- TheWilder, on 04/20/2009, -1/+185Here's an important piece of information that seems to be neglected from this story.
BlackDove from Joystiq:
"I notice that nobody realizes Feargus Urquhart, Chris Avellone and Chris Parker, the executives of Obsidian were the top people at Black Isle, who in turn made Fallout 1 and 2.
The news that Fallout is going back to the original creators is not only not reported in the article, but also spawns replies such as "where brotherhood expansion"?
Am I the only one that realizes the significance of this announcment? Every media outlet is reporting on Obsidian being the creator of KOTOR 2 and Alpha Protocol.
Shouldn't you mention that Obsidian is held by the people who made Fallout 1 and 2?
Doesn't that seem a bit important?" - FalseProphecy, on 04/20/2009, -9/+126Perfect. I don't know if they can make Las Vegas any more of a wasteland if they tried.
- CrimsonBlur, on 04/20/2009, -1/+66You mean another Elder Scrolls?
- misternils, on 04/20/2009, -5/+67You made me sign in just so that I could call you an idiot. If you think that fallout 1 and 2 were unremarkable then you must have been 7 when they came out.
- shujin, on 04/20/2009, -3/+60radioactive-ghoulkilling-***** dugg
- Lavarock, on 04/20/2009, -5/+58War.
War never changes. - geoman2k, on 04/20/2009, -1/+50awesome.
i hope they hire some better animators this time though. fallout 3 was like playing with marionettes. awesome marionettes, yes, but still marionettes. - jtbndy, on 04/20/2009, -2/+33You are obviously one of those people who think Fallout 3 is the first Fallout game.
- Brizzyce, on 04/20/2009, -1/+28This is one of the worst comments I've ever seen on Digg.
- Briosafreak, on 04/20/2009, -3/+30It will be like New Reno from Fallout 2, but in the FO3 engine
- SpectralSounds, on 04/20/2009, -2/+28Dumbass comment that includes a dumbass grammatical error. Double points for you.
- Churnedrock, on 04/20/2009, -4/+30i was hoping for another Oblivion...
- bigmuffpi, on 04/20/2009, -1/+26Unless you're a total completionist, F3 is pretty short for Bethesda standards. I beat the game and maxed my level at around 25 hours.
The DLC should add some extra time though I dunno how much. *sadly owns the gimped PS3 version*
On another note, I'm glad and surprised this is even COMING to PS3! - rebotfc, on 04/20/2009, -1/+22♯i don't want to set the world on fire...
- jsdratm, on 04/20/2009, -0/+21BINGO BANGO BONGO I DONT WANNA LEAVE THE CONGO OH NO NO NO NO NO!
- FoxtrotUSAF, on 04/20/2009, -0/+21Good bye, social life. I hardly knew thee
- MasterGrief, on 04/20/2009, -2/+22It's pretty crappy when you're trying to play it real-time, but if you always use the VAT system with weapons you've got a lot of skill with, you'll usually be okay. If I had a complaint with combat, it'd be that the weapons degrade far too quickly. I know they're all serious antiques, but proper gun maintenance isn't that difficult, and shouldn't so often involve the destruction of similar weapons.
- misternils, on 04/20/2009, -0/+20Thank you for supplying that info, it gives me some hope.
- dronkmunk, on 04/20/2009, -1/+19^You made me sign in just so that I could digg you up.
- rebotfc, on 04/20/2009, -3/+21Hopefully they can fix the ***** that was the last third of the fallout 3 story before the new game is released.
- KublaiKhan, on 04/20/2009, -2/+19"It's the first Fallout that matters. Fallout 1 and 2 are like The Elder Scrolls 1 and 2; they sucked."
Blasphemy! You whippersnappers want nothing but pretty graphics nowadays. Can't appreciate a good story and revolutionary open-ended gameplay. - MasterGrief, on 04/20/2009, -0/+15Well I think this is actually good news for another Elder Scrolls--if Bethesda isn't developing the next Fallout on its own, then they'll be able to devote more resources toward completion of Oblivion's sequel.
I can hardly wait to see either game. - sfury, on 04/20/2009, -3/+17Fallout 2.
By pretty much the same bunch that are in Obsidian now. - Myonosken, on 04/21/2009, -0/+13he's hacking and wacking and smacking
- neozeed, on 04/20/2009, -1/+13The spiritual successor to Wasteland finally comes home.
I know this one will be awesome for sure! But war, war never changes. - dronkmunk, on 04/20/2009, -0/+12But I like repairing stuff.
- MadHarvey, on 04/20/2009, -0/+12I want you all to concentrate as hard as you can on the phrase:
This is like Nintendo announcing a new Mario game. - Sefus, on 04/20/2009, -0/+11I just started playing Fallout 3. Love it so this is great news!
- nepidae, on 04/20/2009, -0/+11He should have capitalized Wasteland imo :)
- NinjaGod, on 04/20/2009, -0/+11Oh come on, that's hilarious.
Dugg you up. - MOJIRA, on 04/21/2009, -1/+12Don't sweat it, you wouldn't have fitted in, you know, being from medieval England.
- LawScholar, on 06/25/2009, -2/+13I understand the Sony complaint, but you are mad at Microsoft for being a competitive company?
- Gizza, on 04/21/2009, -0/+11Character models and animations in Oblivion were horrible. They looked so awkward. And don't even get me started on the jump animation. For a game that had so much effort put into every other department it really stood out.
- Churnedrock, on 04/20/2009, -1/+12yea my bad haha, long day
- inactive, on 04/21/2009, -1/+12TUNNEL SNAKES RULE
- jenado, on 04/20/2009, -3/+14Give us Elder Scrolls V!
- TheXboxReview, on 04/20/2009, -1/+12Yeah, KOTOR 2 was such an unfinished game.
- shiftkgb, on 04/21/2009, -0/+10Choppin' that meat!
- abrasion, on 04/20/2009, -2/+12LOL @ bagelmaster "I'm 21 and........"
You dumb *****, I'm 31 and I don't even have enough gaming exposure, let alone a 21 year old, you were 5 when Doom came out for ***** sake and 9 when Fallout came out.
Stop posting, you're an embarassment to the game community. - FFXIfrohike, on 04/21/2009, -4/+14I felt like I'd stepped into Bizarro world when I read this comment, where Bethesda is an evil corporation, Fallout 3 wasn't worthy of the Fallout series, and KOTOR 2 was rushed.
Then I stepped back into the real world and dugg you down. - ksalminen, on 04/20/2009, -2/+12I came.
- NathanielJ, on 04/20/2009, -1/+10They're already working on ES5, and it also has a release date somewhere in 2010 last I heard.
- EoNhausen, on 04/21/2009, -0/+9Maybe this time they won't make the PS3 version the red headed step-child.
- MasterGrief, on 04/20/2009, -0/+9That's just sort of a Bethesda trait. Have you seen the way people sit down on benches at tables in Oblivion? When they enter the animation, both arms shoot straight out as they lift a leg over the seat and only go down when the other leg comes over. That's just one example of many, but at any rate, it looks like Bethesda isn't actually going to be making this game on its own. Hopefully they'll use Obsidian's animators.
- staffell, on 04/21/2009, -1/+10How can it be important to you if you think the games are unremarkable?
- burketo, on 04/21/2009, -0/+9dogmeat better be included.
- LibertyPrime, on 04/20/2009, -0/+8Seeing as it's Obsidian and not Bethesda Softworks, This great news. Next year we might get another Elder Scrolls AND Fallout.
- checkslash, on 04/20/2009, -0/+8The pies are the crustiest..
- kcp12304, on 04/20/2009, -0/+8It was still pretty good. I blame Lucas Arts for being greedy.
- angers, on 04/21/2009, -0/+8Just wait until Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 come out. Half the planet will be gone missing in real life for months.
