- ohmar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Are you joking?
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Broccoli...I don't even know how to respond to that. I want to say something insulting, but I'm afraid you'll take it as a compliment.
- Ashex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Take the lights out?
- apothekari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Actually the Martial arts weapon is called Nunchuku.
Nintendo dropped the "U"
"Numchuks" is a common American slang/mispronunciation. - diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Remember kids: Use protection. Nobody wants their Wii glowing blue.
- AKAImBatman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11> Take the lights out?
Hah! I can see it now!
"Dude, you should see how awesome my Nunchuck looks! It *DOESN'T* glow!"
:-P - tange1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Very cool, very simple. Some soldered but not assembled pictures would have been nice but I get the idea from the drawings.
- Guitarsenal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8No current limiting resistor for the LED?
Bad Mod! - AKAImBatman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You don't really want this standard. It's a nice thing to do as a mod, but it's a useless waste of battery power for most players. (Putting aside how power efficient LEDs are. Power usage is still power usage.) Besides, if Nintendo made this stuff standard, what would the modding community have left to do? ;-)
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Excellent tutorial, I have seen countless other tuts for things that don't explain well or give enough pictures, but this seems to be pretty striaght-forward with minimal soldering experience
- mattmeow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Keep in mind LED's have polarity (they're light emitting DIODES.) Make sure your + and - go to the correct sides of the "test points." The side of the led that is flat is the negative side.
- Shuk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9It's neat, but I don't really see the point. I'm not looking at the nunchuck while I play, and I don't want my eyes to wander off the screen to look at my controller. Maybe its just me, but I'm not a big fan of the Dualshock's Analog button glowing red, or even the bright green glow on the power button on my monitor.
- MisterEd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Man, someone needs to go back to school and learn English.
"useing the Triwing Screwdriver"
Remember the simple rule, E goes away when ING comes to stay.
"make shore the solder has set prople"
That would be sure and properly.
I also really hope he insulated the legs of the LED before he soldered it. Having bare metal sitting on top of a circuit board is just asking for trouble. That will short out quite easily. - MSTK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Numchuck" doesn't mean anything... it's usually just a really bad typo.
- Ashex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That looks pretty cool, but a not so pretty mod.
One big led on one side only looks cool in pictures. In real life it'll look like what it is, a big led under the nunchuck (think a big blue light right under it, and then that nice glow around the bottom that you see in the pictures). I'd rather use 1.8mm and hook a few up in series around it. Also, ALWAYS wrap the exposed leads. Leaving them bare like that is idiotic, you're just asking to short a connection. - Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4if i had 2 nunchucks I would try this, but i am not going to risk my only one, they are still too hard to find.
- theragu40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dude, the systems just came out. Give it a little time, would ya?
- CrazyForSW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4wiimotemods.com have really good tutorials. Tons of pictures and good instructions.
- anonatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cool, I will put my affiliate link on digg, nobody will notice the string of 30 extra characters tacked onto the end of the URL! I r t3h uber 1337z!
- Guitarsenal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Yeah, a 3mm LED draws a TON of power!
Seriously, a single AA battery could power that LED for months."
Incorrect. The mod as shown will draw more than 20ma for the LED. It would run the pair of batteries down within 24 hours. - Rikkochet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah, a 3mm LED draws a TON of power!
Seriously, a single AA battery could power that LED for months. - arbiterxero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a difference, the wii doesn't look like the brick that the original xbox did. Why mod something beautiful?
- jezmck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol, good luck with that!
- JasonMD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2want a cookie?
- Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Honestly from reading the description I thought "wait there's a light in there?". Then I read the article.
- link470, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a Microsoft product :) Everyone seems to hack Microsoft first these days. If it's made a by a leading hardware and software manufacturer like Microsoft who also makes the most hacked operating system, I'm thinkin the XBOX is a good place to start modding.
- tim507, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2here are some other cool uses of LED's: http://www.timothyallard.com/revitalizingpixels/resources/v3/interesting-led-gadgets.html
- styromaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In addition to what Mattmeow said: Another way to identify the - and the + is to look at lead length. The shorter lead is the - end and the longer lead is the + end.
- DreKor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1some non-photobucket pictures would have been even more useful
- goeatsmsht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I would have loved to try this out, Would have loved to see some pictures too, but............
- olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nope
- mav7469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ok.. that does it.. I am going to have to go out and get a Wii today.
- TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great, the guy decided to use a free photobucket account instead of a premium.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1While it looks awesome I despise how bright the blue lights on the remotes are. Maybe its just me.
- Lafftermath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This isn't a real comment...
This is why there should be a senseless bitching section. - stratking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like it's time to break my nunchuck :)
- HsoKinees, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1i wonder if Nintendo would integrate this kind of thing into future versions of the nun-chuck, but with multicolour LEDs that would change colour when a certain event happens in a game o_o
- Keimatsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sweet.

Does Nintendo use the term nunchuck or numchuck? - Philbert, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I believe it's actually Nunchaku (both singular and plural)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nunchaku - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Nintendo, HINT* HINT*
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2This is "Gaming News" according to you guys?
WTF is wrong with you Wii people? Why are you physically unable to post articles to the right topics? Is it really that ***** hard? Not a single of the dozens of Wii posts in Gaming News belong there - they belong in "Offbeat News", "Industry News", in this particular case in "Mods". - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0get a nunhcuk at 25 here

this isnt ***** news - Broccoli, on 10/12/2007, -41/+1No im not, mabey i have some bad nunchucks. But im serious.
- Broccoli, on 10/12/2007, -56/+2I didnt even know there was a light on the nunchuck and i fricken own a wii. Wow i must be oblivious.
