- kkaabboomm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+39so if you do this, the price of a core 360 is less than a wii....
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+28In that case, Core System + HD DVD = $400. Blu-ray eat your heart out.
- ductoogle, on 10/12/2007, -11/+34That's only for retards who can't remember or figure out how to send them.
- djSyndrome, on 10/12/2007, -2/+24Just about. You'll still need a memory unit just to save anything, which is $40, bumping the price to $240 (after rebate). Still, it's a hell of a deal.
- WhereAmI, on 10/12/2007, -6/+25nah, Sony isn't screwed. How many people are actually going to know about this? I never heard of microcenter. And it is in store only.
- markingtime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15You act like theres no tax on the ps3....
- egotripping, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19$400, $300, $200, $100, I'm still to broke to afford it.
- whozyodaddy, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18I've never even heard of a Micro Center store.
- IMustBeEmo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11What is Micro Center?
Great, it appears there a total of 19 locations across America.

Not really true. First off, if you make even the smallest error in your rebate, companies don't have to pay. They know this, and sometimes deliberately make it unclear, for instance, whether they want the 12-digit number on the barcode or the 12-digit UPC code inside the box. Second, there's always a chance of the rebate getting lost in the mail, or misplaced by a careless or malevolent employee. And, of course, there's the trouble and time lost filling out the rebate; usually not more than 1/2 hour, and surely worth it for $100, but maybe not for $10. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18I hate Mail-in rebates
- JohnBooty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10For those of you that don't have Microcenter in your area, they're like Fry's with about 1/3 or 1/2 of the selection. Miles better than CompUSA, though.
What I like about Microcenter:
1. They don't price-gouge on the little stuff (cables, etc) like CompUSA does. A simple printer or monitor cable that's $7 at Microcenter will be $35 at CompUSA, minimum.
2. Good technical book section. Nice discounts.
For bigger stuff (actual system components) NewEgg still usually destroys Microcenter on price, although considering the overhead of a brick-and-mortar store versus NewEgg's web-only presence I don't begrudge Microcenter on that point. - kaisa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I used to work at a microcenter here in chicago. It's an excellent place...the sales reps actually care about what they sell you and offer up experienced suggestions about what to get/what to stay away from.
If you've got a microcenter near you and have never been to it, I highly suggest you go. Screw Best Buy. - kunjan1029, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Microcenter is actually starting Gaming Departments in the the stores.
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Microcenter: The computer department store
It's actually a pretty nice chain. Think of a smaller Best Buy with fairly knowledgeable staff and lots and lots of computer hardware and peripherals. They also don't stick you so hard on prices for accessories.
For example: That Belkin USB cable that Best Buy sells for $30, Microcenter sells for $12. That 6 foot CAT 5E network cable that Best Buy sells for $20. Microcenter sells for $6.
They've also got a good selection of Apple hardware and offbrand LCD TVs (Winbook, etc - that type of brand). - phidong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7ego,
That's actually construction news. The freeway off-ramp that leads to the Microcenter is being closed and the link gives alternative directions to get there since the off-ramp will be closed for 7-10 days. - knodi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7damn it!! i just got my 360 3 days ago.
- MackPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6everyone saying "I'm not even thinking about buying a 360", consider your faith tested.
- morgrar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Got one on Long Island (New York).
It's an excellent store, when CompUSA, Best Buy, and Circuit City can't cut it for your computer needs (and you need that component for your PC right then and there). - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well I guess this sale is working, I'm Canadian and have now heard of Microcenter.
- raabco, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7can you eat it?
- stevenk87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Holy *****...this sounds too good to be true...and there's a Micro Center that's like 10-15 minutes away from my campus...
- etx313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hey Guys, Seriously beware! I really like microcenter. But out of the 5 Mail in rebates I've done after purchasing stuff there I've only received ONE and it was because it came directly from ATI.
- gwolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4We have them in Colorado.
- JDiZZle300Z, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I work at MicroCenter here in Sharonville OH and we've known about this deal for a about a month and we have 140 360's in stock. I was considering getting one but dont really need it since my brother in law has one. Great deal though, and the reason is this past weekend was the weekend that all the gaming dept were supposed to open (ours isnt done yet, but is open). They're very nice, but the one thing all of us employees are worried about is availability of games for the new dept. In the past we got game two or three days after they were released and that wont cut it if we are striving to be a place where people come to buy games. I usually get mine there cause i know we'll have it cause no one goes there to get them, haha. But, if you're near one and want a 360 , but are weary of rebates, dont be for this one. Its directly from MicroCenter and we usually dont have problems with those, and even if u do just call the store or go back there and they'll help you get your rebate (we'll actuallydo that for any rebate) And this isnt M$ playing with prices either, we're taking a huge hit on these.
P.S. i have the paper ad if anyone was wonderin about the legitness of this. i was gonna post it last week but never got around to it. - naiku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+325minute drive for me.
Im going to wait and see what that amazon.com 100$ package xbox is going to be all about. After the week if over with if i dont get one from amazon ill be driving 15minutes and getting one from microcenter. - djphatjive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Great store. I have been there, its like a best buy for computers.... and tv's
- sherb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Speaking of their sales, one time at my local Microcenter, the manager said "50% off on all clearance items".. Yea, it was a good day - $700 G5. If you have never been there, they have rows and rows of nice, cheap clearance items.
- briansearles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3MicroCenter is a mid sized computer electronics chain (ala Best Buy or Fry's). If there's one in your city - there are only 30 or so nation wide - this is a killer deal. I've never had a problem with MicroCenter rebates in the past and I don't expect them to start up now.
360 here I come! - bz0b, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well I haven't heard of this place before today, but supposedly there is one 29 miles from my house, in Tustin, CA, I guess I have to check this place out.
- johnham, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The only place I will buy computer components from (for a brick and mortar store, at least) is Microcenter. The people at their Cambridge store are knowledgable, nice, and their clearance section is impressive. 100 CD-Rs for $6? I don't even need them but I bought them anyway. I don't go there to buy games though, their prices and selection are inconsistent at best. But when they have sales, they go all out.
This deal is making the 360 dangerously tempting. - junghokim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2do you go to UCI by any chance??
- toddhaid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2there is a big one off the 55... it looks like a warehouse...i always thought it was
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dugg for everyone on Digg thinking of buying a 360. This should have been put in Deals, however.
- markingtime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Then Why even mention the tax in your first post then?
- texagjosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is legit. I bought a unit earlier this morning and the rebate printed out at the register.
- erkokite, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Apparently you can't order it off of their website either. If you look for xbox 360 game systems, you get no results.
- hsoj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just picked mine up.
Whatever you do, when they ask for your email address, tell them you don't have email. I really expected the employees of a computer store to know how to use a keyboard...
It took about 5 minutes for them to enter my address.. they weren't matching.. they misspelled my name (Josh).. They had three employees trying to enter the address. The first one just had to give up so that the other one could type it in (with one finger). I mean it's never been this hard for me to sign up for spam before. - BurntToast, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I wonder if MicroCenter is getting out of the video game business. I don't know anyone that goes there to buy video games at all.
- tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2To all you who have never heard of MICROCENTER it is a great computer store in the US
They even have a website.. http://www.microcenter.com
I shop there all the time. - morgrar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ok, so the majority of Digg users have no idea that MicroCenter exists. Now that we got that cleared, has anyone actually done this? Just think of it this way - if you were planning on getting an Xbox360 or on the fence about it, go out and get it from MicroCenter (if in your area obviously), because you may just save $100 on it. If this deal didn't come about, you'd end up paying full price in anycase.
Good luck to anyone that goes for this. Excuse me, while I get back to Gears of War. :) - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Does the store you bought it at pricematch, and is there a Microcenter in the area? If so, go to Microcenter, get an ad or proof that they are offering the rebate, go to your original store, pricematch, you win!
- DeadlyCouncil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WHY HOME OFFICE! WHY!!
Now I know why they ordered 2,000 360's for Black friday... I work at the MicroCenter in Minnesota, its a really nice place to shop, all you people who say "I've never heard of Microcenter, they must be teh suxorz!" are suckas.
well this is going to make my 13 hour shift on Black Friday a bit more hellish.
Oh and they're opening gaming sections comparable to GameStop in every one of the MicroCenter stores, it's kickass... I played guitar hero for a half an hour after close once... - shadowmoses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There have been a lot of great deals going on with 360's recently all over Europe and America, I don't know if this is to do with M$ tinkering or just retailers, I think we aren't far from a big official price drop!!!
- DeadlyCouncil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and now you can do the smart thing and get an extended warranty! yay!
Lol those things are a lifesaver - snachodog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yay, its almost as cheap to replace my 360 instead of sending it to be repaired for $140! Awesome.
- mcflynnthm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a Microcenter down the street from where I work... Guess where I'm going after work today :D
This is clear evidence that God loves me and wants me to be happy. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+120 miles from my house, i'mma make some money
- Sethbacca, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder if any stores price match with rebates.... hmmmmmmm...
Sometimes I hate being in Maine, we dont have any of the cool stores up here like Frys or Microcenters or even a CompUSA. - tavisjohn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4And if you do make a mistake they do not HAVE to let you correct it! And if they do give you the option to fix it, they give you such a short time from when the correction request is made that most of the time is spent getting the notice to you. And you will be LUCKY if you fill it out right away, to have it arive back to them in time.
