Let's pretend you're playing Final Fantasy VI for a moment. You've got a Mithril Sword, or a MithrilBlade if you're playing the SNES version with the Engrish. It cost you 450 Gil when you bought it in South Figaro. You've now found a better sword, at a new vendor or in a dungeon, and you want to sell your old sword. Know how much the shopkeeper is going to give you? 225 Gil. Half. But it's not fair! I barely used it! It's still a good sword! The shopkeep is just going to sell it for 450 again! Yeah. He is. Same deal in Neverwinter. In Oblivion. In Fallout. In every game with a Buy/Sell system that has ever been made, ever.
Why then is it so hard to grasp the concept at GameStop, a store which you think would be dealing with gamers well versed in this economic dynamic. But he's going to buy my copy of GTA IV for $20 and turn around and sell it for $40! Half! He's ripping me off! If you're that worked up over it, then you find somebody and you sell it yourself. By selling it to GameStop you're accepting the fact that you suck at business, so they take it off your hands, you get some cash/store credit, and the world keeps spinning. - morphinapg, on 09/08/2008, -12/+627HOLY ***** SLOW DOWN
