- sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Whatever Sony says DO NOT UPGRADE to 3.01!
A release of a 2nd update within a day only means that they left a pretty big hole open. Meaning that there might be still be a possibility for homebrew on 3.00.
Do not update your PSP through WiFi or PlayStation.com, both now link to 3.01
I uploaded v3.00 to my server for anyone who wants it.

If you plan to update from elsewhere make sure its a safe/trusted site.
I have also put up a review and a video of 3.00 demonstration on the same link. - FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17The only revisions in this version seem to be a "security strengthening." Again. Wonder what Sony found that they hope we haven't yet?
- danneyboey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It could be a kinda big deal. Security hole = homebrew. On 3.00. Now that would be awesome.
- Derrekito, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Both have been cracked? Proof?
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10I wonder this:
Sony releases PSP firmware upgrades frequently, and Digg knows that. But apparently they will never fix the ~200 PS2 games that are not working on the PS3? - Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This will probably entice the devs who are working on 3.00 at the moment.
- anthony1124, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9Still on 1.5.
- DarkLance, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Suck This Sony™!, PSP-Hacks posted a link to a 3.0 and 3.1 dump decrypter:
http://www.psp-hacks.com/file/918 - patm1987, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In this case... cracked means that they're actually able to read the decrypted machine code (w007). Essentially, devhook users (not ppl like me who spontaneously update when the games force me to) now get their payoff for being patient. (devhook being, afaik, a firmware emulator running other firmware on top of 1.5 or the 1.71 special edition).
It does not mean they have homebrew running on it (though I'm sure someone is working on that). And, I'm also assuming that we still can't decrypt the sony demo's (otherwise we'd be able to encrypt our own games and not have to jump through hoops... right?). - Agret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Get with the times, 2.71SE is where it's at.
- spikes, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2200 *is* bad when they have an actual EE+GS chip in that thing, its not like they are having to EMULATE PS2 games here, they have the actual hardware in the console.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3yes but most would not dl a .01 fix if they even upgraded to 3.00 if that of which is dl'n did homebrew.
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4That's right, because they'd rather resell you those PS2 games than give you some free update that will make them all work for you. Even if they aren't interested in reselling a compilation later on, where's the money for them if they do this? Why would they spend money to help you out? Understand that Sony cares about one thing: your money. That's it. You could drop dead and they'd push your carcass over to get at your wallet.
- NidStyles, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Seems I'm a bit behind, I'm running 1.5. :o)
- Marthinus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@Chompy
As opposed to what other corporate that won't do it? Maybe in Wonderland or Oz corporates do not care for your money but back in the real world corporates do not care about you, they care about your money.
The only flaw with Sony is their lack of tact and good PR, they are upfront with what they want from you and they do not care about you, MS and Nintendo has tact and good PR, they do not care about you but they give you a warm and fuzzy feeling so you trust them, so in short
MS, Nintendo = Deceitful corporate taking your money from your dead body
Sony = Tried to be deceitful but failed so now the are just taking your money in plain sight.
At the end you loose they win, choose your poison but do not be tricked into thinking anyone of those corporates care about you. - hchaudh1, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4200 out of 800 ain't bad. Just saying.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1iunno bout u guys, its kinda of slow for me so yeah :P
http://www.duggmirror.com/ - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3OLD!
And, both 3.00 and 3.01 have been cracked.
Good bye. We have had over 4 stories today on this. - WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1who really cares about a .01 update so soon after the major 3.0 update?
give it at least a month before the digg story again. - usernameistaken, on 10/12/2007, -15/+2It's a safe bet that anyone who's going to upgrade to 3.00 is going to upgrade to 3.01
