- julian02392, on 02/03/2009, -2/+25I loved The Sims but it got so out of hand that I couldn't even keep up.
I wish they would bundle some of the expansions that seem obvious (seasons, business, vacation etc.) into the main game and just come up with ORIGINAL expansions. People will eventually get tired of paying 50$ for the same ***** if they haven't already. - Jak08, on 02/04/2009, -2/+24Uh huh, I'm sure it was your sister who was waiting anxiously ;)
- Kr1ngle0, on 02/04/2009, -1/+22I don't care if that made no sence, I am digging you up.
- Aethirig, on 02/04/2009, -0/+21maxmotives? that's no fun. I think my favorite Sims moment was when I had a guy trapped with only a phone. He would get hungry, order pizza, and then break down in tears when he couldn't get to the pizza delivery guy.
It's the simple things. - raydeen, on 02/04/2009, -1/+21You can make your sims play The Sims and watch them blow all their hard earned Simoleons on ***** expansions.
- Unreal893, on 02/04/2009, -0/+18They'd eventually run out of ideas for expansion packs and have to resort to:
The Sims 3: Sexually Transmitted Diseases
sorry. my mind gets weird at night. - Unreal893, on 02/04/2009, -0/+17yet, the sims will still place their dishes all over the floor...

sims 2 something something sims something 3 - Gizza, on 02/04/2009, -1/+15They've been doing it with sports games for over a decade and people are still buying those.
- Auzy, on 02/04/2009, -3/+16It seems anything that is made by Will Wright will be overhyped and go frontpage. Spore was meant to be new and innovative.. It was for a total of 1 hour, then it became repetitive and boring. All the hype generated by Will Wright was mostly crap (yes you could make monsters evolve and such, but it really meant nothing in the grand scheme of things). Sims3 will be exactly the same as the originals, with a few minor graphics improvements and a few new places for woohoo, Why does stuff like this go front page?
Seriously? Games like World of Goo come out which are totally new concepts and are enjoyed by everyone, but they never make it frontpage (unless they are mentioned by other articles). Yet crap like Sims 3 goes frontpage simply because Will Wright is obviously brown-nosing the heads of EA into believing that it will entertain people for longer then an hour.
Dugg down, and I HOPE that others do the same. In fact, knowing EA, it wont even be a major improvement (like Fifa 08 was simply fifa 98 with updated players. In the last 10 years, nothing was really improved, including the graphics much).
Doom 3 newsworthy, Mirrors edge newsworthy, even Flight Simulator X was newsworthy. But Sims 3 wont add anything new to the table except minor graphics improvements. Maybe if the perverts are lucky they will make it easier to apply a nude patch. - TheCash, on 02/04/2009, -4/+17I loved the original, but Sims 2 was a piece of *****. Sure it looked pretty, but having to do retarded stuff like jump on the couch or whatever just to keep my sim happy was annoying. Hell. it was hard enough just taking care of their needs (i.e. making sure they took time out from dancing etc to go to the bathroom, just so they wouldn't piss themselves on the dance floor, although that never got old really) let alone having to manage their damn infantile wants. My ex's best friend is a programmer at Maxis, and when he asked me what I thought about number 2, I brought that up. Apparently, that was the biggest complaint from the fan base, and not just mine. Will be interesting to see if they designers do anything about that though.
- raydeen, on 02/04/2009, -0/+12Makes more sense than some of the things that get posted here. Dugg.
- FrederikNS, on 02/04/2009, -0/+11As a matter of fact no... they will just re-issue the old ones with a new name, updated for the newest version of the game, and people will still buy it
- rob2oo4, on 02/04/2009, -0/+10They have implemented a revolutionary Sim "layoff" system due to the value of the Simolean falling, taking players by surprise when reaching the pinnacle of career success.
- Remelox, on 02/04/2009, -0/+8Spore is not the game Will Wright wanted to make so don't blame him. In Spore, there is no evolution, there is only intelligent design. Will Wright wanted evolution and numerous meetings dumbed down the game to what we got. As many people have pointed out, the prototypes are often more fun than Spore itself.
Sims 3 is not exactly like the originals. If you read up on it, they really tried to add a lot to it without throwing away what people like about 2. It's not a revolutionary step, it's evolutionary. It's a sequel and that is how it should be.
Will they try to make a ton of money on expansions? Sure, why not? Why is everyone acting like this is such an evil thing? I enjoyed the expansions. While I will agree they are overpriced, they weren't bad. The add-on packs should have gone for single digit dollars with the expansions under $20. Both should be discounted if you download directly.
My main complaint about 3 is that, while there is obviously an easier way to make sims, houses, and furniture with different textures, I've seen no indication that the will allow you to easily make new content. If they were smart, they would only make expansions that offered rule changes and leave the add-ons to the community by providing an object editor. Who cares if someone makes an object that raises all your stats when you walk by it? If I want to cheat in your game, let me.
Oh, and they should get rid of the forced pixelation. While I never was one to download thoe awful nude skins, some people like that and they should be allowed. I'm perfectly fine with have my smooth Barbie doll look to my characters when they shower. The pixelation just looks stupid. - inactive, on 02/04/2009, -1/+9Sim me once shame on you. Sim me twice shame on me. Sim me a third time.... i will sleep with your dog.

- falafelkiosken, on 02/04/2009, -0/+8motherlode
- joshuaer, on 02/04/2009, -0/+8In related news: kids every place will stop taking out the trash, bathing and doing odd jobs since they are to busy doing it in the sims. On a side note EA will release a homework expansion pack so you can skip out on your home work and to sims homework!
- QueensGangsta, on 02/04/2009, -0/+8If all jokes weren't so obvious....
Its a sims cheat code for money...
Therefore, he asks why isint EA bankrupt.
*FacePalm* - Remelox, on 02/04/2009, -0/+8In many ways it plays like 2 and that's good. The models have more detail, there are more personality options, and you no longer have the small zone restrictions on every building. You can walk or drive around the entire neighborhood including go to work. You can also search around and college things like fish or rocks that have rare items that can be turned into something for your character to use.
My problem isn't the new version but that I have to bet that some of the functionality of the previous one will be lost. While there are pets in the new on, I have yet to see any dogs or cats so I'm thinking that is out. No indication that you can go to college. Not sure if you can run a business or date or garden to the same level as before but there is some indication that elements of each are in the game.
I'd like to be able to ditch the old version when the new one comes out. At least it doesn't look like they completely ruined it like they did with Sim City. - SreyaNotfilc, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7I think nesterenko is stating that Sims 2 is Sims 3 and Sims 3 is Sims 2. They are one and the same. The real difference between those two is that with S3 you get S2 plus the features from S2's expansion packs.
The arguement is that with the Sims series the game is originally released and then for the next 5 or so years you get a ton of expansion packs. I guess nesterenko is upset with this since the game will end up being +$400 (if you've bought most of the expansion packs that they flood the stores with) and then suddenly find that an official serial update to the same game is released but for the $50 price tag. Now each incarnation of the game does add new "rules" to the mix to change it up a bit, but essentially it's the same thing.
This is how a lot of game companies make their money, but it seems that the Sims series stay relatively static as far as innovation goes (not saying that it's good or bad, but it's noticeable). - Crimsoneer, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7Yeah, what he said.
- keozen, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7And every single one of them will be some mix of:
- Opening up a new area (Ctrl+c Ctrl+v on the main game area, add different art library & Ta-Da!)
- adding a new model for the player character, be it a new life stage for the human characters or something like pets (which are just re-modelled sims with different drives/needs and/or less direct control, let's face it)
- Adding new items/clothes (now usually branded to get the sponsorship money in)
Basically what any modder could do in a few weekends of work with a half decent sdk. But, you know, making EA millions. - viv4l4b4m03, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7I can't wait till they put all of the Sims 2 into one package. Then it'll be easier to download and install, unlike now where you need like 13 games. >:C
- adderx99, on 02/04/2009, -0/+7damnit, i still havent beaten sims 2 yet though...
- Gizza, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6Umm actually, people who buy the game have been having more problems with SecuROM than the people who pirate it.
- jcannonb, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6Well, I have yet to give a ***** on February 4, but odds are I probably will before the day is out. I plan on eating poorly today though, so I may be too stopped up to give a ***** on February 5. Wish me luck, OK?
- ZeroDarkness, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6I wouldn't know about the needs... I think I tried playing honestly once before I gave up and

My sister is still really into it, but keeps complaining about the loading times with all the expansion packs. That seems to be the newest major complaint, it takes forever to load 17 or 18 damn games in one. - croxis, on 02/04/2009, -0/+6Will didn't work on Sims3
- wonkavsn, on 02/04/2009, -1/+6You can view the lives of Sims in real time as they move about the world.
- Remelox, on 02/04/2009, -0/+5Admit it, you were going to sleep with the dog anyway.
- Pssdoff, on 02/04/2009, -2/+7Now you have absolute control over your sim. You must continuously press the letter B to keep his heart beating while controlling his breathing and blinking with the arrow keys...
Taking a ***** is now a mini game where you fly your poo through the intestines and out the sphincter. - DuMbGuM, on 02/04/2009, -0/+5A 4 month delay? Nice move..

- 1807, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4Tell that to the people who make those expansions for Guitar Hero. Obviously people don't get tired of buying the same crap over and over.
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 02/04/2009, -0/+4I'm betting that it will be on PirateBay by June 1.
- amitait, on 02/04/2009, -2/+6EA is the Britney Spears of game world.
