- jull1234, on 10/12/2007, -0/+43ha ha, because that's exactly what people playing an ass-ton of video games need. Burger King food.
- taxman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27How about just some Microsoft points.
Or a tie-in with arcade games. Say for example, complete 25 achievements in Crackdown and get pacman for free.
Food or anything that requires mailing will be basically very tough to pull it off internationally as prices and cost of living changes. Not to mention that additional staff required to do this in every country. Remember only 50% of the 360 owners are in the US. - The_Wallbanger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21When I told my wife about the acheivement points she became obsessed with earning points on Xbox Live Arcade. After several days she completely finished AstroPop and asked me what she gets for all of the points. "Err, nothing. Piece of mind?"
She thought points were like skeeball tickets at Chuck E Cheese or something. She hasn't played since. - revansii, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The stoners would love this idea.
- revansii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13It’s about time I can do something with those stupid points. Because telling my wife I just scored 5000 achievement points just gets me a dumbfounded look.
- btswrkng, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Too bad they're not redeemable for self-esteem.
- jkilby99, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I think I should get 10 achievement points just for reading that...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6At least they should start giving away the themes and gamerpics or something.
- jrizzo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@revansii
As a stoner, I agree. - bacon_skoda, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6$10 off coupon for Vista Basic.
- coldfirenj, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6They should work it out with BK. They seem to have a working relationship with them already (360 BK games and theme). 100 points should get traded for a jr. whopper IMHO. : )
- strangeless, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2well that, to me, looks like proof that they should do this: the crap at chuck-e-cheese is basically worthless, but people would buy 10 dollar games just to get their hands on it.
- akinder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@revansii - Just use a turbo ether, then you'll have 999 MP!
- FederalSource, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3So telling her you scored 5000 achievement points and received 100 Microsoft points will get a better look???? Now, if you show her a Zune, she may understand.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Most people I know, that would elicit, "Why didn't they give you an iPod instead?" or "Can you take it back?"
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree ... as soon as you involve redeeming for goods and services or you involve anything liscenced... Canada gets screwed. Leave it at points which are not tied to one currency and everyone round the world can benefit. Or else it ends up like the media marketplace ... we know you guys in Canada like hamburgers too but the Canadian arm of Burger King said there weren't enough of you playing to justify the expense.
- TimDigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Speaking of BMI its interesting to note that women on avg have a higher BMI than men
I guess its because fat chicks still get laid
my old boss(fat chick) said it best
"No matter how fat I get, the men keep coming"
therefore there is no incentive to lose weight other than health
I'll admit that I'm glad there were "incentives" for me as a guy to lose weight - dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2DatoeDakari,
Clearly, you're right. There aren't many people in the US eating like he is...
http://www.who.int/ncd_surveillance/infobase/web/InfoBasePolicyMaker/reports/reportViewer.aspx?UN_Code=840&rptCode=BCP&dm=5
My BMI's 43, but at least I'm doing something about it. Less Burger King is a start for most people. - revansii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@FederalSource
Won't get a better look, but at least I'll have a 100 MP and the dumbfounded look. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Now they're just going to have to figure out how to stop all the cheating bastards. *cough*stripclubdj*cough*
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bill still owes me a trip to Disney World for trying out Hotmail. I better get my vacation before he sends all that money to the poor kids in Africa. I have useless Disneyana trinkets to buy. To heck with those poor african children with no bed, food, or parents...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Some games already do give you gamerpics. Outpost Kaloki X, for example, gives you multiple gamerpics as you progress through the game. There's no need to tie this in with your gamerscore.
- iZealot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Actually women have chesticals. Big chest = more fat
However yea what you said could be true as well :-D. - slackerbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You mean if it was with Burger King. The article says nothing about it, only the page full of speculation-ridden comments.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1at $20 a pop for 1600 Live Points, it'll take a while for some people.
Plus at that point, it's almost like spending miles with an airline. It's all redeemed points with no cash value. - willizm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hey 'thisisbs' maybe you should go outside and run more or at least hit a gym a few times a week. Having low cholesterol can be just as bad as having high cholesterol. Oh well, you'll probably be depressed and have higher likely hood of committing suicide(according to this publication) to care much about my post.

Ta ta - istor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No. Mass market games have 1000 points. Live Arcade games have 200.
No sure where you got the data to calculate an "average" you do realize you can't just make that up right? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The cheaters will ruin everything. People are trading accounts all over the place, downloading gamesaves right before boss fights or other "achievement points," and even in some cases paying people to get them points. Unless they can find a way to stop this, it will never work.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It'll be funny when people start getting 1099ed at the end of the year for the "free points" they won.
- alx242, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yet again the 360 only focuses on the Hard core gamers...oh well...
- jurbania, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i can foresee an increase in achievement whores. people that enter a live match, collect their achievement, then leave before the match is done. those people suck.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ jurbania- So true- Oh man I can see it now-- "ACHIEVEMENT WHORES UNITE!"
- thisisbs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1your an *****...who cares what people do with their lives as long as they are enjoying it? I eat BK and Wendy's just about everyday and i weigh about 160lbs and i just had a doctor tell me my cholesterol is to low.
- bartyboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Seeing as it's really easy to spike your achievement score (see methods discussed in this thread: http://digg.com/gaming_news/Gamer_Hits_100_000_Gamerscore_on_Xbox_Live) , this rewards program is as likely as Bill Gates sends me $10 for that e-mail I forwarded to 20 of my friends.
No digg. - panahi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I think this is a bad idea. It equates my achievements to something material. The fact that it is Burger King is even worse. I don't want to be chainsawing a locust in half, or making a hairpin turn, and equating that experience with a cheap hamburger. Then again, burgers are tasty.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0@istor Well in any case, that is what would be for Xbox arcade games. 1000 points for mass market games yields roughly $0.06 for every achievement point which would give us 4.8 Microsoft points for every achievement point in the best case scenario. Again, more likely to be the other way around, every 5 or 10 achievement points would yield 1 Microsoft point.
Also consider people who have pirated the games. This would essentially give them free money, something MS has probably thought about. - BuddyDoQ, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Now all they need are achievements for playing demos, but not actually buying any games. =/
I figure if I can hold out another few months I can snag some decent titles for under the $30 mark. Woot! - lariosme, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Yeah, it's not a bad idea to reward players with food so they can head back to the couch afterwards and get fatter and fatter. Thats all this country needs...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -10/+0On average, most Xbox 360 have 200 - 300 achievement points divide amongst x number of achievements. Each game is $60, which makes each point $0.20 to $0.30 (excluding every other value added feature). If Microsoft were to give us "Microsoft Points" which cost on average $0.0125 (1600 points for $20.00) then we would get roughly between 16 -24 Microsoft points for each 1 point of achievement. This is most unlikely because MS would lose money.
Whats more likely is for ever 16-24 achievements points we get 1 Microsoft point. Which is fair and I would like to see it!
~Cheers - DatoeDakari, on 10/12/2007, -21/+5Go spread your fat-ass IMHOs somewhere else, not everyone eats like you do.
