The first one obviously means "no exploits for you," so if you're a homebrew fan, avoid firmware 3.00! - DesolataX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+33All we have to do now is wait for it to be hacked :D
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -3/+26these guys are really cool!
- combatchuck, on 10/12/2007, -6/+24Holy ***** *****. FreePlayPSP and User123 both need to be deleted.
- takai, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I just updated to 3.0. If you don't play homebrew, go for it. It doesn't have anything amazing, but there a few cool new things - the visualizations, camera function. Most importantly though, you can FINALLY turn UMD auto-start off! Hooray!
Besides, you need this update if you want to play PS1 games from the PlayStation Network. - cyanid3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Haha...It's just QJ vs PSP3D...Been going on for a long time now :P
- Elxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Just block them. It makes the comments on this article a tad lonely, but at least you don't have a mass of 4th grade squabbles to sort through.
- ChaseLudwick, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13cool maybe this will break my psp and sony will not be held responsible
- DannyX0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12okay, i updated, since i had 1.82 allready (while trying to ignore the above comments), the visualizer looks awesome but there's only 5 of them, not a LOT of changes, just some little things, here and there (as expected).
One weird thing I saw was, the "Certificate Utility" under Game. Wonder what that is... and the Online Instruction Manuals is really useless. Don't have a PS3 yet so I have to wait for that to come in the mail to mess with "remote play". And I don't have a psp camera (is that even out yet?). Was it worth the upgrade? Nah. nothing really special, like free video streaming from the browser. or a Macromedia flash upgrade. or real features that matter, like homebrew. - etx313, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Ladies...
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -4/+13PSP FANSITES ARE ***** SERIOUS BUSINESS!
- Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -12/+21Jamie you are around 30 years of age, correct? Take a look at the replies you gave to me....
"I don't go to that lame ass server."
"Go crawl under a rock and die =)"
Dude. You are a grown man and disrespecting a 15 year old kid. I pity you greatly. - keikun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9interesting features but I think i'll stick with my 2.71se until i get a ps3
- NeoTechni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8PSP - homebrew lets you copy PSP games, and use pirated copies of PSP games.
PS3 - homebrew does not let you use or copy PS3 games
Sony gave use homebrew on PS3 in hopes we'd have no reason to hack it, and by having control over what we can do with it to prevent hacking - Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Wow, I just have so much respect for the maturity of you both, I can't decide where to place the larger part of my apathy. Leave your internet battles in IRC where we're not subject to it.
- tomi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9PSP - No homebrew
PS3 - Easy Homebrew
WTF Sony? - sahaskatta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10For those who don't want to update yet, here's a video demonstration of 3.00
http://skattertech.com/2006/11/psp-firmware-300-released/ - johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7We downgrade so we can run emulators (Genesis and NES are my favourites) and homebrew software (like PSPRadio). This firmware lets us play a handful of PS1 games. It's not what downgraders want. It's of no interest to me nor a lot of people.
- Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8You know what I just can't figure out? Why Sony is trying so very hard to kill the homebrew scene when it's one of the single biggest pulls of the system. Think about what homebrew software could be if so much of the developers' time wasn't spent trying to get their old software to work on a new firmware.
- PuyoDead, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The really dumb thing is, they don't have to "embrace it", so to speak. Just make an update that -just so happens- to allow the homebrew functionality of 1.00 or 1.50. They don't need to go and announce it, therefore making it look like they support piracy (because that's what everyone would attribute it to). Just go ahead and let it be. Sure, you can download PSP UMDs, but it's a VERY small percentage of people who use it just for that. The most time and effort goes into emulation and actual homebrew. It's the only reason I even use my PSP anymore. None of the games are even worth mentioning.
- dimsum05, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ya... the visualizer is very nice! ^_^
Flash Upgrade would've been great.. but meh... what can you do... - mentat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4You know, this is quite disappointed with this mythical 3.00. The updates I've seen so far sound more like a 2.XX update, like 2.90 or something, and less like 3.00. The updates seem minimal compared to a full increment update.
A visualizer isn't that great, and the PS3 functionality seems lame, considering how few people have the PS3. Sony should have done something like give us a GUI upgrade, or some sort of new shiny. At least make it LOOK new! So far, from 1.00 to 3.00, all the XMBs look the same, feel the same, and work the same. What about the ability to store folders WITHIN folders in the Photo viewer? Or fix the numerous "Broken Image" errors I can easily produce (Almost all of the panels from MegaTokyo in GIF format flunk out on the PSP, as do a large number of images in PNG format produced with Mogrify), yet funtion fully on *every other image viewer on the planet.*
Even if I didn't use PSPRadio or the nifty RSS readers made in Homebrew (Come on, Sony, Text RSS! PLEASE!) I still wouldn't upgrade to 3.00. Gimmie the ability to at least play a wider variety of video formats! Maybe the ability for the Web Browser to use storage space on the Memory Stick as VRAM so I can load up more memory intensive web pages (or actually make use out of the multi-tabs, since the thing runs out of RAM so easily).f Please?
Well, with luck half my issues will be addressed by 3.50 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6I was contemplating updating to it but hten sony took away the only reason I had to use this update, ps1 emulation using JUST the psp, but instead I will stick with DA 2.71SE-B''
- Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Cant wait for 3.00 SE! XD
- t0ny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Why are psp people always downgrading and now they are happy about a new firmware?
Damn crazy psp people confusing me...
GET OFF MY LAWN! Damn kids... - johnsto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5According to the psp dev forums, Sony have COMPLETELY changed the way Flash0 is written in this firmware and they can't find it anymore :(
- superrcat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+33.01 is already available. I just downloaded it from Network Update.
- lickmygiggle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I was also wondering just what the hell "certificate manager" is. This could just be me not knowing what i'm talking about but perhaps homebrew will be supported?
Why else would it be under the Game section of the XMB? - rick2k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so far FW 3.0 is *****.. i went to delete a old network connection and it resets my psp
- atb12688, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Nice on the PSOne support but everything else is trivial as far as i'm concerned. Will install later today...
- grumbel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You can already homebrew with Flash on the PSP, sure its rather limited versus having full hardware access, but its a start. I am still hoping that Sony will one day release Java for PSP, while still not as flexible as direct hardware access, it should be enough for most of the legal home brew stuff.
- ZeroMP, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Oh well too bad the PS* is ***** anyway. Aahahahahaha.
- kayjay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2maybe sony will some day open homebrew on the psp...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=1532385
--user123 - Mischa, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I hope maybe this will break my psp over muhu and user123's heads and hold them responsible for taking this story overboard.
some diggers go off sometimes. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+8@user123
- i think your time would be better spent reporting breaking news rather than stealing news and picking e-fights. - instereo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1http://duggmirror.com
Any pictures of the new visualizer yet? - mrdoolittle119, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1so no flash support..... wtf
- Ninjab3ar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2@betterth
i feel sorry for digging you down, you were right.... - Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -7/+3Hold Jamie responsible. I merely stuck up for my "pal" FreePlay.
- MrMxyzptlk, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!
- Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -15/+10Even though I have my qj, id like to say that you got owned Jamie.
YAY 3.0 IS OUT w00t! - FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -15/+4My "facts" have no basis? What the ***** are you talking about? QJ changed the article title. This is a fact. Firmware 3.00 came out AFTER that article was originally written. This is a fact. The article links to the same Digg - look at the Digg title, for Christ's sake! It's about the November 22 release!
Have you no integrity? - FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Speaking of which, user123 claimed not to be Jamie from QJ, and yet ...
"You have been banned for the following reason:
You will not slander QJ Staff.
Date the ban will be lifted: 11-27-2006, 11:00 PM"
Jamie, thanks for playing. You fell right into my trap :) - waytoorandomx, on 10/12/2007, -17/+5User123:

Kthxbai. :> - Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4Jamie, what FreePlay said WAS a comeback. You act like a teenager, which I wouldnt doubt that you are.
- waytoorandomx, on 10/12/2007, -15/+3Yes, but always instigated by QJ.net. What have we done to cause fights? Absolutely nothing. User123 consistently posts negative comments to every submission we make to Digg.com. Outside of Digg, he also continues to post propaganda and lies against the site.
Here, check this out:
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Awesome_see_through_PSP_UMD_door_mod
Blatantly attacks my right to post on Digg. Funny thing is, he claims we got it from YouTube (which we didn't). THEN, his hypocritical-self decides it would be nice to inform his fellow QJ bloggers about it, and in less than a day later, we have:
http://pspupdates.qj.net/index.php?pg=49&aid=73375
Seriously, WTF. Who is copying who's 'news' here? - Muhu, on 10/12/2007, -19/+5You just did go to that "lame ass server" just a few minutes ago Jamie. Dont give me that crap. Many other QJ users go there every ***** day. Me being one of them. I dont see why you even started the ***** in the first place.
Instead of talking ***** behind a computer, come down to Chicago and say it to my face. -
