The story is entirely from his point of view. Other comments say things like "I don't understand why suddenly I'm safe at the bottom of the citadel" - well guess what, neither does Gordon. - Godlike, on 12/21/2007, -1/+13The cake is not actually a lie, the problem with the cake is that GlaDOS does not seem to fully comprehend that the death of the test subject in a fire and the eating of the cake afterwards are mutually exclusive. It seems such that, in the 'mind' of the A.I., if the future of the test subject as a living thing is planned, that this satisfies the 'moral' requirements that it would otherwise be in conflict with for its own designated process of destroying the test subject.

The Half-Life series biggest flaw (for me at least, cos I know a lot of people love the series because of this) is that we'd have to really work hard to get the story details. I mean, most of them are just there in front of us, but i think I've just been brought up spoon-fed.

I know there were multiple copies of them but they are pretty recognizable :)

From eps2 we learn that GMan told Eli to "prepare for unforeseen consequences" before the experiment began.

Gravity Gun wins hands down. All Gordon would have to do is wait for Chel to attempt to enter a portal or be standing in front of one, and fire objects into the other end of the portal which pop out the other side and collide with Chel or prevent her from entering the portal.
Though on the other hand, all Chel has to do is open a portal on the wall of a pit and fire one at Gordon's feet... Guess it would depend on the battlefield. - Scrappy1850, on 12/21/2007, -0/+5me too!
