you are the biggest Sony (buzz word alert) fanboy in all of digg, I've been to your profile for and all you do is digg Sony stories, I am a Nintendo fan and digg a lot of Wii stories, but do you even look at other parts of digg? I must compliment your consistency. You even claimed that Sears had a big stack of Wii's on their website and that people really just didn't want the Wii about 3 times in the same thread. Turns out they were sold out. Now to respond to your stupid accusation:
You mean this Joke of a wii list for 2007 (this is MY Opinion)

Yeah look at all those Wii's sitting on store shelves. So many in fact that they have only sold 4.5 MILLION units in 3 months. I bet Nintendo wishes they could catch up to Sony's 1.4 MILLION units. Too bad the Wii is such a failure.....
...dumbass - negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10mines on my business card
- bromanct, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9As long as Tiger Woods Wii is decent I'll be satisfied. To tell you the truth, I still play Wii Sports every day.

"Yes, maybe they will release a firmware update and get rid of the friend code I can never remember mine even though I doubt anyone can."
How about releasing a firmware upgrade allowing support for external hard drives. You can get a nice 40 gig one for around 50 bucks and developers, as well as Virtual Console users who want to buy more W N64 games will have some many more options if we just have external hard drive support! We got the memory upgrade with Donkey Kong 64 on the N64 we need hard drive support. We could do so much!
*stops complaining*
and weren't square enix and other people in talks with them about that whole friend code thing? - thefaithful, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7"Heh, no wonder Wii as sitting collecting dust on store shelves."
Collecting dust? Where? Point me at 'em. - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Sure they will... online gaming is in full swing this generation, unlike in the last generation. Also, the Cube required a separate attachment whereas the Wii has WiFi built in already. Not to mention the DS has lots of online titles.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Your loss... the rest of the world will have fun without you.
- northernstar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@GfxWench
Collecting dust? Seriously? Nintendo had the upper hand in terms of number of consoles shipped, yet stores have still been sold out of Wii systems for weeks and weeks. On trips to Best Buy stores around the New York metropolitan area, I saw mountains of PS3s, still neatly stacked and untouched. No Wiis.

It's obviously too early to pick a console winner, but the Wii is definitely outselling the PlayStation 3. - olddirtycr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5There is something wrong when you have a main like 16 character one, then a 12 character one for each game (assuming other games follow the pokemon game's setup)...
- TiMMY8765, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I just keep mine in my wallet
- northernstar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Well, Elebits uses the system's Wii Number, and doesn't require its own friend code. I'm pretty sure that the Pokemon game needed its own game code because it can be used with the Nintendo DS. Let's hope that future online games continue the Elebits trend.
- madjo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dear GFXwrench.. I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but it's the Wii that is flying of the shelves. In my neighbourhood it's nowhere to be found.
And all over the world, people are still lining up to get one.
Where are the lines for the PS3 or the XBox360?
I think you got your facts wrong, it's in fact the PS3 that's left on the store shelves. And, allegedly, Sony is already contemplating a price drop, which is rarely done in the first year of sale for a gaming console, unless it tanked.
Another point to mention is that there aren't many 'killer' titles out for the PS3, and most of the announced games will also appear on the XBox360. - wimbet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KMU0tzLwhbE
- DiGiTaLM4N, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yeah people thought the DS was just some fad now look at it. One of the best selling gaming units on the market for nearly a year straight. A lot of people weren't expecting that.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3DS games use friend codes, but you can still play against random people. You only use the friend codes when you specifically want to play against your frieds. I have no idea if the Wii will use that same method.
- DiGiTaLM4N, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Bring on that ONLINE GOODNESS :D
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5How about this: It's extremely inconvenient and childish.
I understand Nintendo's on the lookout, and trying to avoid those ridiculous Fox News reports, so, since they're targetting this system to FAMILIES (Mom, Dad and the rest), and they're actually doing it successfully, why don't they give the owner the ability to turn this system on and off on their own terms? People who want to regulate their kids' usage of the online capabilities can leave it to the default "On," while the more advanced or adult users can turn the damn annoyance off.
I don't want to use my Wii just to play people I already know. Maybe I can meet new and interesting people with it, and with the current system, that's simply not possible. I'd have to actually use a 3rd party (forum, website) to get new friend codes. It's stupid. - SkippyDoorknob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The Pokemon Wii game is an exception because it can connect to the DS versions - and the DS expects to connect to something with a 12 digit friend code, so the Wii has to have a special 12 digit friend code for that game.
Elebits has some online functionality and just uses your regular Wii address book. - madjo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Only directly from Nintendo....
It's not a freely distributable SDK. - converge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wii are still almost impossible to get, unless you want to wait in a 2 hour line. PS3's are the ones collecting dust on the shelves.
- mannymix03, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6everyone whines about the friend codes, its one console code for ALL games, and i have all my friends added to my address book. I see no problem with the current system
- varchar32, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4
I wish I could have play FightNight Round 3 with Wii controls - HullCrushDepth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.warioworld.com/apply/ds.html is the application to become an authorized Nintendo developer for the DS, so you can check out some of the requirements if you're interested though.
- HullCrushDepth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nintendo generally only sells Dev-kits to licensed developers. So essentially, if you need to ask you can't get one.
- HullCrushDepth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's a result of their experiences during the video game crash, up until that time anyone who wanted a devkit could get one for fairly cheap as a result the market was flooded with people selling terrible games. Consumers were frustrated as they had no idea what games were good and so virtually everyone stopped buying. If you're interested in developing just for fun I'd recommend you look at the DS home-brew scene there's a lot of information out there about how to get started. Using the right hardware you can put your creations on a cart you can use on an actual DS as well.
- rac3r5, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2On a related note... does anyone know where I can find an official SDK for the nintendo DS? I can't seem to find an official one from Nintendo?
- rac3r5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1thanks for the info...
I basically got myself a DS Lite on boxing day.
After playing on it, I thought it would be fun to develop game for it.... just for fun...
I don't have the 2.5k to 10k lying around to drop it on something that I would like to explore for fun... kind of seems silly from nintendos side of things... - knodi, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3The real question is will they use it? They had Gamecube online dies for almost 2 years and nothing came out of that.
- RastaMahata, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3the _wii_ friend codes are said not to be used in games. For example, pokemon for the wii uses a friend code, but it's completely different from the wii friend code system! So yeah, you have to say "here's my wii number: 1234123412341234. And here's my pokemon number: 1612344321432342. You got that right?"
The wii number is for messaging, photos, and mii sharing.
I'm Guessing each game will have the option to have a separate system, being this a friend code one, a free for all lobby system with chat rooms, or maybe simply using the wii code as a base. This would allow for MMORPG where you can MEET people without knowing them beforehand. - KnockoutNerd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Thats only the console games will most likely have separate ones if they don't change it.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I like party games to have a good element of chance, otherwise it sucks (for both the pro and amateur) when you have players of different skill, because the better player will always win. It's that element of chance that make games like backgammon, cribbage, and Risk so much fun.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I kinda agree. Where are the good old american developers. I am sick of these weird ass japanese mini games.
At least sonic wii looks amazing - dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Bra-vo! Laughter just ensued!
- DiGiTaLM4N, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Nothing wrong with the friendcode system at all. I am still not sure why people are b!tching about it. Possibly they are just lazy and don't want to type too much hehe.
- BuGz213, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3Finally... but the friend code is still a pain...
- tidu, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2don't digg down dusingas, he rhymed with me
- TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -11/+6@freetyme?
HAVE YOU EVEN HEARD OF THE BLU-RAY? - dusingaz, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4yeah it is beta after all
- ErifNeerg, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2...
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2The DS is still a gimmick if you ask me.
