- MeThePeople, on 10/12/2007, -6/+92they better put staten island in, and i better be able to go to my house and shoot myself
- hokiewalrus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+69Luckily it looks like I can get far enough into Jersey to go to my apartment.
Cause that's what I've always wanted, a game that simulates how exciting it is to drive home. - fivestarsoul, on 10/12/2007, -4/+71why wait for the game? zinggg!
- Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+41Inaccurate. GTA:SA "mapped" Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas, but it sure wasn't 1:1.
- abid786, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34For the JFK airport, it says (on the Google Map page) "...Is this is furthest West the game will go?"
Don't they mean EAST? - FRANKeB, on 10/12/2007, -1/+32Imagine they release a toolkit where you can drag and drop different building types that you can make or are predefined and then create your own hood. Then everyone can link these hoods online and make some crazy continent-wide online community. GTA Live. Ok back to work...
- develdevil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29I'm actually looking forward to running over my landlord as he walks on the street.
- polistud, on 10/12/2007, -2/+30Nope, the GTA franchise is no longer exclusive. It'll be coming out on the 360 at the same time.
- Antialias, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Exactly. It might have general areas from the real NYC, but it sure as hell won't have thousands of little neighborhood streets with nothing of consequence on them.
- str3ama, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29wtf are you talking about? NSFW...you're looking at the wrong topic or something because all this links to is a gamesradar page that links to a google map
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Uhm, that's cool, but it doesn't prove a single thing. The GTA games have always been a bunch of somewhat-recognizable landmarks squished together into a smaller space then they take up in the real world.
- lcmatt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Evil comment abuse I know but heres the direct link to Google Maps:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?client=firefox-a&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF-8&channel=s&q=&hl=en&z=11&t=k&om=0&msid=116339968853131059653.00000112044897dc3d997&msa=0 - tuxidomasx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15i hope its huge
i hope its so big it'll take a half hour to drive from one end to the other - brklynmark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17I'd just like to thank whoever took the time to draw a circle on a map around the city and part of jersey. This was really helpful.
/sarcasm - daofma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14To me it's obvious why there wouldn't be airplanes. What's the point of flying around in a city where the only place you can land again is the airport you took off at? Helicopter makes sense to have, airplane does not.
- theotherme, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Next game should be GTA: Earth
- ntwrkguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13true crime had an exact map of manhattan laid out. and being born raised, and continuing to live in manhattan, i was able to navigate the map without a hitch since every street was laid out as it should have been. hoping for something like this...
- Peynis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14that idea sucks...most gamers aren't game designers for a good reason
- martin993, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13New York is big? Wow.
- str3ama, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15notice the words "possibly" ..they're using info from the trailer and the game informer article which talks about the districts (look at the side panel which has info on each area).
That area looks big enough to fly around even with a helicopter..so I don't know why they said flying would be pointless..it's still a big area. - str3ama, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10@dpack1
I don't know..gta has always been about the controversy, but removing planes all together from GTA just to avoid censors or critics is kinda of stupid because we know that regardless of whether they have planes or not, someone's going to criticize the game and some country (*cough*Australia) is going to ban it. It seems more probable that they didn't think they could create realistic plane models in time for shipping the game by September/October. I think they're too caught up in making it realistic that they've forgotten about the whole spirit of the game - which is to be an expansive as possible while still allowing the player to choose what vehicle or mode of transport they wish to perform each mission.
I mean we gave them a lot of slack in the graphics department for the fact that they were able to put a whole lot of new things in to the game, and they could continue to flog that renderware engine so long as they keep adding more features to it as they have done in the past. But with the new engine, a lot of what makes GTA GTA is gone - flying was pretty crucial, but also things like knowing that each increasing game gets bigger and bigger in scope. - daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It's not huge,
but it will take you a half hour to drive from end to end due to all the taxi cabs. - Peynis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9PS3 + Modchip + Blu-Ray Burner + Blu-Ray Recordable = bankruptcy
I'm not sure, but won't it come for the 360 even earlier than for the PS3? - Dpack1, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11@str3ama
As unlike Rockstar as it may be but i think they removed flying from NYC just to avoid being slammed about 9/11... Not that i think thats right, the flying in SA was awesome and should definitely been included but Rockstar get enough bad publicity as it is and they probably dont want Jack Thompson blaming 9/11 type events on thier video games. - tydev417, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7You should be able to ride the Staten Island Ferry..run up to the 4th floor deck and knock all the tourists into the water.
It sucks that Staten Island isn't included as I live there too but let's be honest...there's nothing here. - exick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6As far as I know, Rockstar has never said there won't be any flying in GTA IV. They've said no airplanes and no jetpacks. Why assume there won't be helicopters?
- fashiontrot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6A huge chunk of Brooklyn is mapped as Queens. Offended.
Also, this is retarded. - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6If it is I hope they add the ability to restart failed missions without driving back from the hospital or save point. There were a few annoying missions in GTA:SA where I had to repeatedly make a boring 10+ minute drive to retry a mission.
- Plopfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"We haven't even taken into account that the trailer shows a ferry terminal that might be a link to Staten Island. "
Anyone else think the ferry terminal is the old Hoboken Ferry Terminal?

In GTA San Andreas you could jump from the plane at any location with a parachute. It was actually one of the coolest new features. - Flashman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4konspence: You're neglecting such obvious verbs as '***** blocked', 'power drilled', 'band sawed' and probably hundreds more.
- Dpack1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5a far more sinister reason for the exclusion of planes could be the dreaded micro transaction... they're gonna get us to pay £/$0.99 for every different plane model we're going to want to fly!
Lets hope they dont sell out that way! - trylleklovn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"that idea sucks...most gamers aren't game designers for a good reason"
Excatly. Just look at SecondLife. It's the myspace of MMO's. - BillyWitchDoctr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Imagine if each GTA after this one was a full scale replica of other major cities around the world? freakin sweet

THATS nyc - EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Liberty City map from the original Grand Theft Auto for reference:
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=271661
Obviously Liberty City can be done with as much or as little detail as Rockstar wishes, so the physical size of the area tells us almost nothing. - LifeIsARhythm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3they are leaving the bronx zoo and van courtland park out. they could make this much bigger.
- noctum17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Anybody who thinks this is "proof" is an idiot. It's a map of America with boundary lines drawn on it. Great job.
- JudgeMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yea, but if you... tilt your head and kinda s q u i n t.... totally looks like a boob. He he.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The...Statue... of Happiness?..
- RenZ87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Why did they circle Harlem as part of the Bronx?
- Hitman101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm inclined to that that this map isn't very accurate all they did was look at the trailer and judge from that plus the info we know. I think the GTA devs will indeed include all of the Bronx or atleast all of it up untill the Bronx Zoo.
- BirdCatcher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This doesn't prove anything
- rdoger6424, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ethergnat
Hydra cheat/ - stappawho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes, smaller geographically. But this will be all city, none of the mountain, fields etc... that SA had.
- rspeed, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Apparently the definition of "proof" changed. Just because it incorporates those locations doesn't mean they filled in everything in between based on the real world. This is utter *****. Reporting inaccurate and recommending ShawnCGeorge be burned alive.
- hadimirza, on 03/26/2008, -1/+2yeah I would totally digg the idea of a FULL scaled city, with like everything exactly the same as in real life. Now THAT would be a real killer.
- konspence, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As for "mapped", I had no idea the Google Maps became likely one of the first two word verbs.
- hadimirza, on 03/26/2008, -2/+3Today, we unveil.......GTA: Mars!
- CyberSol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow looks like a Test drive unlimited knockoff
