- SumguyTwentyOne, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7Censor? Seems like he just wants to add parental controls and make age ratings more noticeable.
- NaziHatinChimp, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5There already is Parental Controls on the 360 and there already are age ratings on a package.
- Psykus2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5"The law will require parental controls on game consoles by 2010 and prominent displays of age ratings on game packages."

QFT. - C4Strife, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4I live in New York and just let me tell you the law isn't this extreme. But I mean come on, the Governor only passed the law cause he's blind. Dude's jealous he can't even play video games.
- Nobiting, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3People are stupid.
- bluepill2, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3You know what's the best Parental Control ever made? I can say it in three words:
Give A *****.
Sit with your kids, spend time with them, see what they're doing, talk about it, tell them why some things are okay and others arent, in short: Be a Parent. For godsakes, don't leave that job to the goverment! The goverment is the LAST -thing- you want teaching your kids right from wrong. - atobkindaurl, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1"Then-Gov. Eliot Spitzer made a high priority of the issue in 2007 and it was the subject of several press conferences. The effort continued in the Legislature after Spitzer resigned in March after being disgraced in a prostitution investigation."
How about you try to regulate yo-self!!! - KSUdesigner, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2The "problem" is that those things aren't required by law. Once parental controls and ratings are required by law, they can then fine anybody who doesn't comply with the law. You sell an M-rated video game to a minor right now and technically there is little that can be done (really this depends where you live, some areas have actual laws in place, others do not). Once this becomes law you will start seeing fines being handed out left and right. It's just another way for government to find a new source of income.
- duggtodeath, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Wait, so they want the industry to do the parenting for them? ***** that. Stop being lazy parents. Also, why is the blind man leading those with sight?
- solidus636, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Controversy gets dugg.
- Tessela, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I love how video games are used as a "blame-all" and "fix-all" for politicians and authorities. Children who are that easily influenced by such a large extension of reality, need therapy.
- tehjabba, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0Regardless of whether or not these systems and ratings are in place, once laws like this one are passed it will hopefully make whining and political maneuvering regarding video game censorship a non issue.
