***** yeah. - Sunscreen, on 08/02/2008, -7/+58Treyarch [sic?] ***** up epically by going back to WWII. Don't get me wrong, I like WWII games, but they get kinda old :p
- fragmanlivith36, on 08/02/2008, -0/+47Cod 5: Lincoln's Legacy
Realistic Civil War Action!!!
Battle as Confederate or Union!
Play across over 20 states!
Real in game amputation!
THANKS TREYARCH! - SwedishNinja, on 08/02/2008, -1/+40Let's have a WWI game.
***** YEAH TRENCH WARFARE! - josh1413, on 08/02/2008, -0/+32I think CoD: World and War is a World War 2 game and it is coming out this fall. Now they are releasing another in 2009.
- Totz83, on 08/02/2008, -2/+29Tell that to the Jews
- Darkaged, on 08/02/2008, -0/+23A lot of people are getting it wrong. It goes like this:
CoD 1 - WW2
CoD 2 - WW2
CoD 3 - WW2
CoD 4 - Modern - Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward) (Current Game)
CoD 5 - WW2 - World At War (Treyarch) (Not this announcement)
CoD 6 - ? - ? (Infinity Ward) (This announcement) - angers, on 08/02/2008, -0/+23COD5 (made by Treyach, the ones who did the ***** cod3) will be in WW2, but COD6 (by infinity ward, who did cod4) we don't know for sure yet.
- h4mx0r, on 08/02/2008, -0/+21Because Call of Duty 1 was made by Infinity Ward?
So technically it's Treyarch's crappier version which needs its own name, as not to spoil the CoD franchise. - ace429k, on 08/02/2008, -1/+20im sick of WW2 games. after playing COD4, why would I want to go back?
- suwoo244, on 08/02/2008, -0/+18I don't get why they keep switching studios???? COD4 > COD3
- M724, on 08/02/2008, -1/+19I'll get it unless it turns out to be another WWII game, at which case I'll pray each and every copy burns up before anyone has a chance to buy them.
- yairagat, on 08/02/2008, -1/+18CoD 7 - PROFIT !!!
- zippe, on 08/02/2008, -21/+36its really a shame that its WW2 again.
- MidnightRIder77, on 08/02/2008, -2/+17***** Treyarch.
- Totz83, on 08/02/2008, -3/+17Nothing will come close to CoD4, I feel, unfortunately..
- Darkangel754, on 08/02/2008, -0/+14Call of Duty 6: Trench Warfare
- NaziHatinChimp, on 08/02/2008, -1/+15CoD: World at War is made by Treyarch and is coming out this fall. It is a WW2 shooter and Treyarch is known for their games to not be as good.
CoD 5 is made by Infinity Ward and and is apparently coming out in 2009, probably 4th Quarter. IW CoD games are usually known for being better games with updated engines a la CoD 4. There is some speculation that CoD 5 will be in the future. - NoobSaibot, on 08/02/2008, -0/+12especially since they always decide to make every single level like a scene from Saving Private Ryan
- xptweakerntn, on 08/02/2008, -1/+12Not in the initial release, but I believe they will add that feature as well as "bad loads" where, completely randomly, some of the weapons backfire and blow your arms off when you fire.
- h4mx0r, on 08/02/2008, -1/+12Can you use your amputated limb as a melee weapon when your camp is ambushed upon during surgery?
- bwdd, on 08/02/2008, -0/+10I'll buy six, which I can safely assume infinity ward is making again.
- kpmoore, on 08/02/2008, -0/+9"since Treyarch is hard at work on Call of Duty: World At War, that Call of Duty 4 developer Infinity Ward will be taking the reins on this one."
This article is not referring to World at War. It's an entirely different game "rumored to possibly have a sci-fi bent to it. Space marines..." - IAmSam14, on 08/02/2008, -0/+9Except its not, it's world WWII in the pacific and the end of the european theater on the russian side, it was in this months game informer.
- pixelate, on 08/02/2008, -0/+9Yes, but that will use up your Perk 2 slot
- 42Vindictive, on 08/02/2008, -2/+11Acitivision, being the uncreative and money-hungry ***** they are demanded that Infinity Ward release one every year. In their infinite wisdom, IW realised that developing and releasing a game in only a year will (OMG) lead to BAD games! So they gave IW the finger and hired Treyarch to make every second CoD game.
So it went kind of like this:
CoD = IW = Great
CoD 2 = IW = Great
CoD 3 = Treyarch = Bad and with vehicles that were *****
CoD 4 = IW = Great, no vehicles
CoD 5 = Treyarch = Gonna be bad, WITH Vehicles, FFS. - cococrispies, on 08/02/2008, -0/+8this article isnt talking about World at War, this one is talking about the installment afterwards which will be headed by infinity ward
- ferrariman60, on 08/02/2008, -1/+9Christ, do we need to lay it all out for you? Fine. The year right now is 2008.
We all together still? Now, stay with me, people!
This is the year (2008, for you slow ones) that COD:WAW will be released. This one is in ww2, but it's developed by treyarch, and is therefore not a real COD game.
Now, in 2009, NEXT YEAR, Infinity Ward will release their new COD game. And I can assure you, that will not be in ww2. Why? Because unlike Treyarch, which just rips off Infinity Ward, they like to innovate with their games. They did COD 1, COD 2, in ww2. Then they went to a new time setting for COD4, which is their third.
Bonus tip: If you look on the left side of the main menu in COD4, you can faintly see the Infinity Ward atom, with IW3 written nearby. That's "Infinity Ward 3," or their third project. They aren't happy about Activision bringing Treyarch into the COD universe, but they can't do much about it, unfortunately. - IAmSam14, on 08/02/2008, -0/+7CoD5 will be the one by Infinity Ward in 2009, Treyarchs isn't numbered.
- chaos7, on 08/02/2008, -3/+10do we know for sure that it is?
- sturmgiest, on 08/02/2008, -1/+8Guys come on, WW2 isnt that bad. CoD2 was awesome. CoD2 with CoD4's engine and graphics would be amazing. Bullet penetration was the biggest thing missing from CoD2. I love the single player. A new WW2 CoD game with 4's engine would be worth it.
- Treblex, on 08/02/2008, -0/+7CoD 6 - 2142
- KSUdesigner, on 08/02/2008, -3/+10Unless they're going to bring a completely new way to play (doubtful), they should just make a whole new set of downloadable maps for COD 4 and focus on making COD 5 something completely new. And when I say a whole new set of maps, I mean more than just the handful of maps they offered a few months ago.
- Ohnodonho, on 08/02/2008, -0/+6Really people? Stop with the WWII hate. First of all, this is not the WWII game, World at War. This article is about ANOTHER game in the works by Infinity Ward and not Treyarch which they have planned for 2009.
That is all. - btschul, on 08/02/2008, -0/+6Treyarch is like the Joel Schumacher to Infinity Ward's Christopher Nolan. ***** Call of Duty 5, I'm waiting for 6.
- alexmensen, on 08/02/2008, -0/+6I'm actually pretty excited taht COD:WAW is coming out. Maybe I'm the only one who likes ww2 shooters but I think the pacific element hasn't been represented yet by Call of Duty.
- Philmer, on 08/02/2008, -1/+7That would be awesome actually.
- sturmgiest, on 08/02/2008, -0/+5you are not the only one, I think all the CS people moved to CoD4. They hate WW2 games. Just watch any CS player try to survive in Day of Defeat. I want CoD WW2 with the updated engine in 4. As long as Treyarch uses the engine from 4 and does a decent job of updating the stuff from two and building a new story, it should be good.
- synergye, on 08/02/2008, -1/+6because nobody actually cares
- andre321, on 08/02/2008, -3/+8One copy is enough for me.
- OMGRussellCrowe, on 08/02/2008, -0/+5Don't forget CoD: United Offensive expansion pack which was made by Treyarch and IMO had by far the most fun and addicting online play.
- nunofgs, on 08/02/2008, -1/+6Why do they keep calling the Infinity Ward games Call of Duty? They're so much better and different that they deserve their own name. I guess they're going for the brand recognition for a quick buck.
- chaos7, on 08/02/2008, -0/+4you're talking about the wrong game. the article discusses the CoD game that will come out AFTER WaW.
- forcedfx, on 08/02/2008, -0/+4Don't forget about blood letting! America, ***** Yeah!
- synergye, on 08/02/2008, -0/+4I really hope there was no pun intended in that statement...
- wwwdot1jesdotus, on 08/02/2008, -2/+6CoD5 has been in development for 2 years and is looking darn good if you ask me. How about playing it before passing judgment?
- PopASquatt, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3Wrong. Gray Matter merged with Treyarch therefor a good deal of the development team that worked on UO are now working on WaW.
- NoobSaibot, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3probably so they can churn them out faster; they know that the name Call Of Duty will sell regardless of the actual quality of the game
- inactive, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3They should add underwater demolition missions or more air support missions. Some kind of space assault mission would be great too.
- pixelate, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3I feel like the COD4 success formula is pretty well defined. I don't see any reason why they couldn't duplicate it with a different setting.
They've definitely earned my money for the next installment (IW's, obviously), so I can't wait to see if they pull it off. -
