- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+34Good...I bet his son was playing World of Warcraft...
- plamoni, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31And apparently his dad is into first person shooters...
- CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13This kid is 22, I would have just kicked his ass out, no need to start discharging firearms.
- ThaCapn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Obviously his son was close to the monitor when it was shot at. It doesn't matter if he wasn't aiming at him. He was putting his life in danger in such a way that could have ended it.
- mozillaman0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Imagine the irony if the son was playing Counter-Strike when the dad shot at the monitor.
- CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Plus the "kid" was 22 years old, at that age, the parent really has not say in how the son can spend his time, about he only thing the father could have done was kick the kid out, not shoot the monitor.
The guy needs to take anger management classes badly. - gamekid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I blogged the story just for that comment.
(Certainly a lot more dead pixels than Dell would care to replace.) - Pogue_Mahone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Ok - Dad's getting worked up over 22 year old son playing too much video games. There's two poles here.
1) Dad is insane, and went over to son's house, critiqued his life and then shot his computer.
2) Dad is still insane, but 22 year old son is a fat ass lazy POS who is leeching off his parents so he can play games 20 hours a day and not have any real grownup responsibility.
Now if I were a betting man, and had to put money on the situation I would guess that its closer to number two than number one. In which case, the kid obviously didn't deserve to have his life endangered but probably deserved to have his monitor shot. - dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7He should not have shot the dam monitor in the first place. There is other ways of controlling your son/daughter besides getting a gun or screaming your ass off. At least the dad will have time to think about it while hes in prison. As much as he doesnt deserve there to be charged with attempted murder, he does need to cool it a bit.
- CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Talk about surround sound.
- brandonking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Probably was this guy's dad:

- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Thank got it did not hit the Tower...
The world is still under the "fixable" status! - rot97, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I read about this a couple days ago, this guy took a gun and shot the monitor when the kid was right by it... He couldve killed the kid and then there would be a story about how games influence children's parents to kill their kids, and Jack Thompson going on another one of his crazy rants.
- CaptRR, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2While attempted murder it probably pushing it, I imagine he shot the monitor while the son was in front of the computer. The bullet came close enough that the prosecution probably thought they could get attempted murder.
- wai_xing_ren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Remember Psycho Dad, from Married with Children?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3hope the kid keeps a closet full of extra monitors like master shake and his TVs...
Master Shake: What the?? This closet was full of TVs the last time I checked and now there's none!
Meatwad: Cause you keep breaking them.
Shake: Cause you keep pissing me off so bad! You should be lucky I'm thoughtful enough to throw the
anger at the media... and not your buttocks! - Koskun, on 10/12/2007, -2/+322 years old, living with his dad, arguing over how much he plays computer games.
1) Why is that 22 year old "kid" not living on his own?
2) Why, not withstanding a 22 year old still living at home, are they arguing about computer games?
I agree with the statement earlier said, kick him out. Hard to play on the computer if you don't have anything to plug it into. - petro62, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well he is 22 he needs to be looking at moving out of his rents house anyways.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1At the very least, I'd consider that child endangerment.
- tokyopimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man, this is why people exspecially kids in there 20's living at home should not be aloud to play WoW.
Now if this kid was paying rent to his family, essentially renting his room as an adult. And he was in his room, playing WoW. Then this father steped way out of line.
But it's more likely the kid does nothing, plays WoW all day, while his father goes to work everyday. I'd be pissed off to, probably turn the kids computer off and tell him he has to either start paying me rent, or move out and give him a month or two. - toxicgonzo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3wow so he almost TK'd his own son?
Someone ought to kickban his dad from the server. - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6Man shoots at PC and gets charged with "attempted murder" (an intentional act to take a life).
Typical prosecutor's over-reach. - TigerClaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a domestic violence issue, The fact pulling out a gun and threatening the son whether its pointed at him or not would still land that father some serious time in jail.
- popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I can taste the irony...
- TonySki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1why the hell did the dad aim have the gun on him in the first place?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1shooting the monitor. lol. yeah there's a real stable individual.
- popltree2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1*buh dum, pshhh!*
- HotGore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Boom! Monitor Shot?
- ekso, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh great!
Now Jack Thompson have another example of computer games producing violent behaviour!
:) - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ah yes, solving frustration with firearms... the American way since forever. Give this guy Dad of the Year.
- ACoolie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Involuntary attempted manslaughter sounds like a more reasonable charge.
- Battlecry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How do you know he was really aiming for the monitor? Maybe he did miss.
- p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Talk about surround sound." THE best comment so far.
- Doggpound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Perhaps the dad is just a very bad shot and hit the monitor. I could definitely see him go down for attempted murder as he should. I mean if the son is in your house and you do not like him playing games kick him the heck out he was 22yrs old for Christ sake.
- fronta1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1he deserved it.....not to die, but to get the monitor shot at....if i had to guess id say the guy knew what he was doing and didnt mean to shoot his kid....if the guy wanted to shoot his kid he ...would have shot his kid....the little f*cker needs to wake up,,, get a job that sounds harsh but i bet its true (im 21yrs old)
- imdwalrus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2It's a darn shame we don't know what he was actually shooting at; if we did, we could decide if the charge was justified or not.
Heck, for all we know, the shot might have been aimed at the son but hit the monitor (which I'd assume was) behind him. What proof do we have that the father was aiming for the monitor itself? - Nameless1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Ok, why is he charged for attempt at murder? He shot the monitor, not his son. Charge him for property dammage or something.
- Kutar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Misleading headline. The article (blurb) says the bullets "hit a wall close to where the son was standing," and the father said the gun went off accidentally. Don't you read articles before you submit them?
Reported inaccurate. - davidlkirby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0RTA:
The bullets hit a wall close to where the son was standing, but no one was injured.
Tim, 22, called 911 and said he and his dad were arguing and his dad had just shot at him.
Investigators said Langenderfer told them the gun went off accidentally. - aussieaubs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2"......Investigators said Langenderfer told them the gun went off accidentally."
*LOL* u crazy americans.... - rhinopig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I guess I've been up to long...
I read the title as "Dad fed up with computer games shoots son's mother."
Heheh, I'd love to see Jack Thompson as the dad's attorney. - eastshores, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4@ThaCapn
*****! You need to look at what law says about "intent" it's a very important part of our legal system. What that charge amounts to is that he aimed at his son and missed! How likely is that to hold up in court? - louis75, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0From the article: "authorities said he fired a shot at the computer monitor."
Seems perfectly accurate to me. - AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2This has been posted and duped so many times its not funny.
