- phoggey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+44Don't think that would work out. The cat would leave you and randomly come back for food, then leave again. Probably run from fights too, pussy.
- cool8man, on 10/12/2007, -5/+47Seems like Lionhead is cherry picking the best ideas from "non-games" like Nintendogs and The Sims and implementing them into a traditional game. The dog sidekick thing has been tried many times before in action games (ie. Shadow Dancer, Dead to Rights), but this looks like an infinitely better simulation of an actual dog. Fable is a good series, I'm really looking forward to this sequel.
- Ravenlockheart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40Aww i couldn't leave that poor dog alone like that... its so mean to do that to an animal.
- Oetzi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32thats the lead designer Peter Molyneux. Not a marketing guy.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28@Klarth
Don't forget unprotected sex! Err... is that a feature? - Photics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27The last line on the third video was kinda creepy...
"If you end up caring for this dog, then I've got you."
Muwhahahahaha! - herrshuster, on 10/12/2007, -4/+23needs more cowbell
- phoggey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17@raven I thought I was watching a Discovery documentary for a while, some British people can even make games sound important.
- graemee, on 10/12/2007, -6/+22Needs more cat.
- Klarth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Yes. And it leads to certain "bugs" every now and then.
- decipherd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17i remember the first time seeing a dog in oblivion and laughing myself silly.. about three animations and they pivot on a central axis like those 2d trees that rotate to face you..
now this... :-O - TheTjalian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15***** man, know your developers! :P
- liah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I'm pretty amazed at how well they've done the movements on the dog. It's almost flawless.
...Then I watched the third video and got upset, that poor dog, even if it is a bunch of pixels :( - jsballardx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Americans don't dislike the British we just prefer their accents to be used as villains in movies.
- YourTechSupport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12But it's true.
- Akaji, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15@YouHaveCancer
If your post was not satire, I will take the first chance I get to destroy the world just to stop your stupidity from spreading. - Zibalingz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13Dogs bleeding, beating your wife and kids, contracting std's in the game? *shudders*
Jack Thompson is gonna bury Peter Molyneux!!!! - decipherd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11hi res versions...

It's the animation that makes this dog video so great. Animation in videogames is still twitchy and inhuman looking (I'm an animator, I notice this), but Fable 2 looks very promising.
White Knight was another game that I saw recently that had incredible animation in it. Kudos to these animators. - DTJunkie07, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11At the end of the video when they show the fly by of the town Molyneux mentioned that these graphics were still early and unpolished but damn did they look ***** sweet! I don't even want to think of how good this game is going to look visually. Looks a hell of alot of fun to.
- brokendaylite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I liked it. . . Peter molyneux did a good job commentating what was happening.
- Reno582, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I hope theres different types of dogs you can have as a companion, like a pit bull that would be better at attacking, or a hound dog thats better at finding things.
- turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7this game has sold me on a 360
the end. - Razerious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Calm down, ADD kid.
- whiteguysamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You should still get a 360.
Everyone should. - Looie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I can't wait for Fable 2. The first one is probably my favourite game of all time. I still play it on my 360.
I hope some Americans aren't going to be put off this game because they dislike the British. - AndrewDB, on 01/10/2008, -2/+7And gears of war didn't?
- tankexmortis, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I can't help but think of Nethack...
- fivestarsoul, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5No.
- EssPii, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Even if those graphics were the final graphics for the game, he still would have said they were unfinished and unpolished.
- christoscamaro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I still haven't played the 1st Fable.
I really got excited about this dog replacement for a minimap. That was the most impressive part of the interview for me. GTA, FF XII, etc. Games with minimaps, I tend to notice I spend more than half the time staring at it while I play the game.
It would be really fun to keep focused on the game all the time. Not a little circle with dots in the corner. - AuAndCs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5but does he know the zeroth law?
- Peterh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think he says early on that the dog will morph and change to suit your play-style, much like the actual character
- Penpal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jesus Christ, lamborgini, lighten up. It was a small tech demo concerning the dog in the game. It wouldn't be very wise to show all of the features concerning your sidekick so far from the games release date. They've got to have some aces up their sleeve, and there will come a time when Lionhead will bust out the videos of your dog pal with giant horns and a fiery tail, or walking around like Okami with flowers sprouting behind him.
And concerning the whole mini map system: The dog is a good alternative. And, of course, no developer is going to have an open-ended game without a way point system or map check marks, because the average gamer is too ***** lazy, even with a guiding arrow. Half of my friends haven't finished the quests in Oblivion, and they were given clear instructions. A lot more gamers would have been frustrated if they were hucked into the game given nothing at all.
Just be patient, this is pretty much the first real video we've seen of the game, and you want everything. - uppedbyhiggins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This looks great, I'll buy a 360 just to play this game!
- Carlsen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I can't wait for this.
Peter Molyneux is a great games developer, one of the very best. His presentation often provide a good laugh aswell.
Populous, that was an awesome game. - elementfire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow, this is why Peter Monyleux is amazing -- fantastic ideas that are usually way ahead of their time (not unlike Will Wright). If they can create something like this in the next B&W game, it'd do much better than B&W 2 did.
- aardfox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3and that's a bad thing?
- Mitchbones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2 See, when your lying there dying a cat will eat you. A dog will lay beside you and die with you.
- PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Gears of War didn't get me to buy a 360, when this is released it probably will.
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Yes but the cat would bring you back a partially eaten rodent and be covered with some unidentified "smelly stuff." It could also destroy your virtual couch and hide your weapons because it likes shiny things.
- Mitchbones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You sir hit the nail on the head!
Dugg up. - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I honestly know zero Americans who dislike the British, and I'm one of those horrible conservative, xenophobic, Neo-con Americans that they talk about on BBC.
- Dragonspawn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I heard about the idea of the dog, I though it sounded lame, but seeing it in action it looks awesome.
- devindotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you didn't think this spam thing through much did you...
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Crackdown!
- MixMastaMetal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I can't wait for this! Ooooo I want it now!
