- merdiesel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+52This one looks like a shot of the Wii after it just got done ***** the PS3...
http://cache.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/wiiDSCF7155.jpg - Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48But, my Wii looked cold and thirsty.
- jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -3/+42I could not stop laughing when I saw the wiimote-in-face picture. And I thought us Americans were sue-happy.
- soulscreme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35So why can't you insert shamrocks into the wii?
Also, the funniest picture is the kid smiling as he is about to put a plastic bag over his head. - jimmyp, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27The other day I thought I'd stick a four-leafed clover into my Wii for good luck before I play Zelda. I thought that because my Wii didn't boot up that the gods had forsaken me. Now it all seems so obvious! I'm such a silly goose.
- flipzmode, on 10/12/2007, -1/+21What's going on in the pic above the clover one... in the top left corner?

Is that... "Don't let ET play your Wii?" - YesMoreLight, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Yea I remember some of em like:
"Don't take out the black lens piece or else poison gas will be excreted from the console."
or "Don't Pretend your Gamecube is a PS2"
lol Nintendo - stlcadet11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Is that one picture "Do NOT sell your Wii"?
Psh! Nintendo, your console is too good to sell.... - afx1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I like the kid who puts the plastic bag over his head. He obviously bought the Wii for very wrong reasons.
- davidjunit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16I believe there was a similar manual for the GameCube (or other Nintendo game unit) in the past. It seems kinda silly, maybe they do it to be funny.
- soulscreme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I do believe that is telling you to not throw it out with your flammable garbage.
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Thank Science that they released this manual...I just broke my happy feet disk in half last night in a fit of rage and I was about to go to the store to get some scotch tape to repair it.
whew! crisis averted! - Bloc, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/the-japanese-wii-safety-manual-is-crazy-219119.php
jokes++ - wild, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Its not because of the sue happy. Its a fun way to say, dont do these things. I think its pretty great and wish that would have been in the us manual. Its half serious, half joking.
- CannedMango, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Apparently nintendo is really worried about kids going into a sort of wii-madness and suffocating themselves with the plastic wrapping. The kid looks pretty excited to do it though, maybe he's onto something...
- wild, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Wii comes in plastic. ;-)
Now how long before a YouTuber does all of these things as illustrated? - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7'Note: inserting four-leaf clovers into the Wii will not earn you extra points or make the gameplay easier.."
'No, that's not candy." - omnibahumut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6pwnt image: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v143/omnibahumut/pwnt.jpg
- rouslan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This manual is the exact opposite of Soviet-era manuals.
I still have a manual from a 1989 bw 15-tube TV(made in Siberia), which was basically a 2x5 feet circuit diagram of the whole TV, the opposite side having tables, graphs, and circuit board pix. All of this was printed on what seems to be a brown paper towel.
Suprisingly the TV still works. - soulscreme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I guess i should put the plastic bag down and turn the camera off, you got me.
- steger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6in the 4th image, I noticed the wii hates tornadoes.
- Hearshot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I had a japanese Gameboy Advance, the manual was awesome to look at. I learned not to throw the GBA in a fire.
- trunkster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Sadly, I think America needs these more then Japan. They are pretty smart over there.
- punk90, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5dude, that comment just made my day that's just funny.
I also like the blu-ray refrence
http://www.gizmodo.com/gadgets/home-entertainment/the-japanese-wii-safety-manual-is-crazy-219119.php - rouslan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Like "press any key"-they actually need a pix of someone pressing ANY key, not the "Any Key."
- happycube, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Do not taunt or stomp on Super Happy Wii Mote.
- felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I love it - some of these remind me of the old Beagle Bros disk warnings:
http://www.panic.com/~stevenf/beagle/diskcare.html
My favorites were the warnings not to put your floppy disks in a toaster, or feed them to alligators. - everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"note that the plastic packaging is not intended for use for the popular 'space man' costume as seen on SNL"
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I want these combined into a poster and/or t-shirt.
- Tenetri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://www.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/wiiDSCF7180.jpg
Its ok to block a possiable fire exit with your TV... but make sure theres no lights in the background running... may result in loss of time playing Zelda - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4At least I now know that Wiis don't like cigarettes.
- andyrobo60, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It doesn't have a
"Don't throw wiimote at TV" pic.
Thats why you see so many videos on youtube of people who have. - Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Do not put plants inside the Wii!
Do not eat any part of the Wii!
Do not let angry snowmen anywhere near the Wii!
Do not stomp on the Wii!
The Wii is not a bookend! - pap3rw8, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8Oh, those silly Japanese.
- nmaster64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2DO NOT PUT SHAMROCK IN Wii!
http://www.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/wiiDSCF7160.jpg
That has to be the most random thing I've ever seen in an instruction manual. I guess superstitious people are thinking a 4-leaf clover in their Wii will give them better luck while playing... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Look in the 6th image, apparently, your Will doesn't like to be at the top of a very high building. I was gonna take it with me when I go skydiving, guess I can't :(
- rouslan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Compare it with this sort of manual:
http://mukhin.vif2.ru/diving/rebeather/USSR/AKA-60/manual/index.htm
Not the best example but you get the idea for my comment above. - kassaralzabadi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDNY2ByGNYA - kassaralzabadi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My favorite is this one:
http://www.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/wiiDSCF7168.jpg
It actually says: when you throw your wii, dont throw it with the combustible garbage! - bloqmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My TV is above my gas fireplace and I played my Wii on that TV with no problems.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2http://www.kotaku.com/assets/resources/2006/12/wiiDSCF7155.jpg
Wii dislikes smoke. - warbird, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1flipzmode & stoikiometry: "In case of a thunderstorm, stop using the wii" is what it says.
- Cojawfee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Why didn't they include this with the western Wiis? This would have been awesome to look in a language I can read.
- vroom171, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Man that'll teach me never to put my four leaf clovers into the Wii.
- MatttK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Bah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enemies_in_The_Legend_of_Zelda_series#Dodongo :(
- Invisible421, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0My only wish was to get something like that when i got my wii, but i didn't so now i get to sue nintendo! yay for trying to make a living off of other peoples success!
- joerendous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1You'll be seeing the "Do not throw wiimote at TV" pic in the updated US manual.
- afflusso, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Is one of them "don't tuck in your Wii at night?"
- domomike, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Haha these are cute pictures though. But guys, keep in mind that it takes a lot longer for kids in Japan to learn how to read. (Kanji.)
- warbird, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Its nice that people have fun with this, but don't you realize that all the pictures are symbolic? If you actually read what it said next to the pictures, you would understand. Like the four leaf clover thing is "dont insert foreign materials". and the foot stepping on the wiimote is "don't leave the wiimote on the floor". This is stuff that is written in most manuals for electric appliances, but with illustrations. I'm sure if you open your xbox manual or whatever, the same is written there somewhere.
And regarding all the comments similar to the "Since this console is marketed to Wiitards it's not too surprising that a few warnings are in order." one, you realize that there are other stuff that has way stupider warnings right? like "Warning, coffee is hot" -
