- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Best bet is that Sony delayed it because of security issues with the Japanese 2.0 (mentioned above.)
Or that they're tremendous bastards... - jadams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not sure what the big deal is. Just download the Japanese version of the firmware and install it from the memory stick. Did this with no problems at all.
- jtronforce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was talking about this upgrade last night with some of you board mods in Toronto. Seems a previous hack of the Japanese 2.0 software is suspected to be the cause for delay.

Funny you mention that, here's the Windows clone:

and the OS X clone:

Instructions in the zips. Pretty neat, I tried it out last night. Comes with games also:) - spelchek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what connontation does that have with anything on this page, other than you bragging
- AbsentLight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ummm, someone needs to explain to me why everyone is so upset about a 3 day delay. Not the end of the world, fanboys.
- patricklynch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still don't think the new web browser is worth losing homebrew support.
- mrshll, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm just gonna wait for a shell (or OS) that has a webbrowser. No sense in losing all that homebrew capability for a crappy browser.
- sw96, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The Japanese release of v2.0 worked flawlessly on US PSPs. If you want the webbrowser install that. I did, and everything works great. I hope homebrew for 2.0 catches up soon, though.
- sw96, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the japanese 2.0 firmware does NOT work flawlessly. people had problems with doing that. i thought there was a digg on that, maybe not. the problems aren't very major though. just something with networking. anyway, i'm waiting for the 15th, there's got to be some reason for the staggering of japanese vs the american release. My geuss is that japan was the testing grounds for 2.0, and any little bug in it will be worked out for us in the US.
So basically, you're claiming problems with JAP 2.0, but you won't be specific, and you haven't tried it yourself. STFU. I've been using it for the last few weeks and have checked out nearly all of the features w/o problems. Stop trying to scare people.
Anyway, with the US release only days away you're probably better off just waiting. - spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyway, my real question is delay: why?
- bruggerA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0how will the people at the gamestore even tell really there like 17 year olds not Rocket scientist im sure they wont tell
- spelchek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Riddle me this though, wont it update your psp from Japanese Firmware when you get one of the newer games anyways though? I don't have anywaher near me to even use wi-fi anyways.
- TheIguana, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why in the hell is Sony dicking around releasing two different "regional" firmwares? They should have one and no bs like this.
Iggy :) - spartan777, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0the japanese 2.0 firmware does NOT work flawlessly. people had problems with doing that. i thought there was a digg on that, maybe not. the problems aren't very major though. just something with networking. anyway, i'm waiting for the 15th, there's got to be some reason for the staggering of japanese vs the american release. I will upgrade, despite all the awesome homebrew programs. i think they're very cool, but if I want to play gba or snes games via an emulutor, i will use my pc. a browser and future high-def support is just too much. i just wish sony would stop laying all the obstacles for home-brewing coders. they should wake up and realize, that allowing regular people freedom to toy and code for their psp would double its cool factor. that would show the linux/gpl types like me how smart they are, and there would be a slew of nifty programs and games to use. that would save sony money on making programs. i should point out that every last piece of software (any software excluding games) they make is awful, aaawwwwffffuuuulllll. sonicstage, i'm talking to you. you make me cry. - Darth_tater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wish my ds had a built in browser...just have 2 wait for a good firefox port ;(
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, all I can hope is that I hope it overwrites the Japanese FW I installed. Hope it does. I'm enjoying the features now, but I'd much rather ensure compatibility with whatever Sony ties to the FW in NA. 2.0 is nice. Love the interface in the browser. Not as good as on a PC, but it'll do considering that the PSP doesn't have a keyboard accessory yet.
- ConfusedONE, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whatever, it is just a couple days. I can wait for it.
- sw96, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can live w/o homebrew emulation and hacked retails for a while. Another thing the new firmware adds is cusomizable background images. Just load a .jpg to your PSP, zoom and pan to the spot you want and click the option to "set as background." Oh, and no more monthly background colors. You can now choose your own. :D
- Fr0sTy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'm keeping my1.5 until someone or some group hacks the 2.0 firmware. homebrews, emulators and running UMD's off of the memory stick are the best asset of the PSP.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I was going to do the Japanese 2.0 upgrade but it ***** voids the warranty.

I think you've proven yourself to be the "asstard" with nothing interesting on constructional to say about the story. You, sir, no nothing about me. My current dwelling doesn't even have a basement. Keep your little insults to yourself and maybe one day you'll have enough self esteem to a functional member of society. (As apposed to someone who doesn't have anything better to do then make insults and flames on an online news site) - MEvsYOU, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Sony = Retards
- MEvsYOU, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Another asstard... get back in your basement scum.
