- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31"HAHA sony's always late to the party."
It's more like Sony isn't interested in said party but some other person tried to take their place. This hasn't got anything to do with Sony, numbnuts. - br0ck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Clicking through two blogs you find the actual page which has a lot more information:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/MY-QJ-PSPTouchME-concept-images/pg/49/aid/67918 - Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -7/+20Digg is social bullying. If one person Diggs you down, others are much more inclined to Digg you down too.
- Topher06, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Jesus H Christ!
I can draw a picture and say I invented something too.
When an article says "PSP gets Homebrewed touch screen" it implies that someone actually developed a product, or developed a prototype, not just mocked up a photoshop image and claim it will cost $56 if its ever released.
Honestly, honestly, honestly, can people start posting quality articles on Digg, just once!!!
What is so f*cking obvious is that people are using Digg simply to get links to their page what is FULL OF GOOGLE ADS. There is more add content on the linked page then there is article content. They put some title in the Digg article to misdirect people to their website and rack up a few cents per page view for duping people to their website.
Digg is getting to be worse the SPAM! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Actually you can use the touch screen in NSMB to access secondary powerups, or select a world, or play mini games.
- novamob, on 10/25/2007, -5/+12There's always a trade-off. To get your DS to play mp3s, video, and homebrew you have to plug in a bulky device that sticks out of the gba slot. To get the PSP to use touch screen you have to plug a bulky device into the usb. When will these two consoles quit playing around and marry each other?
- JeremiahLBurns, on 10/25/2007, -5/+11As the article says, "DS it's not". While this is true, it's not TRYING to be DS. It's simply taking a fantastic element of portable gaming executed well on the DS and incorporating it into the PSP to try to add some more functionality and diversity...something the PSP desperately needs.
However, as a guy that has personally assembled touch screen displays for an automotive diagnostic equipment manufacturer, I know that it doesn't take much to damage the glass. I've seen them snap whilst removing their protective cover sheets. They're about as thin as the image in the mock-up, but always end up encased in something else. The glass itself can't just be exposed like that. So, the mock-up they're showing you? I don't see it happening that way. It would be bigger and bulkier...if for no other reason, to add protection.
But hey, I could be way off base. Just a hunch. I've not built touch screens on such a small scale, and maybe they know something I don't. I still think the concept drawing is someone's wet dream.
All that said, dugg for sheer coolness of concept. - Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Get a room.
- BenSerwa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Whining about being dugg down is a great way to get dugg down.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://digg.com/gaming_news/PSP_Gets_Touch_Screen_This_is_why_Sony_should_support_the_Homebrew_Scene
props on getting to the front page though, digg is all about timing and i guess i was a day or so too early with this story - Xoligy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Correction, You're going to get dugg down.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6As much as I love this idea, it's one of those things I cannot foresee being accepted for a couple of reasons:
Sony doesn't like homebrew and will try to shoot this down
The general public will not downgrade their psp's for homebrew (there is a notion that it's pure evil which is untrue)
Other than homebrew, I can't foresee it being used anywhere else as no first party games or software would utilize such a feature.
I hate to say this but it I foresee it going the way of the psp keyboard. An excellent idea, but difficult to pull off due to Sony's tight leash. - andrewrchambers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3bah, i went through my handheld games piracy with my GBA and it sucks. you download a game and play for a few minutes and then think... hmm i think i'll try a different one... and then you do the same with that one, and they eventually it gets to the point where you just download games to play for a bit before getting bored of them
when you actually invest money in a game you bother to play it properly and you get your moneys worth from it because you dont have unlimited games to play instead. pirated games are just no fun. - satori3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2according to the review scores on Gamespot the average score of DS games is 6.7 while the average score of PSP games is 7.1, also the PSP has 52 more games than the DS. Personally I'm a huge fan of Daxter, GTA, X-men II and Syphon Filter, with lots of other great games out there as well.
- nights0223, on 10/25/2007, -5/+7novamob - Tell me how these are bulky and stick out of the GBA slot:
http://news.gbatemp.net/M3LB.JPG
Also, there are flash cards that are the size of a DS game:
http://gbatemp.net/reviews/dslink/Pict2669.jpg - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"when you actually invest money in a game you bother to play it properly and you get your moneys worth"
Totally agree with you there. No reason why you got dugg down, I guess it's not cool to pay for things nowadays. I also went through the whole flashcart thing on the GBA and it ruins it. On my *** I use devhook, but for running my purchased games without having to upgrade the firmware. I get way more out of my games that way and feel like I have gotten a lot of value for money. - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Worthless. If it's not official, no commercial content will be made for it, so it's a waste. I'm all for homebrew on both my PSP and DS, but I'm not attracted by this... at all.
- Mistic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the only good thing about this is it could give the psp some sort of pda functionality and make it easyer to input text maybe
- cesarandreu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am a PSP owned and a user who uses homebrew and I have to say that I honestly hate the touchscreen. Its fine if people like it but its very hard for some people to use, mainly, LEFT HANDED PEOPLE. Im left handed and I got screwed over. I honestly dont like this thing for the PSP, its stupid... I did not like the DS because of the touchscreen, im sorry but its very annoying for left handed people to use... Thats why I dont have a DS, this is the reason why, for me, the DS trully sucks, the PSP is honestly better for me because both right and left handed people can use it easily... I played my friends DS and the games are over-rated also, im not saying PSP games are good, no, PSP games suck, but the same goes for the DS games, I gave that new Mario game a try and I was dissapointed :(...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -12/+13"Digg is social bullying. If one person Diggs you down, others are much more inclined to Digg you down too."
I'd like to test that theory. *Diggs you down* - smokinjay, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7when are people going to shut up about the DS is better....wait the PSP is better...i own both and play both. each has their own advantages and faults. lets cheer the new development for both devices, i think it helps the industry as a whole.
- MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Omg, you're both getting dugg down!
(bury this) - lcp03o, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1nice one :)
http://www.free-psp-demos.com - inactive, on 10/25/2007, -7/+8What? PSP homebrewer's developing a touch screen for the PSP that neither:
1. Has games capable of using it
2. The means to use such technology
and lets not forget all the PSP fans that ridiculed the DS for having a touch screen, now people are designing one for the PSP!
Honestly, the PSP cool factor for me wore off when I found no games sparking any interest to me, and promptly traded it in to get 1/2 the investment back.
Pretty sensational title/description too, seeing how the PSP is nowhere near the DS in terms of functionality and game library. - sinistergfx, on 10/25/2007, -10/+9As a DS homebrewer; I think this is pretty damn cool.
- novamob, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@nights. Point taken. Still, those products are only available through internet ordering. I bought the max media dock from a physical store because I wasn't sure how well it would work and didn't want to hassle with returning it. The device works very well and it's simply a fun addition to a great product.
- lal480, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, ripped from the DS.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5The DS isn't cool because it has a touchscreen. The DS is cool because it has innovative games that use a touchscreen for input. A homebrew touchscreen is fine, but it's not something that's going to be used in games, is it?
I mean, if you want a touchscreen interface on a 4" screen for playing your music, don't let me stop you in your quest... - MrSidnet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2two words:
dugg mirror.
also:
ad block.
You cant see their ads, or you dont view the website on their servers. - mrpizza, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So I assume that homebrewers will make DS quality games to take advantage of this "awesome" third party add-on...
And loved the "concept" pics....I can also make a bad 3d Render of a DS with a third widescreen screen... - kagelump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0under $50?
what the hell?
i paid over $80 for mine o_0||
even the Supercard (an 'inferior' to the M3) is $50 at the cheapest
The only thing i've seen going for $40 is the dslink =/ - ZenMojo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Few systems are designed FOR their peripherals. Before the Nintendo DS and PSP were released, I argued that the PSP could easily have a touch screen added to it due to the USB port. It's funny seeing the idea for one pop up at this point even though Sony doesn't want one added.
- ZeonZumDeikun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1This isn't real. There's no way in hell that the touch screen would just plug into the USB slot and sit there unprotected.
Buried for being unrealistic fanboy bait. - FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The latest M3 lite micro fits flush in the DS Lite, so there is no added bulk to use homebrew. Plug and play with the passcard as well. Music, movies and of course sofware all very easy to use and you don't have to worry about Nintendo patching you out.
- zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -8/+7"and lets not forget all the PSP fans that ridiculed the DS for having a touch screen"
You act for some insane reason like these people are one in the same. One person making a touchscreen neither contradicts neither invalidates the views of the people that think it's a useless idea.
You are just clutching at 'I told you so' staws and failing badly. - BenSerwa, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Zetsurin, your attitude sucks. Persuasion is about calmly presenting your argument in a way that'll make other people consider it, if you act like a dick, even if what you're saying is valid, it'll fall on deaf ears. That's why you're getting dugg down.
- jellygraph, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1LOL! What a useless addition to the PSP. The portable was never designed to have it, making it a worthless feature (goes back to playing his DS).
- kagelump, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Its really all in your mind =/
Once you're able to overcome that thought, and play your pirate games to its fullest, there really isn't any difference at all.
Tho you're right, its kinda like how many people still like to play in arcades, even if they own the home versions. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5The problem with digg. Exhibit A:
"Just go watch Get Rich or Die Tryin on UMD, or something."
Read my previous remark, it was a discussion on why I think your remark was out of line and a gross generalisation. If you want to make a point, try to at least make a point rather than spout a moronic sentence like the one I quote here. You sound like you haven't hit puberty yet kiddo. Were my words too long for you to understand? - maduin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4I'm a DS Lite owner who uses homebrew and pirates games using the supercard lite, which I purchased at kicktrading.ca and learned about at gbatemp.net forums, digg me!
- kerrle, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Actually, my DS Lite is indistinguishable from a factory unit, and it can run software off of a 1GB microSD card. Units like the M3 Lite and others make it possible, and you can get some of them for well under $50.
Currently, I've got full ports of Doom, Heretic, and several Scumm games, along with about an hours worth of MP3s and a few emulators.
Edit: I was typing this as you replied, so it may be a bit redundant - but I don't see why internet ordering is a problem - in fact, my last batch of stuff made the trip from Hong Kong to Texas in about 3 days. And that was on the cheapest shipping option. - inactive, on 10/25/2007, -11/+10Hopefully never?
I didn't buy a DS for mp3, video, etc. - TheG2, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Zodiac Tapwave > *
- matariel, on 10/25/2007, -10/+8Thank you Kevin.
I'm a gamer. If I buy a handheld console I want it to do one thing, and one thing well. Play games. - zetsurin, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3"It's generalization."
Just as I thought. You don't know much about the world do you, son? It's generaliSation where I live. Honestly, what a moron (that's spelt the same in both our countries by the way).
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/generalisation
Next cue: some pointless my country is better than your country banter from Kevie. - Alphabet, on 10/12/2007, -10/+5most pspers that I know don't buy psp games, it's all stuff they downloaded. They have about 1 or 2 psp games, and that's it. There's a homebrew for the DS too, but barely anyone I know uses it because they rather buy and play the DS games.
- STKD, on 10/25/2007, -15/+11Still, if only the PSP had games worth playing...
- NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Someone who likes PSP on digg. You're going to get dugg down. Sorry.
- Kyjibo, on 10/12/2007, -12/+5Cool, but still nothing compared to the DS
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3More useless flaming from Sony fanboy zetsurin. Just go watch Get Rich or Die Tryin on UMD, or something.

What is Digg?
