Cool, I'm not surprised, the DS is a cool handheld. - wtfdan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32Though you could turn that around and say that the Nintendo DS is over 100 dollars, and it says a ton about the system.
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -4/+32taking into consideration that most barbies are under 20 dollars, thats not saying much.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27in other news everytime a bell rings a psp gets sold.
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Makes sense. I just bought my DS lite yesterday (not joking). Mmmmmm gettin my mario on.
- Toon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25I always like things like this. Nintendo has sold one DS every two seconds. If you stacked Oreos on top of one another it would take 4.5 trillion to hit the moon! A full-grown cow eats the equivalent of twelve bulldozers in a year. If a bat pooped gold, it could make 1750 Victorian-era pocketwatches in its lifetime. According to the average world's religious beliefs, there's a 75 percent chance that, if Santa Claus existed, he wouldn't even believe in himself.
By the way, don't quote me on those. I just pulled them out of my ass (which, by the way, is actually capable of holding 40 monogrammed handkerchiefs on average). - shinynew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+24do your part. I have done my two seconds.
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21I bought a ds lite just for the broswer (which comes out in a while). I though that I would buy Brain Age and the new Mario Bros and I am actually impressed. My friends and family are now addicted to Brain Age and they bought a ds lite because mine was constantly being used.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20went and traded in my psp and all my ***** for a ds lite and a couple games today. best F***ING move ive ever made in video games. i really love this frickin thing. goooooooo nintendoooooooo.
bite me sony, u screwed me with prices, games, and functionality.
wii is for mii - Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Interesting statistic. I'm going to start messuring the rest of the day in 'Sold DSes'.
- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -9/+23Isn't a Barbie sold every second? Come on Nintendo, you can beat out a doll!
- maledin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I have already convinced 5 people, not including myself, to buy a DS lite. I think this should put me in the ranks of Nintendo Salesman... ha ha ha.
- TrainwreckX, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I've bought 3 of them, but that's all I can handle for now. Gotta save for the Wii.
- toppgun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10the psp is for teenagers who think they are getting a system for adults. i am a 17 year old, most of my friends with handhelds have psp's. i have a ds lite. i have had 3 friends trade in their psp's for ds lites after trying mine. nintendo is for anyone who isnt a GTA addict. PSP movies suck, the quality is horrible, its ultra compressed and you have to buy a dvd and a umd. psp was a lost cause. atleast the DS is innovative with the touch screen. being in high school, i have been playing brain age over the summer to keep from going brain dead, it works.
- FishyJoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Go NTDOY! I've already made enough off of my shares to buy a DS Lite, Wii and a few games. GO GO GO!!!
- hrdcregmer808, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8The DS is a good system with some great games...... I feel honored to own one...
- Etheo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8why does a person need 3 DS? (actually there's two of you)
but then I can't disagree, given the opportunity and money, I might actually own multiple DS lites as well. These little bastards are such party goers. - motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@hammydude I am having load of fun with the New Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart DS, Castlevania, Trauma Center, Brain Age, and I am looking forward to Star Fox DS and FF III. It is a great system and worth every penny.
- synaesthesia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Its actually out now (in Japan/via import at least), im planning to grab a copy later today. I've heard its not GREAT (a few rendering problems, bad load times) but most of the sites I browse are text-based anyway.
- Insert31990, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6To be honest, New Super Mario Bros. looks fine on the DS screen.
But I do see where you're coming from. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I just picked up my DS lite to replace my old DS, and am quite impressed by the improvements (But why for the love of all that is sacred, can they not let me control the brightness on the fly?)
That said, I still find myself playing with my SP frequently. The DS is a nice portable system, but it's still too big and bulky for on the go gaming. - TeraByteTyrant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ugghh it takes 10 frikkin DS's to load this damn page
- mrkmrk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I've liked...
Metroid Prime Hunters
Mario Kart DS
Animal Crossing: Wild World
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
NEW Super Mario Bros.
Meteos
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
There are a lot more. Those are just my favorites. I'm looking forward to FFIII (never released in US before!) and Starfox.
EDIT: Crap. I forgot Brain Age. Brain Age games kick some serious ass. - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5and sony is probobly ticked
sony execs: THIS IS NOT HAPPENING - mooiez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I was a DS hater, but after trying it out I changed my mind. I got my DS Lite on launch day and never looked back.
The DS has renewed my love for Nintendo. Sony better watch out; their number one position will seriously be challenged by the Wii60 combination. - micro506, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When you go to the store...?
- Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Last I heard, a baby is born every 3 seconds. Nintendo now rules the world...... :D
- ahannemann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I picked up a DS lite the day it hit the shelves here in the us just to play the New Mario game. I also picked up brain age.
My wife then stole my shiny new DS so I had to go buy another one. I took care of 4 seconds for Nintendo and the fact that I can play Mario Kart on the internet (not that I really do all that often yet) is just really cool. Now I have something to do when my 4 year old wants to spend all day running around at McDonald's play area. - motang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yeah it's is cool, I have lots of fun with mine.
- ZeroArmada, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ugh, that's it. I submit. Sony, you've failed me yet again; I'm tradin' this PSP for a DS Lite.
- brianbennett, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I bought a DS Lite yesterday... just 'cause.
- TheToon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2for the first time ever, my wife has gotten addicted to a videogame, thanks to the DS, and Animal Crossing: Wild World.
Now I just need to get the cash to pick up a second one so that I can get mine back. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I saw the opera browser on lik-sang, its pricey though at $50
I don't think its worth $50, maybe $20 is worth it
I am seriously considering getting a ds lite. The last gameboy I had was a gameboy advance, the ds just looks so much superior and more fun. I didn't really like the original ds because it looked too clunky. Sometime next week I will have a nice shiny ds lite
What games should I get? - jonathanex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In other news, in a special promotion on the UK retailer GAME's website, 50 DS Lites were sold in less than a minute. 3 times. It did help they were halve price though.
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2At first I was going to get a DS (Old or Lite) for the browser coming out but then I heard it comes out this winter and by that time I'll have my Wii and won't really care.
Then I went to the Nintendo Store in Manhattan and actually got to play and I'm pretty much ready to go out and get one. Nintendo really hit the mark this time around and if the Wii and just as good for consoles at the DS is for handhelds then they have it made. - JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've got two normal DS and one lite. I love them.
- Etheo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heh buddy you beat me, I only convinced 4 of my friends to get a DS lite in 1 month time, but right now I got 3 other really impressed friend who's seriously considering getting a DS. Go Daigasso Band Brothers! Keep helping me raking in DS buddies!
- MoeWasHere, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks for that! I've been meaing to ask that very question.
- tombomb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah,,, all my friends are like "No, the DS Sucks and I won't buy one" so I don't have any friends to play multiplayer with. it sucks but the DS is still a kickass system.
- neocitron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1still use my DS Lite.... though there seems to be a drought of NEW titles... i can't wait for Zelda and Star Fox.
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I find Tetris more fun on the Nintendo WiFi. You'll just get frustrated playing people in Mario Kart...those cheating bastards. As for McD's...free Nintendo WiFi access at some locations.
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What do business days have to do with anything? First, stores are not closed on weekends. Second, many stores are 24 hours. So why would you subtract that time? Also, the claim is not "DS sold every other second during business hours." There is no qualifier to it.
Its an impressive idea, but its a little bit of fuzzy math. Or what someone might call "hype." - jknevitt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not surprising, since Nintendo's stock has DOUBLED in the past year. If even half the Wii hype turns out to be solid fact, you can expect that share price to go up by another 50% by this time next year. Buy up big, folks, because the Nintendo money train's coming into the station!
- Myrak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have a regular DS and a few games I bought at launch, waiting for the prices to come down and I'll get a DS Lite, along with a Wii later on next year. Can't wait.
- ahannemann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another thing with the whole DS vs PSP is that all of your old gameboy games work with the DS so you can still play your GBA SP games and even earlier games if you so desire which means the catalog to choose from is gigantic.
The PSP has what, 2 or 3 games? The only game I want to play is the GTA game, but it's not the end of the world... - kdingo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perhaps you meant Wii is for !!M
- SUNderhaus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would it float??? I'm pretty sure it'd sink pretty darn fast. :P
- psionicman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1just to clarify for anyone who is thinking about buying one, it won't play any gameboy or gameboy color games, only GBA (and DS games of course). so don't throw out your GB[P|C|Advance[SP]] just yet
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1last nintendo item i had was a gbasp but i have a crapload of games i can get my roadtrip gaming on so meh
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Unfortunately, the math isn't there.
612 days since the November 21st, 2004 launch x 86,400 seconds in a day = 52,876,800 seconds since launch.
With 21 million units sold, that only comes out to one sale about every 2.5 seconds. -
