- izzybr, on 10/10/2007, -34/+109The bad news for all you Wii Fanboys, of course, is that you're still Fanboys.
- tinselsnips, on 10/10/2007, -1/+74Remember people, this is VALVE we're talking about. If they want to release a game for the Wii by the end of it's lifespan, they needed to start work on it Gamecube's launch day.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+49Can't wait to have a few good non-party games for the wii!
- Rev0lver, on 10/10/2007, -8/+52Damn. Gabe not siding with your console is sort of like God saying you don't exist.
- Treshnell, on 10/10/2007, -3/+36...what?
- nicksawick1, on 10/10/2007, -24/+53Great news for all us WiiFanboys! When great developers like Gabe Newell start to move to the Wii, other will follow. Once developers start game projects, the innovation won't be far behind.
- soulpiercer7, on 10/10/2007, -11/+35Port half-life and half-life 2 to Wii
do it.
o and Metroid prime 3 Corruption is amazing. first person shooters on the Wii kick ass! second only to mouse + keyboard - BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -8/+31The first thing that popped into my head after reading the description was an image of some ancient Egyptian civilization painting hieroglyphs warning mankind to never allow a powerful wizard to gain possession of a magic wand, lest their union create something all of the world cannot stop.
- felman87, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Super Smash and No More Heroes are the additional two on my list. Why not include those?
- jasmus, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24Actually, you've said it more in your comment than the rest of the comments combined so far. Who's favorite word is it?
- Rodman930, on 10/10/2007, -0/+19That was the first thing that popped in your head?
There's no way you're not on drugs. - xerus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22I think the internet in general is a haven for wii lovers and ps3 haters.
- xerus, on 10/10/2007, -4/+22Damn, I guess I've been playing imaginary video games on my Wii for the past year then...
- everlast88, on 10/10/2007, -4/+21valve should just stick to PC, thats the best platform for them
- Zap2, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17Rumble and Motion Sensing are two different things, a controller can have both...like, say the uh...Wii Remote
- dvsbastard, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Buried for using the word "poser" in a video game discussion... Hell, buried just for using the word "poser"...
- plhearn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+12You should start blogging about what pops in your head.
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Your wrists hurt.. why are you people holding your arm out, pointing at the TV? Rest your arm/hand on your leg or something like the rest of us.
- Avor, on 10/10/2007, -5/+16And NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams
- FunkyPits, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Just played 3 hours before work and I think its better than OK I always hated using the dual analog sticks and shoot at the same time. The only thing I am complaining about so far is that to use missles kinda sucks. The Meta Ridley fight was pretty freaking awesome though.
- LordVance, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12And Guitar Hero III.
- xerus, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13And lets add Zack and Wiki and Manhunt 2.
- aweraw, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10http://digg.com/nintendo_wii/Super_Smash_Bros_Brawl_using_Havok_physics
- iofthestorm, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12And Mario Kart (sorry, couldn't resist helping the pyramid grow and take over this comment thread.)
- SSCrow, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11I'll believe him when he develops a kickass game for it.
Maybe something like Portal would be fun for the Wii. - Hickeroar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9If he said that about the PS3, he probably had a Dev kit in hand and had looking into it plenty.
John Carmack, one of the most respected programmers in the world, has MANY times spoken distastefully about the PS3 from a programming standpoint because of the retarded decision by sony to use the Cell processor.
These two aren't the only ones.
I'd tend to side with these guys over your uninformed opinion. - JasonCox, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10How Valve defines time:
http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_Time - bagboyrebel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9sources? I don't think I have heard any of these complaints. I have heard them, however, in reference to the PS3.
- Antyrael, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14> I think anyone who sticks to only one system will be pretty miserable
> lack enough great content to keep me busy all the time.
While I agree with your point about being a fanboy for the sake of being a fanboy, I think you need to get out and get some sun. Find things to do AWAY from the TV, you know, sports, events, theatre, stuff like that. If having only a single system keeps you "miserable" because you're not "busy all the time", you need a priority shift.
(... yay, first post is to complain. I can tell I'm going to be popular here.) - eecan, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13That was so random I had to digg it up.
- eecan, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13Idiot, you're on Digg. Pretty much everything you see here is the bandwagon considering that it's user selected content.
- BobbyMC, on 07/21/2008, -6/+13The Wii Remote opens up doors the competition would never take the time to deal with. The only problem with the Wii is the problem with most Nintendo products, one revolutionary idea surrounded by a bunch of arrogant, stubborn decisions.
- zonk3r, on 10/10/2007, -5/+12In other words: ***** developers are making money left and right on the Wii and we sat it out like dopes. Better get a move on.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Please tell me you didn't mean startup as in Nintendo.
- lonnieh, on 10/10/2007, -7/+14ok
- MiDri, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7You've got a talent there kid, and that talent is random ***** gold!
- R75700, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Don't forget Fire Emblem : Goddess of Dawn
November 5th - cjschmidt, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Despite what people may think, there is a lot of truth in what he says about limitations breeding creativity. Working with unlimited resources can lead to laziness and loss of focus. The Wii forces the really talented people to focus on art direction over polygons and gameplay over bells and whistles )it also leads to crappy looking games from everybody else). Of course the really awesome developers can fit in the gameplay, art, bells, and whistles, but I think the different approch the Wii takes will be nothing but good for the idustry.
- opnickc, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7All I've heard is how easy the Wii is to develop for (apparently developing something GOOD requires some extra skill. . . ). The Spore developer is the only one I know of who said the Wii sucks, and he said the same thing about the 360 (albiet different reasons).
So, one developer saying a bad thing means all developers think the system sucks, while one developer praising the system means nothing? Who's intellectually challenged now? - jasmus, on 10/10/2007, -9/+15Good point, they saw a growing market and decided to hook into it. Bad point, rant about graphics that was neither funny or on point.
- joegibes, on 10/10/2007, -12/+18Valve had better start making awesome games for Wii. All I've got to look forward to now is renting MP3:C (probably tomorrow) and Super Mario Galaxy (don't even know when).
- whiteguysamurai, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7the xbox had a GPU capable of directx 8.1, and that was what half life was built on.
from what i can see, the Wii gpu is not shader capable
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hollywood_(graphics_chip). - alexkorova, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6"the Wii needs a new controller; one that lets you move with one 'thumbstick' and look around with another. the fine aiming would be done with the pointer hardware."
I've tried Metroid Prime: Corruption, and your supposed controller sounds a lot worse than the controls in MP:C. The controls in MP:C are leagues better than any dual-analog setup. - Splitt3rxx, on 10/10/2007, -6/+11that's ***** awesome, if source can run on the wii there could be many possibilities.
- Hickeroar, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Half-Life MADE Valve. It's all they've ever really released (aside from helping out or hiring mod teams to make a few other things).
To tell them to drop HL would be like telling them to stop selling games. - Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9I'm pretty sure the Wii could handle Half-Life 2...If the Xbox could handle a port (albeit crappy, but still a port) then the Wii should have no problem.
- iLEZ, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Shoot.
You should probably point that out to Will Wright, Gabe Newell and Miyamoto. - phaseblue, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I've been playing Bioshock and Metroid Prime 3 back and forth the last couple days, and have been going back and forth just fine. I'm not saying it's as good as Bioshock, but I'm also not going to say the Wii's graphics are just outright bad.
- Shaflugi, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Just because the Wii's strong point isn't graphical horsepower doesn't mean it won't be able to handle a last-gen game..
- Krasha, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Yeah, Prime 3 is dope as hell, the controls take about a minute to get used to, and then are simply perfect. I'm still shocked how well it plays - FPS on Wii has a bright future!
