- luckygirl71, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41Damn it, Nintendo is doing a great job of selling Wiis, but I wish they could get these games out. I am getting kind of sick of Wii Sports.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Nintendo - Net play for 3rd party now please :D
- Tackinator, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18I believe it was something along the lines of "NO GAME DROUGHT"
Yeah wii sports kinda lost it's charm - fotd42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14this is a kick in the balls. I was gonna have a bunch of friends over for my birthday this friday, get hammered and play mario party before we went to the bars.
- rewquio, on 10/12/2007, -7/+17Come on now, if there is any console that is not having a shortage of party games, it's Wii. If you just can't get enough of that party game action, check out Rayman, Super Monkey Ball, WarioWare, or Sonic. I think it's a good thing they are delaying MP8, there are already too many party games. I just wish they hadn't delayed Metroid. But my hope is that they did that to add multiplayer support.
- sleepwalkers, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12Dude, just go play a game of Mario Party 7 with three friends. By the time you're done, Mario Party 8 will be out.
- Aggort, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9*Cough* I am so buried for this one *Cough*
Does the Wii really need any more party games? - cracker42, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@FrostRaven
Actually I think a lot of people are looking forward to using the Wiimote in the latest MP for some exciting new gameplay. And get your fanboy crap out of here. - FrostRaven, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8@cracker
Hey Im just sayin, seems like all the Wii is right now is a bunch of mini games and nothing solid or deep (excluding Zelda). There are deeper games out there that aren't as shallow as shakin' your wiimote around. - eric1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I don't know, Mario Party isn't the type of game that can really 'go wrong in development' I would think. After eight iterations, the formula is pretty standard. Granted, the Wii is a new console for the game, but I can't imagine it's that hard to do. I just want more games; I play more GC games on my Wii than Wii games right now!
- Detritus, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11March 13, 2007 Prince of Persia: Rival Swords
March 20, 2007 Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
March 20, 2007 Godfather: Blackhand Edition, The
March 2007 Bust-A-Move Bash! (Another good party game for those unfamiliar with the franchise) - bemaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes, I do believe I also recall such statements.
- kauko, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Seriously now, the Wii is great, but it's starting to feel like a PlayStation 3 -- no content."
Yeah, exactly like PS3 ...three months ago. The "there are no games" argument just isn't valid for PS3 anymore.
No, it's not worth the price yet (for me, that is), but the selection of games is actually quite decent already, and getting better rapidly.
It isn't far fetched at all to say that the upcoming European launch will be the best *ever* in terms of games (let's forget the ridiculous European pricing for now...), even though many of the games are already available on Xbox 360.
Metacritic lists 11 games with a score of 80/100 or more for PS3 already:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps3/scores/
...and only four for Wii:
http://www.metacritic.com/games/wii/scores/ - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Yes, I agree.
It's good to milk the cow -- but hey it's running freakin' dry. I got fed up of Wii Sports a month ago. Zelda was fun too, but it got boring fast too, as well (and this is coming from a LoZ fan since 1986).
Seriously now, the Wii is great, but it's starting to feel like a PlayStation 3 -- no content. The VC helps, but I want new stuff !
...and the vote channel thing kept me busy for a day... NEW STUFF PLEASE !!! - Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7My guess is that they realised the Wii is still breaking all-time sales records, so they bumped even more games even futher. Then when the sales start dropping, they release a crapload of awesome games to keep console sales up.
Or maybe things went wrong in development, or maybe they want to polish it up. Who knows? - o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8All I care about is Super Paper Mario. That game is going to rock!
- Luigi239, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No thanks, I'll just play #1-7 instead.
Really, do we need another one every freakin year? - setrajonas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This "drought" is no different than what the 360 went through last year. I don't see why people are reacting so much more to this.
- Alphateam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Hopefully they will add online play.
- Aggort, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Oh no, don't get me wrong. I know it's going to be a party game heavy system and I love me Wii. I guess what I mean is, do we really need another one RIGHT NOW? I already have Rayman, Wii Sports/Play, Sonic and the Secret Rings (has party games), Elebits, SSX Blur and Smooth Moves! Not including the VC titles, Dungeon Explorer and Bomberman 93 and others. I also have Mario Party 7 (got for free) and Super Smash Bros. Melee! That's alot of multiplayer
- scottjl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4so play your 360 when you're alone and play your wii when friends come over to your house. what's the problem here?
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why not, we get a new Madden every year. As long as they're adding something of value to the game, people will buy it.
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I was reffering to Reggie's promise of a "no Nintendo drought"---not third party drought.
- guitarh3ro, on 10/12/2007, -7/+9No drought my ass.
- Jennica, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Cooking Mama, too right?
- mliving, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5So much for no game droughts and Reggie.
Once any Nintendo has the bull by the horns and is content to run it off the cliff!
Maybe Nintendo doesn't deserve to win if they can't keep their promises across two separate console generations. - Wytefang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2On the one hand you gotta feel bad for fans of the Wii, since they're suffering through the growing pains of a new system but on the other hand, this news isn't contradictory to what detractors of the system have been saying - that this is going to be a slow, slow year for the Wii with most releases having been pushed back and in several cases until the holidays.
- xpose, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Yes. I cant wait to see yet another original mario game for nintendo. /sarcasm>
- aliengoods, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I suppose it depends on your frequency of play and the games you like, but I haven't even bought excite truck or rapalla fishing, so I've got titles to exhaust.
Do you guys play round the clock that you've run out of good games? Zelda was alot of fun, Red Steel was fun once I got used to the funky control scheme, Wii Sports is still the best 'drunk after-bar with friends' game on the market, and I have a collection of gamecube games to go through. And those are just the games that I've tried. There are alot more that look like they might be good and I'll be renting when I get a solid weekend to play. - VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4But "party game system" is honestly what its initial concept was, love it or hate it.
- nipterink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@rewquio: yes there are already a lot of "party" games, but people have been dying to get their hands on a new mario party so that we can actually play games simultaneously. most of the games out that are party oriented contain turn based party games.
- ContactRose, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Exactly. The whole (and ONLY!) reason I bought my Wii, as opposed to waiting to buy a PS3 or 360 was for the party games. Personally, I'm a busy guy and when I want to play a game by myself it's going to be on my computer which has better controls for most single player games that I enjoy anyway (FPS, RTS, etc.)
Wii Sports with its 3 four-person capable games is not enough. WarioWare is a single player game that may be entertaining for others to watch, but it's not what I would really call a multiplayer party game. WiiPlay is a bunch of 2-player games, which is good, but again, is 2 people really a party? It's much better than 1 person games, but again, it's not why I bought my Wii.
There are other fun games out there. I'm enjoying Zelda right now, but I enjoy that genre. Red Steel is ho-hum. I don't get a whole lot of enjoyment out of sticking my arm out to "zoom in" and aiming with the wii-mote isn't very great. It's not even true aiming, the wiimote isn't even truly aiming where the cross hairs are pointing. It takes a learning curve to figure out where to aim, and it's a meaningless learning curve at that. The "chop" to swing the sword is alright, but it's nothing that innovative.
Give me my party games damn it! I'd venture to say that over half of the people that bought the Wii bought it for that reason... the party aspect and interaction (combined) are the only things that really set the Wii apart from its competition. - adam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Costco says October 24, 2007
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'm still working through the old games. Once I finish "Resident Evil 2" (Yes, I'm only *now* getting around to RE2) I'll probably fire up Metroid Prime II and see what happened with that Dark Samus - I should get done by the time that Metroid Prime 3 comes out.
- SyxxtySyxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My Gamestop store has been showing 6/01/07 as the release date for almost a month now. About time some other source supports the fact that it's been pushed back
- manti5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Somehow I knew it would be that image.
- cornerback42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish they'd make a Mario Party where you can customize the mini-games you play and the board your playing on. Like create a board. Or Create a party where you get to have tons of options (i.e. create an item, create an event space, etc.) then you could actually save and play the board. This would let the fans of MP create the best content. You would be able to save them and upload them to nintendo's server. I know me and my buddies have been talking about that since MP3 was on the N64. It gets annoying playing those some of those games and having certian spaces all over the board. I want a fully customizable game.
- curunir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, maybe their delaying it since nobody can find a damn controller, anyway. What good is a 4-player game when you only have 2 wiimotes and 1 nunchuck?
- BuGz213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im hoping for that also... since its delayed by 3 months basically...
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A week before?! Most stores have known this for a while. I found out it was being delayed until "sometime this summer" 2 weeks ago by the staff at Electronics Boutique. When I got home and checked the Nintendo Link (corporate Nintendo product site for retailers) it said June.
- princessangry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well Sonic and the secret rings and Elebits use the wiimote in a very innovative way!
- justice7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why is he being dugg down?
thewebguy has a very valid point. I've also got a Wii60 setup, and my 360 is getting all the attention (aside from when i have people over the odd time)
Wii Sports is getting dull, and we need some new games that really use the wiimote properly... right now there arent any ..
the 360 has so many great games to be played and played online right now its sickening. I like the whole idea of the wii, but nobody is coming close to the 360 so far - thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3if nintendo doesn't get the wii online soon it's just going to collect dust in my living room.
unless there are people over and want to play, most of my gaming is online on my 360. - ContactRose, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Besides Bust-A-Move, what is so special about the Wii version of those games that I can't get on the PS3 or 360 versions (or similar game). If it's not a party/multiplayer game, then there is not much reason to buy it for the Wii.
- Aggort, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Especially with the VC... pick up an old title and enjoy it for a while. Or as I said abovre, go get SSBM that game is time consuming enough to last you a while.
- TDR25, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh Boy! Nintendo's starting back up with their ***** again. Constantly delaying games like they normally do. Nintendo's got a lot going for them right, I wouldn't try to ***** up my momentum, but than again, I'm not on Nintendo's payroll.
- Daveecee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why not just play one of the OTHER Mario Party games? Honestly, they're all the same.
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2"Hey Im just sayin, seems like all the Wii is right now is a bunch of mini games and nothing solid or deep (excluding Zelda). There are deeper games out there that aren't as shallow as shakin' your wiimote around."
Mainly the cheap, Wiimote shaking games come first because they're the fastest to develop (and thusly, fastest to ship). The substantial games come later, and this is true of _any_ console where the game isn't just a port. [And in all honesty, Zelda was a Gamecube port, but the controller added to that game substantially, simplifying things and making the game play out much smoother]. - beepsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Agreed, 2 wiimotes 1 nunchuck here, and the nunchucks are impossible to find at msrp
- Kruse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All I can hope is that it was pushed back to add in some kind of online feature.
Probably not though... -
