And I hate when your the banker,
where did you get the pink 50's you cheating whore!
Don't ***** touch me grandpa, NANA is a cheating whore! - underburn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+44I call mario hat!
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40"These things are just cash grabs, and marketing gimmicks."
I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. I was too busy being LINK'S ***** SHIELD! Hello!
Can't wait. - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34It's disturbing that there's a space that says "Princess Zelda - Price $300"
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -4/+26I just fired off an email to my brother with the link and a message reading, "I CALL THE NINTENDO CONTROLLER." I thought I was so clever but it looks like half the readers on Digg were thinking the same thing (except for different pieces). Lol.
- mercano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Tetra: $250
Princess Zelda: $300
Shiek: Priceless
There are some things rupees can't buy... - steponsnyder, on 10/12/2007, -5/+22Who else clicked this story assuming it was going to be a Monopoly game for the Wii?
- rustyrobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I like how Waluigi has the first square (Mediterranean ave). He was always my least favorite Nintendo character.
- jpwhitmore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15i'd say more fantastic then disturbing....
- jonshipman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I'd rather see the "character" spaces replaced with Nintendo "places." As much fun as I would have "buying" Princess Zelda... having Lon Lon Ranch or Star Road as spaces to put up hotels, etc. would be more logical. If they had Star Road, then I'll buy Tubular ;-)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10A Nintendo Clue!
Mario did it, in the underworld, with the magic flower. - DCstewieG, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Captain Obvious to the rescuuuuuuuuuue!!!
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Lisa: These hotels are made of Legos. Bart, you're cheating!
Marge: Lisa, it was probably an accident.
Lisa: Oh, sure, you take his side, just because he bought you that house on St. James Place. - Nitro420, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I call hylian shield!
- nights0223, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Aren't those Link's boots?
- mayan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6*sigh* You're right. It pays to RTFA, huh?
I just saw Samus on the board and assumed they would be her High Jump Boots. - merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11onishenko's right to an extent. There are probably over a hundred monopoly variants out now:
Wikipedia's list is huge, and it's incomplete:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_(game)#Themed_Monopoly_games
These things are just cash grabs, and marketing gimmicks. This is basically a giant nintendo ad. Except you pay for it. - CharlesDarwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Burns: [menacing] I want that oil well. I've got a monopoly to
maintain! I own the electric company, and the water works -- plus the hotel on Baltic Avenue!
Skinner: That hotel's a dump and your monopoly's pathetic. - WillyWonka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Princess Peach is $300. Cheap!
- RandomSkratch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5They're missing the mushroom too.. I say get rid of one of the link pieces or the DK barrel for the mushroom or even replace Mario's hat with it. It seems to be more recognizable than his hat. They should have had 1 piece from multiple games instead of multiple pieces from a few games.
- scards, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Oh man - Waluigi is Baltic Ave... how insulting!
I think I'd personally rather be left off a Monopoly board game than be given the title "Baltic Ave." - kdingo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Personally, I think the spaces on the board should be places in Nintendo games, not characters. I'd like to buy places like Yoshi's Island or Brinstar or Port Town II or even Corneria!
- greyghst168, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5In NFL Monopoly, you buy football teams rather than property, so this is not an unprecedented change in the game.
- Funny192, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4LOL - That is awesome! And in the orginal press release, as one can see in a paragraph crammed at the bottom - it said they misspelled "Yoshi" for "Yushi" and "Donkey King". Nice. They also have the Kroopa Toopa Shelle - I call that!
- ynggrsshppr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4So instead of buying real estate you're now buying nintendo characters. I love the new player pieces, but I'm not so sure it feels like Monopoly anymore.
- Mudhoney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I still have monopoly for NES. Makes the game a lot more fun.
- mhockey14221, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I thought this was for Wii; not just another monopoly board game spin-off.
It got me very excited :-/ - Daryl209, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Put the lotion in the basket....
PUT THE LOTION IN THE BASKET! - M3ntok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There's gotta be a really great Princess Peach/prostitution joke in there. Please, someone make it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@jpwhitmore
I love the Dane Cook reference.
"Because no matter how much you think you love Monopoly, you hate Monopoly" - Noloco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I got Deluxe and the latest Anniversary one. Sure it's a gimmick to make all these various boards..But it's creative. I enjoy it ever so much and for you all who don't Fine then go play Candy land..Hell even Candy Land adapts to themes at times..So I dunno. Go play Life. I don't think they theme it off of various things. I still wish to see the update monopoly. Anyone got a link on the changes ? But yes this is the most kick ass board they ever have made. Sweet. Now they need one based off of Mario games and Zelda games. :D
- thegreyfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Marge: Why don't we play Monopoly!
Lisa: Which version? We've got Star Wars Monopoly, RastaMonopoly, Galipolopoly, EdnaKrabopoly?
Marge: Lets stick to original Monopoly. - mercano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Mario's hat and the iron boots are there to replace the classic Monopoly pieces of the top hat and the boot. Symmetry and all that. Don't think the other four match up to anything, though.
Growing up we had some aniversy set or another of Monopoly. Came with alot of extra tokens. I rember the battleship and the cannon (my two favoriotes), along with the horse, the race car, the wheel barrow, the train, the hat, the boot, and probalby one or two others I can't recall.
Edit: Oh, yeah, and the Oil Well token, as remined by a comment further down. - EternalDarkWing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3They should have changed the free parking car to a kart from Mario Kart or something. Unless that would be deviating from the classic board too much...
- anthony1124, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2anyone remember the ZELDA board game with card board pieces and what? 8 dungeons? earliy 90's i think. retreo and awsome... really boring though.
- toby34a, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Simply one word... killer.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought so too. Nothing like a Nintendo to get the whole family and all the friends gathered around the living room having a good time. No other system comes close. My friend recently moved to a new home and nobody was focused on the pool table or at the home theater system. All the mid 20 and 30s somethings were taking turns with the NES.
- thesauce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4well microwaved, you're in the minority
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Whole family gathered and having a good time? Ha! Monopoly has caused more fights than any other game I've ever seen in my life.
- thegreyfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lou: Another case of Monopoly related violence, chief.
Wiggum: How do those Parker Brothers sleep at night? - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I think you meant
"nintendo makes you guys look nerdier and nerdier everyday" - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's because Mario is the most iconic of them all!
- TheDarkTipper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hopefully they change Links boots to some other Nintendo icon, since he has 2 tokens
- saigumi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool, when we got our trade catalog in last month, I saw this in there. It didn't have any pieces, it just said "Nintendo Monopoly: Monopoly with Nintendo Themed pieces including..."
When I was asked how many I wanted for the store, I said "Yes! As many as I can get!" - cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it says its goin to be a DS game too, so maybe a Wii version its posible.
- Etheo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Princess Zelda is only $300! I'd buy her instead of playing with my Wii...
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mmm $300 for Zelda... how much for Samus?
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thats awesome, they need to make a microsoft and sony monopoly too. you can play as bill gates, Master chief, or a $ sign. on teh sony side ratchet, crash, RIIIIIIIIIDGE RACER!!!! car or a shiny PS3.
- MetricLobster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sweet..... but i think the pricing on the princess is a little off compared to the other chars..... i mean come on if you got people willing to buy a toad guy.... you just KNOW you can pimp out the princess's for more then 300 bucks
sigh not even the make believe hoes are getting well paid anymore.... - 1337monkeyboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wikipedia has been updated :)
