -11/+21It didn't surprise me. This is the kind of genre that GameSpot scores perenially 9.0. Platformers, puzzlers, and minigames almost always get scored a 6-7. Sports titles get scored an 8. It's like they don't even play games anymore. They score a game according to what genre they like.
- silentdragoon, on 11/15/2007, -0/+10This is covered in extensive detail on the last gfw radio podcast, but:
1Up uses a different scale. The full scale. Not this seven to nine crap. That means a five is an average game. A seven is a *good* game. Better than average. - thebestmofo, on 11/15/2007, -2/+12I picked it up today and have been playing all night. I love this game. 9/10
- KingGoonie, on 11/15/2007, -3/+13Um.. anything 7 or above is good... so every reveiw Ive seen, including IGN's is good... Maybe not all are GREAT or INCREDIBLE... but they ALL ARE GOOD, so what the hell is this heading talking about?
- Hetman, on 11/15/2007, -1/+10I think there is a difference between multiplayer games and single player games. I think its easier for single player games to lose their zeal faster. But come on what happened to warhawk I played it once and thought it was awesome, But their doesnt seem to be any buzz for it anymore. Unlike halo, almost everywhere you turn you still have people talking about videos on the interwebs etc.
- calibration, on 11/15/2007, -5/+147 is good... not average.
- codered1322, on 11/15/2007, -0/+9I think you are wrong. No multiplayer = no more talk. Not a bad thing, just reality. Biowhat?
- Ndiggnation, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7You have FFXIII?! John Titor, is that you?
- musntSurfatWork, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7so... no 11 for this game?
- gasin, on 11/15/2007, -0/+7http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/ ...
Metacritic - 84! Not bad at all... - MaTT2011, on 11/15/2007, -6/+12Dude; its kind of hard to call it a spoiler when it occurs AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE GAME!
its not a spoiler; its a premise!
Besides, games are about gameplay...not contrived pretentious storyline *****. Worry about how the game plays because thats the only thing that really matters. - unrealmp3, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6Go buy Big Rigs, you'll like it.
- SnuKs, on 11/15/2007, -1/+7There's too many good things being said about this game to just overlook it due to a couple publications giving it an average rating.
- incognit0, on 11/15/2007, -0/+6It was leaked online 2 weeks before the official release. Plenty of time available...
- mrjit, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5Single player game without downloadable content = hardly anyone will talk about it in 3 months no matter what game it is
- Mrstupid7, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5As with most generalizations there are exceptions.
- mrASSMAN, on 11/15/2007, -0/+5God dammit.. fixed link: http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/ ... (comment system.. grumble)
- Nebberz, on 11/15/2007, -1/+6When a game is only a 7ish kinda good, when people were expecting a 9ish blockbuster kinda good. It's a more disappointing level of goodess than we were hoping for. We can be happy though that it wasn't a 3-4 fir syre,
- skinrock, on 11/15/2007, -3/+7No...that's *****. I tried reading the start of the review to see what they were so pissed about, and you can't even get a few sentences in before they ***** reveal the answer to what everyone was wondering about. I would have rather played that, thank you very much.
***** 1up. - MrFisty, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Only one?
- Mrstupid7, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4I'm going to ruin half of all RPG games for ya here. In the beginning, you usually get to put in a name.
- silverwolfe, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4No, they focus on the whole experience. When a single game becomes an astronomically huge under-taking (Shenmue?), it's expected that they deliver a full package of gameplay and atmosphere (whether that be in the form of more alternative graphics akin to Everyday Shooter or more realistic and high powered graphics like Crysis) and hopefully a good story to back it up.
Is it necessary? No, but that's what the market has come to expect and I personally love the idea of games being a deeper and generally more fulfilling experience on all fronts. It's not a one way street after all. You can have both great graphics and phenomenal gameplay and there's no reason that one should suffer because of the other (though it's not always balanced through development). - mrjit, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Cool, thanks for telling me about half of the game before I've played it.
- staticneuron, on 11/15/2007, -1/+5And yet you were just railing off above about 3d games and how the Wii lacks FPS's.
- staticneuron, on 11/14/2007, -0/+4I beg to differ. Gamers nowadays hold high standards to both. Gamers nowadays want it all. Graphics and gameplay. Gears of war, dead rising, Ratchet and Clank, SMG are all great playing games but they also have the added advantage of Eyecandy which catapults them to a higher standard.
- Inverno, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Hey you kids, get off my lawn with your x box and your epods! When I was your age I had 4 bits and I liked it!
- Christbait, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4One word that contributes to why it may slighty stink a little: Ubisoft.
- soccerman90, on 11/14/2007, -1/+5only mario can pull of an 11/10
- svander, on 11/15/2007, -0/+4Thank you for posting that. Gabe's writeup settled the score for me. I'm picking up my copy tomorrow.
