- d1rtfarm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1216.) Electrical contacts on the headset, with a red button on the 360 controller. When some pre-pubescent kid starts wailing homophobic, racist nonsense in your ear, you just hit the red button and shock his ass. Like a dog coller really. Heck, i'd even pay an extra monthly fee for that.
- SucKerS4Me, on 10/12/2007, -9/+85t's so obvious:
TOP 5
5) VIDEO CHAT WHILE GAMING to make all games camera enabled. People will love it or hate it, either way it would be welcomed by most.
4) WEB BROWSER, so we can do all the things we already do on our desktops, in our living rooms. I kinda feel left out since all the other systems have one.
3) BOARD GAMES like Monopoly, Scrabble, Pictionary, or Jeopardy. Add video chat and this would be all I do on my 360.
2) OPTIONAL EXPANDED PERSONAL PROFILES to help people get to know one another, if you choose to post your info. This could be set up much like myspace.com and would create allot of controversy and publicity but would probably be a formidable rival to myspace.
1) CHAT ROOMS / VIDEO CHAT ROOMS with small games or topics for discussion. People could make their own rooms under a preset list of categories like RPG, FIGHTING, FPS, SOCIAL, SCHOOL, SPORTS etc... Even if only 4 people can be visually displayed at once and the rest only named, this would be easy to create and welcomed. A system of who talks first would need to be created. or just use the keyboard. Or maybe only the 4 people in the video could be heard and the rest type. Either way i think this would be used and appreciated.
ALSO :
-KARAOKE would be sweet.
*-A CLAN BLADE is completely necessary for xbox.
-LARGE STORE to purchase games and accessories.
*-FREE STUFF is the best way to make new friends.
*-SUPPORT MORE VIDEO FORMATS!!!!!!!!!!!! - cinnix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+50Reputation System - This is clearly abused. People dont very often send you good feedback, but they are very quick to send you bad feedback, especially sore losers who take the game too seriously. This needs to be re-thought. Perhaps your rep shall happen automatically. If you play with the same players often, it should automatically prefer. If you keep getting kicked/kick out a player/mute whatnot, then it shall submit negative.
Group Private chat.
Clan support - Ok so some games allow you to have Tags, like Rainbow 6 : Vegas. But not all games, I don't want to pay 800 points to change my name just for a clan tag, and I don't care how much money you rince people this way. A party system would be cool too, and perhaps a Clan profile with management through Live will be nice.
Clan ladders - I don't care to much about my personal rankings, and theres too much hassle with external ladders and all the burden that comes with it. It will be good if you could play in ladders intergrated in Live.
Web Browser
File Complaint > Under Age. I'm fed up of all the screaming Kids on Gears of War and such. I play to have fun, not to hear some immature lil bitch scream down my ear. - Bara, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46My top Xbox 360 complaints:
1. Can't chat with multiple people over Live.
2. Guide is slow and clunky. It takes a while to actually get anything done over the Guide, because its so slow. It makes repping, sending messages, and checking your co-player's achievements a hassle.
3. No clan support. This should be integrated directly into Live, something like a secondary "friend's list" that can be adopted for various online games.
4. Bungie's matchmaking system should be adopted as the default, over TrueSkill.
5. Support for more video and music formats to stream from PC's. AVI, DivX, and Quicktime files are a must.
6. Bigger hard drive. I don't see how an IPTV service, movie download service, and demo downloading can all be supported on a measly 20GB drive (of which only 13 are useable).
7. Custom themes. Right now we can only set a single image as the background for each blade on the 360. I'd prefer to be able to setup a different image and colors for each blade, as well as the background for the guide.
8. User-created content. Be it user-made themes, homebrew arcade games, or user-made multimedia in the marketplace, give us something to look at, do, and play when official content is not available. - G_money, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37An "Over 30" GamerZone.
- mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -3/+38@markthewiz
WiiConnect24 is no XBL.
Making it free would open the flood gates for 10-year old screamers and cheaters. I sure as hell hope the NEVER make it free. - prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31No! Making it free would amplify the problems. It's nice to know that if someone is banned, it is extremely difficult for them to create a second account (they'll need another credit card with a different billing address).
- Netmindstorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27>>there is no way to verify this
Sure there is:
"Name the characters from the A-Team"
"Who was the bartender on the love boat?"
"Smokey and the ________" (fill in the blank)
"Who really shot first, Han or Greedo?"
"Look boss, the _______" (fill in the blank)
"Did your first car have a carburetor or fuel infection?" (May also be modified to ask if their parents' car had it since that one is kind of on the age line) - 8bit_Hero, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29@SucKerS4Me
MS should not infect xbox live with Myspace or anything like it. The last thing anyone needs is to have to see the emo shots of CUTz4U when they are just trying to figure out who they pwnd at GRAW - gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25it's not broken, it's just not perfect. nintendo online...now that's broken.
- adam84a, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25I'd love to save that $50 a year, but I wonder how much the fact that you have to pay for it prevents additional abuse ? I'd much rather pay a little more actually if it would lower the number of bratty kids that seem to find amusement in being obnoxious.
- halbe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24Podcasts
Vidcasts
Should be easy enough to implement. - thegregas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I disagree. Making people pay for XBL, relegates it to the people who are serious and really want the service. One of the major complaints about Live are the screaming, immature, amateur players. If you think they are bad now, wait until you open it up to everyone for free. At least with a subscription, there is an accountability factor. If you are paying for the service, you are less likely to cause problems that will get you kicked out.
If you don't want to pay $5/month for Xbox Live, then you must not really want it. - gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22I was thinking about this last night too: File Complaint > Under age...why don't they have it? I'm surprised they haven't gotten in trouble for not caring that 10 year olds are playing Gears of War, where the word ***** and ***** is used like its going out of style, and turning people into meaty chunks is fun.
@Netmindstorm: what? who does that? you can send message to people whenever. - MACady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I'm just happy to see a corporation ask the question, instead of telling us what we want.
- warchant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I definately agree that Bungie's matchmacking should be default across the board. You think people would learn!
Clan support is definately needed. - lukeamotion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14But seriously..
1. Multiperson chat (Video / Audio)
2. Support for Podcast / Video Cast and links to Microsofts URGE mp3 service.
3. Stream / Record Online TV in HD - I know they are doing this... good step. (Need bigger hard drive.)
4. Crossover gaming with the PC users!
5. Tie in with VOIP telephones. (Wouldn't it be awesome for those of us who use Digital Phones / VOIP. To plug it into our 360 and when we receive a phone call a little window pops up telling us Jimbo is calling!
6. More Ties with MSN Messenger. (Would love if we could send/receive messages from our MSN friends and talk to them via webcam.)
7. WWWeb Browser
8. Download FULL GAMES! Instead of going to gamestop to get the new Halo... just download it. We know you can do it... Again BIGGER HARD DRIVES!
9. More cooperation with Parker Brothers. Nothing like playing a muliplayer game of Hungry Hungry Hippos!
10.More Retro XBox / PC / Arcade / SNES games. Bring me some Techmo Super Bowl... The Sims... John Elway's QB... - Stratacaster, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Fix the DRM so that the content I downloaded with my first defective macine will work offline on my third, and hopefully last, machine.
- mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12That would be a blessing. Even if unenforcable - how many screaming Timmys would want to restrict their play to a bunch of us old dudes. I'd play more if we had this on XBL.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13How about
(1) Email access
(2) Web Access
(3) Live Conference video chat
(4) Online Storage (to back up your HDD or to save the HDTV / HD Movies)
(5) Tiering the service access by age (Giving you the option to game any where as an adult - yet for kids under certain ages would need permission by parents other wise they are gaming at the kid table.)
(6) Original xbox games playable (put in the original xbox disc you want to play and then it connect to live for emulation time)
(7) Allow the gamers to make some money with Micro transactions (via an area that offers the user to wager / test their gaming skills with a wager).
(8) Peek-a-view - when you have a friend playing a game you can go and spectate
(9) DirectTV blade.
Oh and I almost forgot..
(10) Happy Endings All Around. - munkyxtc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I'm always bother Major Nelson with my suggestions; but here are my top requests:
1) Multiple person chat [only when not in an online game] -- I don't want bandwidth being sucked up to cover chats for people not logged in and actively playing an online game [similar to how downloads now work]
2) A news blade; feed it with RSS feeds on gaming news. Strike up a partnership with some of the biggest gaming sites out there and have this information automatically pumped to your 360 so you don't have to check multiple websites daily.
3) Add a community calendar of events; XBOX.com currently has one, but it doesn't seem like it's kept up to date and the information provided for each event is sketchy -- additionally add reminders so I can remember they are having tournament X on day Y and my xbox can remind me.
4) Expanded friends list with grouping. Right now the list is limited to 100 people. If you play alot it doesn't take long for that list to fill up. Additionally I might only play 1 game with a person which is where grouping comes into. I could have name a level as Often Played; and put everyone I play multiple games with under this grouping. Then create GoW category for only those people I play GoW with etc.
5) Xbox Live Gold for the family -- It seems silly to me that a family of 4 needs to shell out $200 so everyone can have their seperate gamertags and have the ability to play online. Make it so there is some sort of lookup feature where you set a primary account and then set children objects that can be played as Gold; but if and only if no other account tied to this Primary account is signed in. That would prevent copying of profiles to a 2nd xbox to circumvent the rule.
6) Show the name of a DVD I'm watching when someone views my profile rather than just saying "watching a movie"
7) Drop TruSkill -- adopt a Halo2 like MatchMaking system.
8) User created content. Let us create our own themes etc and distribute them. Create an xbox live community where they need to be approved before added to marketplace to prevent abuse.
Ok, that's enough for now. - isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9although it probably cant and won't happen. It would be cool to gamble your microsoft point through poker tournaments.
- BuddyDoQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9http://ozymandias.com/archive/2007/01/16/Your-Thoughts-on-the-Future-of-Live_3F00_.aspx
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+91. Gold membership should give you access to everything Xbox Live has to offer without charge.
2. Every game should adopt at least a modified version of Bungie's matchmaking system. - mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+101. You can voice chat with up to 4 people.
I agree on all your other points. - isthisnametaken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I remember back when I played WoW people were always asking for "over 30" or "over 25" servers. But, honestly, there is no way to verify this.
- secretrk1313, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7defiantly a GROUP PRIVATE CHAT!!! i hate trying to get 4 of us to join a game, im switching channels like crazy!!
- DanLikesBeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Agreed on that. And I DON'T mind paying for it. The subscription isn't that expensive for what you get out of it.
- infernoskull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wanna be able to play mini games while im in the game lobby and im dead, waiting for other people to get finished playing, it sucks waiting there for people for 20+ minutes
Maybe introduce a small video screen in the corner of my tv (kinda like picture in picture) and let me play my xbox live arcade games while i wait, theres nothing like a little pong to help the round end quicker.
A benefit to the picture in picture is that i can still keep an eye on the action going on and be aware of when its time to start playing when people are done the round. - mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@Bara
Yeah it is pretty clunky at the moment. A "chat room" would be an awesome addtion. If you can do it within a game lobby why isn't it available in the guide? Seems like a feature they could roll out. - Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6the one and only thing I want Microsoft to change is the way the achievements are put on your gamertag. Make it so those damn trials of game from the XBLA don't make it on my gamer card unless they are bought. I'm tired of seeing how there are 23 games on my card, only 2 of which I had paid for, so please Microsoft, fix this!
- drewd53, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7in order to get rid of those annoying little brats that seem to be everywhere on gears of war and other games is set up a system that allows you to chose the ages of gamers that you want to play with..for example..i would chose to play with no one under the age of 18
- 2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"4. Crossover gaming with the PC users!"
I thought they actually showed this off at CES. They demoed a PC gamer playing against an Xbox 360 gamer through Xbox Live. True, the game was only "Uno", but it may be the start of a heterogeneous Xbox Live experience. - BuddyDoQ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6All videos, shows, and movies need to have an HD version. All of them. I mean, makes you wonder the point of having a HD console on a HDTV and only a handful of your movie on demand content is offered in HD.
Maybe it's just me, but I also find the interface a hassle in general. Everything is just a big list and takes forever to scroll around finding stuff. Speaking of finding stuff, is there a way to mute the voice chat across the platform? I find it very annoying and doesn't make for pleasant use of my stereo. God forbid I be forced to watch video chat as well. *shudders*
Otherwise, it's pretty neat as is. I don't use it everyday, but once a week or so I'll get in on a round GoW or DoA4 and get my ass kicked around. Good times. - unixer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6There are already ads in silver and gold.
- unununium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Call them and they will refund your points.
- beckerist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5GeneralFault: Check out "XNA Express" (google it), you might find what you're looking for!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Remember Online Gambling is illegal.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I think this is a good point. For most games Xbox Live basically makes you pay money to host the game servers.
This causes more problems then just the unfair advantage of being the host. It also limits the max number of players a game can have. Most games can't persist if the host leaves. There's no sense of server community.
There's really almost no service at all. You're paying for ads, the ability to download promotions, and an instant messenger. (Admittedly, I do pay for it as it is worth it..) - Perno, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@avihappy
Online gambling is not illegal...cashing a check from winnings of online gambling is illegal. I know you were kind of joking with them... but this is something that not a lot of people know. - amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'd also like to see a ton more movie trailers (is streaming an option?) It's a fun feature if people are over.. but annoying they only have 1 old trailer of certain movies, or no trailers for many others
- drmobutu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7...and hookers!
- Fenster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How about choosing a networked PC as storage device. I can stream from my PC, but I can't save to it? I realize they would have to limit copying those items, but surely they could come up with something to prevent that.
And maybe some "free" way to earn MS Points. They could probably sell more if they gave some away for free to get you hooked. I have heard of that business model somewhere? - rstarr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5^You got it man.
#1 seems like they should have had that aaaages ago.
#4 seems like it just makes sense.
Just add a web browser, more vision cam support in game and thats everything i could ask for. - Bara, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@mavranos, yes, you can, but not at the same time, which is what my suggestion is. Guess I should have made that more clear.
- mavranos, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I think they should charge more. Make people think twice about getting banned and weed out the riff-raff.
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The News blade is a GREAT idea.
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There are a few more factors involved, I feel, and I think that you're getting a little off-topic.
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3then raise the monthly fee a little, but I don't like the idea of payment annually and on impulse, it should be one or the other.
First I pay for my DSL, then I pay for Xbox Live, and then they want me to pay for stuff they should ship with the game? No, that's not right. If they want to make an expansion pack then go right ahead, but I can't deal with number of payment tiers they have going right now. - mahmoodsdotjpg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5can't believe no one has posted about the host advantage in certain games. it's virtually impossible to combat a good host player in Gears Of War--you just can't do it, because they're playing on their own listen server. the host advantage isn't a huge deal in games that don't require crazy reaction time, but a game like Gears really, really needs to have its own dedicated servers or mandated client-side hit detection. it's probably easier to just mandate client-side hit detection across the board for shooters in the future, so that's what I'd recommend.
