http://www.xbox.com/en-US/promotions/livegoldweekend/default.htm - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Weee just US great for us Canadians.....*roll-eyes*
- distortedlojik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I already have gold so it doesn't really apply to me. But definite digg for MS' initiative to allow those w/o it to give it a shot.
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Actually, if you have Live Silver, you get the updates too.
- j0keR, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4April fools weekend, eh?
- LaPistola, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4No they Don't.. They have silver... But I don't know how you could have a 360 and not get a gold account. LIVE Rules!!!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4and now for a hack to get free permanent gold access..
- meatypuffs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This will be nice for my cheap ass friend who always gets on his roommate's account to play with me or just plays as a guest. He's got a headset he uses for his cell phone that will work with the controller, so now it'll be nice to be able to play ranked games with him and his roommate playing at the same time.
This is a nice start, but it would be nice to see every Sunday or some day of the week get free live play just to get more people playing on Xbox Live. - ericab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3ahhh MS is load/stress testing. i hope they have their servers ready because i absolutely HATE when my games get all laggy on Halo.
- green1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1woot! Eventhough I have live, my buddy will make good use :)
- aresef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is a cool move. While you may think us Gold members don't have to care (save for the 72 hour influx of idiots), all they had to mention was "Million Point Giveaway" to make me a happy man.
- hellb0y, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any ideas how those Microsoft points can be won??
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There has been ads up on the 360 Dashboard so it's real.
- thescotty, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1Follow this link-
http://www.gaminglagoon.com/?ref=233458
just fill out some forms and they email you a 1600 point card! - dylanA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the servers are going to crash so fast, it seems like the can barley handle the load now. So i will be forced to play WoW instead of Live
- kramer3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1this is a great marketing technique. xbox live can be fun as hell and people will realize this.
- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As opposed to sitting on their fatasses in front of flickering LCD laptop screens in Starbucks wasting time on Digg?
- mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes. It's so horrible when companies let you try their product for free so that you find out that you like it. How dare they permit people to sample before buying.
We should return to the old days, before 30 second samples for CD's (when you'd shell out $15 for a crappy CD).
Allowing free trials is a terrible idea because it helps the consumer decide. How about a little less paternalism, Orniter. We're adults. - mcbesq, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mmm. Barley.
- adidas1224, on 06/15/2009, -0/+0Free Codes!!!

Follow the link and your be pleased
http://freemicrosoftpo1nts.weebly.com/ - dielawn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3its obviously a trap, they'll make you update, its the updates you dont want
- overaction, on 07/14/2009, -3/+3Official press release:
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/060310/sff011.html?.v=49 - kewldude606, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Considering there is no Xbox Live Gold for Xbox, just Xbox Live, I would say no...
- mikebot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Saying that "everyone gets gold access" when the article clearly states USA only shows you're trying to win diggs. Reported as inaccurate. Specify USA only in future.
- foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1then, microsoft came out and said, "APRIL FOOLS! HA HA! SUCKAS," and all the kids cried.
- kramer3d, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1sony's online multiplayer version has been anounced to be similar to that of the xbox
- gk128, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Yay games filled with opponets without headsets to call me words I am unable to repeat here... sounds good.
- kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4ya gave enough of a ***** about it post here, didn't ya?
- Med_Dude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1lol - read the post times.
- kewldude606, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Sponsered by Verizon?!
Verizon was sponsering Slashdot subscriptions for the past 2 or so days on Slashdot. You had to watch a 15 second ad and then you got ad free viewing for the day and you could see the next story early, as if you were a subscriber. - diafel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1When the 360 was announced there was speculation that every weekend would be free. This is too little, too late.
- warmcat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yay! Let's all celebrate how our children can become addicted to a Large American Corporation's gaming drugs. I mean its the best we can hope for, for us and our children, to sit in front of a flickering TV while paying large amounts of money to a convicted monopolist for the privilege. Yay!! Thanks for this opportunity!!!
- Reebok, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Oh boy! Now all I need is an Xbox.....
- odin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1hold on - people pay M$ and they dont even get dedicated servers? that ***** must lag like *****
- mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1As cool as it would be... I doubt anyone would try for it. They don't use the $ in place of the S in MS for nothing.
- orniter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2It's "free" but MS isn't giving this away out of the goodness of "its heart" (not that corporations have hearts or brains or anything else - they're just a conceptual framework). Statistically it isn't free because this sample, much like hand outs at grocery stores, is being given away with the hope that more people will subscribe after they have a taste. Tobacco companies used to give out free cigarettes to work the same principle. Essentially, it's the dealer investing in the consumer and the fun part is that the consumer thinks they're getting a great deal :-) Not saying Live is wrong or anything, aside from the idea that video games contribute little to nothing to culture, intellectual understanding, aiding poverty or hunger, etc.
- Bakuryu, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Is this just for Xbox 360? or do Xbox's apply? would Microsoft be so kind as to let someone who hasn't bought there over priced hardware a chance to experiance Xbox Live?
- gODfall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Damn i hope i get a refund... of 72 hours
.no0bs :) - funkyp56, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2DEFF SERVER OVERLOAD, AND IM FIRST IN LINE!
- reaver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Anyone with broadband and a 360 already has gold anyway. Good move by MS anyway.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1OH BOY YOU MEAN I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THE INTERNET 2X Some weekend? WOWIE Thanks Microsoft for offering such a wonderful service that runs over the ORDINARY INTERNET, and billing me for it!!
- fredinator, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1wtf i hate xbox and MS 4 xbox live... you have to pay on top of your normal internet for a service that is offered on PCs for free on most games beside MMORPGs (like WoW)
- quamb, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1why is nintendo offering a free online plan and microsoft don't? am betting sony's will be free too.
- isoprophlex, on 10/12/2007, -16/+4ugg, i dont give a *****.
- foxtwo, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1Well this will kind of suck for everyone else who had to pay for the service. Is MS ready to deal with the sudden load on their servers? Or the multitude of calls to their help lines in response people having trouble connecting. I'm guessing there will be a lot of lag during the free 72 hours.
- simpletech, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1***** Doop!

What is Digg?
