- Heterochromia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+36I recently reinstalled Fallout 1 and 2 - and let me tell you...
I have never more eagerly awaited a game in my life. I have high hopes for this. I just hope they allow me to get dogmeat back. - sampson123, on 10/11/2007, -2/+35It does say teaser, so set your expectations accordingly.
- DreKor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+25but PipBoy kicks ass
- eXk0n, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Ron Pearlman just makes everything seem bad ass.
- SUPERnova007, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25Fallout... Fallout never changes.
still awesome ten years later - SpectralSounds, on 10/11/2007, -1/+24I hope it's as good as Fallout 2. Not some lame attempt to cash in on an old, but good franchise.
- ynggrsshppr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22It's not Steampunk, it's Post-Apocalyptic. Or is this some sort of joke that's going around the internet?
- Desolite, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22this news makes me want to search book cases.
- Lumiras, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22Looks pretty awesome. It almost looks like those graphics weren't pre-rendered, and if that turns out to be what the game looks like, i'm mega pumped.
Oh, what the hell, I'd play Fallout 3 if it was all represented in ASCII characters, too - nkap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+20http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRGCMc59Wao
- staffell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+20give me a kiss to build a dream on!
- CalipsoII, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18But can Crysis and UT compete with FO3 ...
FOR MY HEART? - Stonedonkey, on 10/11/2007, -4/+22"If they make Fallout 3 into a FPS/RPG like people have been talking about then I for one will not buy it, I want a true Fallout 3 game not a Oblivion game set in a waste land."
What made Fallout great had nothing to do with what genre it was in, or what the frickin' camera perspective was. It was cool because it was funny, because you had to make moral choices, because it was a world full of gritty detail, and because the conversations were engaging. The only problem I see is that FO3 will end up being as bland as Oblivion, character-wise or story-wise. - markg483, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I have to wait a year and a half? I find it sadistic to have that teaser to the teaser up for a month, then show us the trailer to only have us to discover we must wait a year and a half for the game to be released. Personally, there's no need to announce anything at all until six months before it hits the shelves. That's my belief, I could be wrong.
- DiggerDoombot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+16More like Retro-Futuristic with a generous heaping of Post-Apocalyptic thrown in to spice it up a notch. BAM!
- Dillywin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17I just ***** out butterflies of excitement
- zyl0x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Have you played Fallout 1 or 2? It's not a shoot-em-up. Fans of the series don't play the games for graphical appeal. Who cares if Crysis looks better? Not any Fallout fans.
- ahhell, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16As long as they don't pull a Shadowrun on this game.
- mywhitenoise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+14Especially when it's projected that far ahead, they usually delay it for an additional 8 months.
- PureHeretic, on 10/11/2007, -12/+26Why would you get excited over "Halo 2"
nothing from the halo series is worth "excitement" - DiggerDoombot, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13After 10 years of graphic improvements... it's going to look amazing when your companions shoot you in the back with a mini gun. ;)
Loves Fallout/ Loathes Ian. - ggbs, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14direct link?
http://static.bethsoft.com/fo3/fallout.mov - Jagdwulfe, on 10/11/2007, -10/+22Amen, Halo is the most over hyped game there is. I fail to see why people are going crazy over that crap.
- CalipsoII, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14@Phayde
If you can't remember that they were called "Perks" you can't call yourself a Fallout fan ;)
http://www.gamebanshee.com/fallout/perks.php - aboyd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12@PureHeretic,
The reason people don't trust Bethesda is because they make games that do not use any of the gameplay elements of Fallout. For example, they don't have dialogue trees. They don't do turn-based combat. They don't use isometric view for more tactical battles. They DO create very pretty games that are dumbed-down (example: becoming champion in the ring at 1st level).
Having said that, I'm not sure it needs all of that. I don't like turn-based combat much, although Temple of Elemental Evil is a recent exception. But I have to say that I much, MUCH prefer dialogue trees as in KotOR, NWN, BG. I also very much prefer level restrictions, as in BG and so on. If I try to battle Firkraag the dragon in Baldur's Gate 2, but I am low level, then the game does nothing to weaken the dragon for me. Instead, I just get my ass kicked. I find that to be much more rewarding. I work hard, gain power, and tackle things that were previously impossible.
Hopefully Bethesda will offer something with a few new changes that really enhance gameplay, but without the dimwitted drawbacks. - bittermang, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12Mirrors:

http://ve3d.ign.com/?reconfigureCaches=true&reload=true - PureHeretic, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15i think fallout 3 is going to top it off, especially since its being done by bethesda
i dont understand why people are putting down Bethesda, but for whatever reason they're morons... - violentvinyl, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14@ACrazyGerman (#7031382)
I enjoyed Fallout and Fallout 2 because of the engaging, open ended story line, the fabulous setting, and the razor sharp wit. If they manage to incorporate all that with an immersive, interactive 3D environment, I'll be just as happy, if not more so.
Imagine the possibilities for vehicle travel and squad based combat. Multiplayer Co-op maybe? - WSADIKJL, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Many of my friends seem to have the opinion that Fallout 3 will fail simply because it's being done by Bethesda. I'm of the opinion that this is a series that less than a year ago seemed as if it was never coming back, therefore I'm simply happy that there is at least going to be an attempt at a sequel. F1 and F2 were great. Here's to hoping this one's even better!
- XivGNP, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12GAH, I'm trying very, very hard not to utterly geek out over 2 min. worth of teaser footage, but god damn it is near impossible. Now I just need to either actually get a 360 or upgrade my PC. Screw all the haters, Brotherhood of Steel 4 LIFE.
- Toloran, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9@ynggrsshppr
No, its just people using pop-culture terminology and having no knowledge of what it actually means. - PureHeretic, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11i dugg you down for irrelevant reference

- MomoTheCow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8The fan forums leading up to this release was insane. About 80,000 posts in less than 24 hours.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9The reason fallout fans are worried about Bethesda are:
1. They seem to dislike Fallout fans, think they're just too hardcore of fans that will NEVER be satisfied with WHATEVER they do, which is not true, at least for the one I know, including myself.
2. Their idea of open-ended gameplay just means you have lots of different random quests you can take, ala morrowind and oblivion. Whereas in the fallout games, not only did you have many different options for quests, but the main quest itself had many different paths, AND you had moral choices THROUGHOUT the entire game. That's something you STILL don't find in current games, even games like Fable.
3. Part of Fallout's charm WAS in the core mechanics of the game, so if they just make Oblivion with guns and an apocalyptic theme (meaning its first person, auto-leveling, all that jazz), I promise you it won't feel and play anything like a Fallout game.
If they DO however keep the core mechanics of the first two games intact, and make improvements on them, and give us a free-bird's eye view (like neverwinter nights), I'm betting most fallout fans will actually be geniunely excited for the game. - ACrazyGerman, on 10/11/2007, -11/+19If they make Fallout 3 into a FPS/RPG like people have been talking about then I for one will not buy it, I want a true Fallout 3 game not a Oblivion game set in a waste land.
- TheStrangeBrew, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9And then have to wait another 3 mos for patches so the game will work properly!
- CedEx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11@ ACrazyGerman
And FPS/RPG wouldn't be that bad. They have tons of games like that, but they are always set in fantasy world settings, with swords and magic.
Rarely do you get a game in that genre set in the future. Deus Ex was a great game... - devate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Wow, really wish I could view the trailer. Every site listed here that has it is blocked for me. Stupid freaking filters. Just to satisfy my curiosity, does anyone else here hate websense with a fiery burning passion? I pray daily for them to be hacked.
- Narayan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I love that they are still using the ink spots for the music and the power armor looks just as awesome as always. Well worth the wait.
- ShadySpace, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11You can't call yourself a Fallout fan if you don't even use the proper in-game terminology, "quirks"? You're both wrong, Bloody Mess is a trait. Traits were a starting choice that couldn't be upgraded, perks were rewards to certain aspect of your character from leveling up. Oh, and no one ever chose bloody mess, it was a waste of a tag.
- Phayde415, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Agreed, I'd rather have crappy FO3 rather then no FO3. If worst comes to worst you can just uninstall it and act like it never happened.
However, I remember reading about how excited Bethesda was about FO3 even when they had to work on Oblivion. I have faith that they know what they're doing and they know what FO is all about and will keep it close to its roots. - Phayde415, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11If you don't pick up "Bloody Mess" as one of your quirks, you can't call yourself a FO fan. Minigunning someone and watching their arm and head disentegrate.... so satisfying.
- ShadySpace, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7They're worth it, believe me.
- 0260, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7deus ex was genius. love it or hate it oblivion was to. i never played any fallout games but im excited about this
- Phayde415, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Pipe Rifle FTL. The first time I played FO2 I quit after getting that weapon and getting owned by Geckos. But I bought it again recently when I heard FO3 was in the works and went all the way through. I thought it was great! My favorite witty moment is the scientologist camp in China Town run by two insane actors/actresses.
