- Remz02, on 10/12/2007, -4/+40Who the ***** bought the core pack anyway? :0
- Herffinator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17250mb will fit on a 256mb memory card... you would still have 6mb left... for bragging rights.....
*sarcasm - Ignignokt01, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13You say that like its a bad thing.
- Hazardc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I dont care how big it is, as long as it fits on the HD and i dont feel like i wasted my time downloading it.
- omatsei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13That's been debunked. It was a fake. He didn't invent anything. It's physically impossible to do what he said he could do.
- kinesis8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Although, it's still just a rumor, I hope this will be true. Games like Lumines Live could've benefited from an increased file limit.

That made me laugh. Was this information smuggled out in microfilm hidden in his shoe heel? - JayD16, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Even if you ask MS you don't get as much as PSN. And even then, Sony realizes that the 500MBs is totally arbitrary. Tekken 5 is alread 800MBs. I'm sure if you brought a killer app to Sony and it was 600 MBs they would let you have it.
- JaytB, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10HD movies and shows, bigger downloads on XBLA, large game demo's.
But uh? Where should I store all of this?
And please don't tell me I need to spend any triple digit number on a measly 60GB HD or something, whenever it would be released .
Bill, if you read this, give me a bigger HD. Heck, I would even pay a ridiculous amount (from a consumers' standpoint) for a 'Special MS External HD connection cable' (which would probably cost you less than $1) that would connect any HD on my 360. - haooken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Or was it shared under the Cone of Silence?
- unfinity, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13"Who actually uses a memory card for XBLA games?"
People who bought the core pack, and then got the memory card as a cheaper alternative to the HD. I'm not saying it's a great idea, but that's who's doing it. - edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Pity you can't just swap in any drive you want using a standard SATA connector.
- cinnix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@pathy
erm, is built on Unreal Engine 3 with ProFX Texture compression
http://www.roboblitz.com/HTML_SITE/game/game.shtml
http://www.profxengine.com/ - Hoffer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4MS probably has stats on what percentage of 360 core owners actually buy arcade games. I would bet that percentage is extremely low. That could help with them ditching the whole limitation. I'm sure Sony's 500 MB limit for the PS3 made them take a second look too.
I'm really glad they are doing this. - andydumi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Supposedly some 20% of Xbox 360 owners. So that would be millions.
- potterboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Umm Goldeneye is 32 mb.
- edrift101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lumines would have been better, if they would have sold me the full game at the time of purchase...
- potterboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3WOW, that's my fav. show, dug up for the Get Smart reference. well I guess I will be downloading, and lovin' it
- 355spider, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3About time they got Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie/Twooie on there then.
- chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not long now. I say maybe a year or two before we can download full games.
- rip2roar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4A bigger HD is obviously on the horizon
- cinnix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It wasn't easy, and I'm sure developers will be tearing their hair out now if this is true. They had to use a third party licenced compression technology and vector textures. I bet half the time was spent on squeezing it down to 50mb.
250mb will be badass. If this is true I can't wait to see what games will follow. - GhostFreeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
But enough talk about size restrictions, have at you! - kigol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2not to change the subject but www.goldeneyesource.com is very badass, for now :)
- nreynolds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought Microsoft was saying they didn't want to leave anyone out and that's why they made the limit 50 mb. My memory card is only 64mb so I guess I can't play arcade games anymore. Sure, I'd rather have bought a Premium, but I got it at launch and I couldn't find one. And I'm NOT paying $100 for a 20gb hard drive.
- sdoorex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And a bigger memory card is also likely.
- cheeze69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And, for stuff that you buy, if you have to delete it and re-download constantly to manage limited space, that costs MS money because bandwidth isn't free. It's to their advantage to give users more storage to avoid bandwidth costs.
- jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The limit on downloads is because of the small harddrive on X360 and no way to upgrade. You start letting people download games that are 800mb it's not going to take long for people to max it out. Hard to sell content if everyones harddrive is maxed.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No arcade game reaches up to 250mb in the first place...
- Kola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what made that decision. 830 MB is just sort of a gigabyte and they just started....
- somesthetic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2sounds good.
I hope they re-release Lumines Live under the new policy with the whole game intact.
it deserves better than what it got.
Honestly though, they just need to release more good games of any size. Ms Pac Man? that's pretty sweet and all, but how about something with a little more depth. - krunk4ever, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2what they really need is a bigger hdd. i wonder when that's coming out.
- pseudo.hero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this is true then bigger hard drives are hopefully on the horizon..
- Wisgary, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There are huge 2GB demos you know
- Hexxagonal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1they're not really compressing the textures they're procedurally generating the textures using that middleware tool from Allegorithmic. there is no compression being done.
- cheeze69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You cannot actually use an expanded internal drive like you use the "official" one. And using an external USB drive is nearly worthless IMO because you cannot store the encrypted/paid content on it - just your own mp3s, photos, etc.
- TSSaloic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why cant someone just make a expandable Memory card. I like the SD card for that.
TGIB (Thank Goodness Ive got Broadband).
Happy 1Up Show Premier Day. - jacksons98, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is a good point, but demo's you aren't neccessarily going to keep.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@kigol
nice link - xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Go away, kthx.
- dacheetah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1You can store your movies, music, and pictures on a media centre (or any computer with a media centre like program like tversity) which can have whatever storage medium you like...
And if you don't want to do that, you could resort to buying a larger laptop hard disc, and building a sata interface for your Xbox HDD (I've seen it done, hackaday has an example) and use ghost or the like to move the original xbox partitions over to the new HDD, and then plug it all back in. While I havn't actually seen it done, I've read somewhere that it does work, and you can fairly easily have that 300GB unofficial Xbox HDD.
But yes, it is kind of ridiculous that an Xbox HDD, which is a normal HDD with an adapter and a case, costs so much more than a normal hard disc sans fancy interface/case. - Hexxagonal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1ms pac man has a ton of depth [when compared to pac man]
- thomasprebble, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4I thought the Xbox Live Arcade was for small games you can play whenever you get a few minutes free. Arcade games are NOT supposed to be massive hulking 450mb monsters. They should be small!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1whats the point of using the unreal engine for an arcade game... what a waste of money.
- Keefo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2i never liked Roboblitz that much, although it did look amazing for an arcade game.
but increasing the file size can only be a good thing.
If you dont have the HDD chances are, your going to get one soon.... - AtomicEdge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It would definately allow for some more expansive games.
With a 250, or 450 limit, we could start seeing some Xbox generation games making their way onto the XBLA and that would be a great counter to Sony's playstation download model.
Hell, microsoft could even get Rare to put some of their back catalogue up on the marketplace, I'm sure Goldeneye would cause some ripples in the Nintendo fanboy circit, and I would rather play it on my 360 than my Wii... - kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -8/+6playing catch up again.
- gamerzworld, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Maby we can get some good games on XBLA now!
- Lungkisser, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6Personally I think it's ridiculous. I mean, Roboblitz fit into 50MB, and that game looked and was amazing.
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/12/2007, -16/+11Your mom's a blank page.
