- Jo9100, on 06/10/2008, -0/+57Google Maps meets Grand Theft Auto, except without the Grand and the Theft.
- mebrad, on 06/10/2008, -2/+37Fantastically *****!
- luke16, on 06/10/2008, -0/+31currently driving on the river Thames...
- gametavern, on 06/10/2008, -0/+31I'd really like to see this done with STREET VIEW. Maybe another 10 years.
- Gromdul, on 06/10/2008, -0/+25What a horrible title. Google Maps meets Hot Wheels would be more accurate.
- TheDeepFriar, on 06/10/2008, -1/+23life is just an FPS with better graphics
- digitalsatori, on 06/10/2008, -0/+22Dude, you live life on the edge. :)
- fl00d, on 06/10/2008, -1/+23I just virtually commuted to work.
- ZephyrNinety, on 06/10/2008, -1/+21You know, GTA is based off of real life, not the other way around... I think
- Managua8Green, on 06/10/2008, -1/+16YEAH! i CAN DRIVE WHAT i CAN SEE, BUT A LOT SLOWER.
- nishay, on 06/10/2008, -3/+17kinda boring to play
- gemlarin, on 06/10/2008, -1/+14Collision detection would be nice, not to mention the steering is terrible. Nice start, long way to go.
- hadak, on 06/10/2008, -1/+14...javascript?
- dislexicllama, on 06/10/2008, -0/+12You fail at first. :)
- Slovenian6474, on 06/10/2008, -0/+11I bunnyhop to work.
- TopherT, on 06/10/2008, -7/+17I tried to play but firefox couldn't figure out what plugin i needed to install to play.
- hadak, on 06/10/2008, -0/+9Thank God you can't crash into anything.
- dislexicllama, on 06/10/2008, -0/+9Wicked concept, but they need more high-res metropolitan centers mapped out..
- Dayz, on 06/10/2008, -0/+9If you keep reversing it wont stop you at 120km/h
- Zippo, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8Good frame rate too. I can even walk through Time Square without any lag.
- gemlarin, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8it works in mine and i dont remember installing any plugins, odd.
- abferry, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8Finally I can hit taxis when driving through Manhattan.
- gunBritt, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8To bad the car got a turning radius of about mile and that it can drive over houses :).
- Unriggable, on 06/10/2008, -0/+8I vaguely remember reading an onion article about this.
- Kenzan, on 06/10/2008, -0/+7I just picked up that flasher girl and those two prostitutes.
- penguinofhonor, on 06/10/2008, -0/+7That's a bit too much realism.
- locke2002, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6Anyone up for an MMO combat flight sim based on google earth? I'd love to fly around over my city dogfighting other people...
- macaddct1984, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6What? How is that at all relevant to this article?
- gigitrix, on 06/10/2008, -0/+6BOOM, HEADSHOT!
- ubiquityxx, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5Actually quite fun until you realize there's no collision detection. I had a good time driving in the Sea of Japan - even caught some fish.
- Pixelante, on 06/10/2008, -0/+5I had a car like that once.
- RoccoMcTaco, on 06/10/2008, -1/+5I give it a year!
- penguinofhonor, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4I'm glad there's no collision detection: that means there's nothing to stop you from jumping on the railroad tracks and following them for five minutes. That was the second best moment of the entire day.
The best was finding out that if you hit 500 mph, you enter warp speed and randomly teleport. - alerx, on 06/10/2008, -0/+4Imagine if every town with a university got their software development departments to make 3d models of the local cities, have them connect on a server and then allowed people to play on them GTA style. If it was all open source people could add their own details like the interiors of houses and stores. I smell the greatest game ever.
- Shootfast, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3I use the knife. It makes me run faster.
- LloydBentsen, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3same here.
- int10h, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Reminds me of big rigs, that game was about as good as this one.
If you missed it somehow, here's a video of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mB1zWEhgrLs - antdude, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3And hookers.
- digitaldivinci, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3I tried driving back to school. I STILL miss my exit..
- doublebummer, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3My first thought was "wow, this looks kinda of cool", then I pressed the accelerator and drove over a skyscraper.
- elshizzo, on 06/11/2008, -0/+3Awesome concept but lacking in quality. The controls are abysmal, turning is ridiculous. What they should do is fix the turning, add some collision detection [it'd be easy to program, anything thats not road is wall], and maybe add some cops to chase you or something. It could be pretty sweet
- karan1003, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3all the headaches, none of the actual going from place A to B!
- Markpdotcom, on 06/10/2008, -0/+3Yeah, no collision detection... buried! ;)
- JoshChris, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Well, if everyone enters their building(s), it wouldn't take long at all.
- biohzrd, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2And if you choose the semi-truck, after letting it go past jack-knife (the cab will be pointing the opposite way it normally does) you can steer a lot better at the high speeds. I stopped at 500. Google maps couldn't keep up!
- Sonof8Bits, on 06/11/2008, -0/+2Rocket jumping gets me at college really fast
- Tishiablo, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Ya but can it play Crysis?
- afruff23, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2You don't need that. I'm on Firefox 3 and have no plugins and it worked fine for me.
- yaosio, on 06/10/2008, -0/+2Oh cool, somebody took a map and put a car on top of it. This has never been done before. Also it's just like the original GTA where you were unable to get out of the car and there was no AI, just a giant image.
