- Avrey_001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Fox news (Cable side, web news is all the same) is without question one of the better sources of current event information out there.
It’s more than a little disturbing that so many assumingly intelligent people on Digg are writing such ignorant statements about Fox when they admittedly don't even watch Fox or fail to state any logical reason for their proclamation of hatred for Fox.
I personally switched from CNN to MSNBC to Fox and have not regretted it a day. Fox has the best news coverage at the moment and provides plenty of points of view without the focus on the most negative aspects of a story or doom and gloom found on just about every other news site. (I don’t walk away hating the world as much when I watch Fox as I do when I watch CNN or CBS or listen to NPR dung)
Hate is for pansies. Let go of your ignorance and give Fox a try before you spill your misplaced venom. - CableCarrier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh no, Rupert Murdoch's gonna control the world.
- jmdajr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1is Fox evil?
- ncaa76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow!
That's was totally unexpected...and $800M?? - larrabee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love IGN. This pisses me off. Im even an insider. That is alot "800 Million" thats a nice chunk of change.
- Lumbeekid06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1here comes a monopoly
- tooasianguys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I stopped going to IGN when I realized that I can't jump between links without being bombarded with ads.
- Smarterdanu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Giant media corporations just seems like a bad idea....
oh well - CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't worry mushoo, O'Reilly hates you too!
- Dan005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For all of you bitching about IGN's ads. IGN insider. Its only 14$ a year, and well worth it.
- nathanchase, on 05/06/2009, -0/+1Old and busted: IGN
New hotness: http://www.gameamp.com - SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$800 million??? Oh my!! =)
I'm glad it's in good hands, at least. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"...PS: I cant believe IGN was worth 800 million dollars..."
WOW.. that's a lot. I don't beleive it either. - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Don't worry guys. The only thing you'll have to worry about is IGN running original, thought-provoking, fun content and then Fox withdrawing it before it finds its audience. Standard Fox Ops.
Also, Myspace is fun, bitches.¿ - ElGringo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why do so many people hate IGN. It's easy to say you hate the site, but I don't think I saw any reasons. Is it just cause those people are Gamespot fans and hate seeing IGN potentially making $800,000,000.00?
For all the people who hate IGN, please list your reasons. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gamespot doesn't show half the ads ign does and yet it opens everything on the site to their free members...700kbps streams all for free. IGN reviews are just a bunch of BS anyway, people who hate the game or the genre are given the job of reviewing it...i'm reminded of one of the need for speed reviews where the guy was like i don't like racing games, i haven't played many racing games...wtf is he comparing the game to? some randome fps that he plays? idiots i tell u...idiots.
- PhantomOSX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Most Inciteful: You can't spell "ignorant" without "IGN" - posted by PhantomOSX"
Mwhaha! - metroidchief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anyone else realize that this gives fox a part in the DS online architecture through now owning gamespy. It also puts them heavier into the game industry. Also, you cannot trust a review about a fox movie or game that is put up on one of those sites
- RiotActing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IGN blew before... now it blows even more!!!
- BlackCat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WTF! It's not worth $800 million! The force feed so many ***damn ads down your throat! Thank GODDESS for RSS!
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Finally...IGN's reviews will be "fair and balanced"!!!
no more fanboy *****! wooooo - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mmm, I can smell the growing evil... it's like fire and brimstone on a warm, summer's day.
- wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh crap. Gamespy has completely hit the skids since IGN bought them. Now it is REALLY gonna exude massive amounts of suckitude.
- Kramerica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NOOOOOOO WHY WOULD THEY SELL OUT TO A BIG COMPANY LIKE FOX. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY. THOSE BASTARDS!
- Flogin_Molly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this reminds me fox was gonna make a music television channel for neo Nazis or probably hypnotize you into a Nazi
anyways all just use gamespot or gamefaqs which I've all ways have used
their way too many ads on IGN - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Oh for Christ sakes people. There is nothing wrong with Fox."
What about the totalitarian-friendly satellite company Murdoch owns in China.... - CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Mushoo, only a lib couldn't see the "we hate you too" as tongue in cheek. Why don't you try watching FNC before you start spreading the liberal talking points. And yes, I do watch CNN. I've been watching CNN for the last two weeks because that's the only 24hr news source I have in my hotel.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"New hotness: http://www.gameamp.com"
I like how new hotness looks like ass and has hard to reach content.
YOU LOSE. - Urgo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0700 diggs, 108 comments.. and only two people realized that this wasn't official. Wow.
- MrPerrel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0800million no problem, the company i work for has advertised on ign and we spent over $25,000/month for a small mouseover popup to happen three times a week
- modeps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I stopped liking IGN when they gave Wreckless for Xbox 9.0
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0By the way, Fox isn't really all that conservative, when you compare it to mainstream conservatives. Its only more conservative compared to a large network like CBS or NBC. In fact, Rupert Murdoch was referred to by his classmates as "Red Ken" in college. Even kept a bust of Lenin in his room.
- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Wait, TechTV a live television channel is only worth $300 mil while IGN a gaming website is worth $800 mil? WTF?"
Ya'll realize that IGN entertainment encompasses a lot of stuff, right?
IGN.com, GameSpy, Rotten Tomatoes, FilePlanet, GameSpy Arcade, GameSpy Arena, Direct2Drive, TeamXbox, 3D Gamers, many of the *Planet sites..
Media metrix says they have 26 million unique visitors a month, and IGN claims around 250K paying subscribers.
That's fairly impressive. - TRUEPATRIOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0meh ign has way to many ads and theyre content is subpar
GO GAMESPOT!! - linuxbox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0News Corp. buys IGN* Facts are never as exciting as lies.
- Lyphen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good lord, some of you can't read. Reported for being misleading.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh come on Cowboy, I find it amazing that you have the gall to call me a kool-aid drinker and not see it as an insult. But when I switch one word because i think it sounds funny you immediately claim the libs are insulting me card. You seem to feel like you are part of Fox, since hold steady and me only insulted Fox and Bill O'Reilly, yet you took it personally. "And we all hate you too," Come on be honest, do you work for FOX?
For the record I don't hate you, I couldn't possibly do since I don't know who you are. If you want to hate people like hold steady and me for not having the same views as you, well be my guest. But I repeat, God I hate Bill O'Reilly and Fox news, and I'm an atheist. - CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And we all hate you too, hold_steady....tsk, tsk, tsk, you poor, poor liberals....hey socialism is still alive and sort of well in France and Germany! And don't forget Cuba!
- lenier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0And this post's comment awards go to:
Most Inciteful: You can't spell "ignorant" without "IGN" - posted by PhantomOSX
Most Accurate: technopops and Laurent.
But here's more: http://www.redherring.com/Article.aspx?a=13244&hed=Murdoch+Mulls+IGN+Game+Buy§or=Industries&subsector=EntertainmentAndMedia
via Waxy. - iFindout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IGN(and gamespy, and gamespot, among others) blows!. I've wrote off IGN and their affiliates about 5 years ago. They're a bunch of scumbags that cannot be trusted with their juvenile reviews. The FOX NEWS cult and king wacko O'reiley (*spit) at the helm cannot be trusted with their content either. FOX NEWS + IGN and affiliates = Worthless channel worthless sites.
- CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didn't say you insulte me mushoo. You threw out the insults with using "kook" instead of "kool." Typical libs. Still bitter they lost the election...next topic PLEASE!
- artemus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Good, now IGN will get a dose of its own medicine. Now IGN Cube will get an idea of just what its like to be screwed by the fans...
- SilentSpyder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0God damn it. Rupert is going to turn us all into squares.
- stickyboot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0- yarrrr -
Poor poor us. Luckly IGN SUCKED!!!! Almost as much as fox news - MaxPowers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0WHO CARES! One site is full of annoying ads, the other is full of annoying emo kids. Sounds like Murdoch is opening an online daycare center.
- MrZaiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Rupert Murdoch was a leftist in college???? hard to believe. but the transformation was done
- Hops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0- Sigh -
more fox - Web_Weasel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What a waste of money. Now we can expect "When Videogames Attack".
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Weird I don't remember ever insulting you. That is unless you work at FOX. As for the KOOK-aid, you're the one who brought it up.
- stranger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0kind of off subject here, but it has to do with ign. when they started the whole "insider" thing, I thought it was still a good site so I signed up. By the end of the first year of being an insider, IGN had gone down a big hill. I cancelled my subscription. They charged me for another year. I cancelled again, but didn't complain to them becuase the site was still kinda ok. The next year my credit card was charged again. By then the site was completely worthless. I cancelled AGAIN, and emailed them a letter telling them what had happened. I didn't get a response, so I emailed them again. I never got a response. Guess what? My account was charged again a few months back. I've told all my friends my account name and password hoping IGN would notice it's being used a lot and close it down, but that's not even working. Of course, the site sucks so bad I'm sure none of them visit it. Man, I hate IGN.
