But I need someone else to test this and confirm it before I believe.- KingBabi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+182I actually have tested it and it works! I did it on my original copy of Red and Blue. Happiest day of my life, I tell ya.

- PhantomBantam, on 10/12/2007, -2/+42Good memories of that game. I had to play it three times, though. First, my game was destroyed after catching missingno. (goodbye lv.99 Charzard), then I intentionally missed the ferry, thinking a mew was behind the truck. Knowing that I could actually catch a mew does make me angry, though. Why couldn't I have known this 7 years ago!
- dominasian, on 10/12/2007, -62/+4a level 7 mew is like a pc with a ***** cpu. He works but is a weak piece of crap. Oh well now i have them all
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+106I thought he was under that truck?
- mrfreeziexp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+38I remember when they first found this out. Everybody(of course) was calling it fake.. But then, one by one, reports started to trickle in that it worked. Lol, one of the first posts confirming it worked: "OMFG. IT. F***ING. WORKS." Ahh, that day is etched in my mind forever. Great game :)

- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+22I ahve done some extensive research on this and there is a way to get anything in the rby @ level 7
just follow this and change the special stats:
1. Have a pokemon with a special of 21
2. Fly away from the Gambler battle on route 8(left of lavender)
3. Find any trainer and battle him
4. Fly to anywhere that has a Ditto in the wild
5. Let the wild Ditto transform into your Pokémon with the special of 21
6. Beat the Ditto (or just run away)
7. Return to route 8 (go to lavender, and walk to the left on that path)
8. If you did the trick correctly, you should be facing another Lvl 7 Mew!

p.s. I know it has other meanings - KJay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That truck bit pissed me off so much. I worked so hard at trying to move it that I actually developed a game shark cheat (this was before the game shark cheat for getting a mew was available) that let you walk over any object (sort of float in the air). I walked right over that truck and in that spot... no mew.
However, that cheat was pretty fun to see how the game designed. The game is actually one big map, not different ones. For example if you go just north of the town you start in there's a bunch of trees that block your passage north. Well, just out of your view there is the final four battle zone that concludes the game. - Killah_xxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ha ha ha ... Man, this brings me back. I saw this guide a few years ago. I wanted to try this and well ... I got my mew. Man, it made me happy aswell :)

- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I remember doing it this way years ago:
- Trel, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Should be a special of 15, no?
- AttackingHobo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Trel
No, it should be 21 in decimal because it is 15 in hexadecimal, and the hex number for mew is 15. - SpeedyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4renton> If you had scrolled down in the link, you'd have noticed that it says the exact same thing.
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14I remember doing it this way years ago:
- malarkeystone, on 10/12/2007, -68/+2wow. people are still playing this?
- Klisk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48Yes. All the time. It's still a rather "big" game series as far as popularity goes.
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51red and blue (maybe yellow, but i wasnt a fan of yellow much) are the 2 greatest games of all time. forgetting what pokemon has become in recent years, those 2 games, the original 150(151) pokemon are the greatest success in gaming history(to me at least). the story is so deep and flatout fun. many many hours and batteries were spent to "catch them all" and with this article, im going to head out to my local gamestop right now and pickup a used gameboy color and pokemon red. :D
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Hell, I haven't played Pokemon since I was 15, I'm 21 now, and I've been getting the Pokemon itch for the past 6 months. This has encouraged me to go out and order Fire Red from amazon.com and preorder Pearl.
So, yeah. People still play Pokemon. - 0x00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Really, Pokemon was brewed using the perfect RPG recipe. All of the elements were there and it added the "gotta catch 'em all" incentive and multiplayer. There was no way the game could fail, it's almost perfect in terms of design.

- Krymore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27Some jackass at my school tried to convince me that I could only move the truck by teaching Mewtwo strength. Big waste of a Mewtwo.
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9they placed the truck there to piss off people and make people come up with little theories on what was under it and then spend countless hours trying these bogus methods

- Torpov, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It doesn't look like the Missingno. trick. All that one was good for was screwing up the Pokidex thing on the computer (iirc) and duping items. This one is for legitly capturing Mew by inadvertently manipulating memory addresses (come to think of it, the Missingno. glitch probably did the same).
Anyway, had I not lost my GB Color (and Red cart :(), I would so go for this and try it. - aido2002, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0Yeah... that would be cool...
- aido2002, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Oh yeah, Missingo... While I'm thinking about it, did anyone ever figure out what the point of that thing was (besides just giving you something to do after you beat the game for the fourteenth time)?
NOTE: For some reason, I keep trying to reply to a below comment, but it is being put here. This is a reply to jmp478's "Is this the misingno. thing? My friend really screwed his cartage up with that." - CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20missingno was just a glitch, it wasn't put in there on purpose. they removed it in yellow.

- IcyStorm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is pretty old news by a couple of years or a few years, but good stuff. I got 6 Mews using this method :D
- iMatt711, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12it does work, for about a month at my high school people pulled out their retro pokemon games, ironically the older the game the cooler it was, and someone found out how to do this and spread it around.
- mdigirol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3its funny, last year the same thing happened at my school. it was interesting to see all different types of people playing tetris and pokemon on gameboy pocket and color.
- ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -25/+8would someone tell me how exploiting a glitch is any better than gamesharking a mew?
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+40Because then you don't NEED the gameshark.
- ThReAtEnEd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+451) you dont need to buy a gameshark a'duh
2) for those of us who tried getting a mew out of under some truck or something for a LONG TIME and going up and down cinnabar praying for a mew, its just cool knowing you can do it - bergur1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19you don't pay and you get a good feeling knowing you did it yourself.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22While I'm amazed that someone finally found how how to do it, but I'm not sure it it's considered legit by the game/Nintendo.
If you ever were in a Nintendo Pokemon competition event, they actually do/did check your game for exploitation, game sharking and other things.
If anyone knows if this would be detected, please post.- soot, on 10/12/2007, -29/+4lol
- ThReAtEnEd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+61dude...i highly doubt there are any competitions for pokemon red/blue/yellow.
relax. - TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19Even if there was, why would they ban the use of a pokemon what is actually in the game?
- ThReAtEnEd, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3unles they INTENDED for mew to be glitched/gamesharked,
there must be a reason mew is actually IN the game..
thers probobly a legit way to getting mew no exploit or hex codes or whatnot
...
or the dev'ers forgot to take mew out or put it in for the sake of having all the pokemon (at that time) in the game - TKdademon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6It's not technically tampering with the game. You're using what Nintendo gave you.
Also, this is so old, but I dugg it anyway just because this might be the best Digg story ever. - kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8yeah its not an exploit, i dont think. because if you werent suppose to get mew, they wouldnt have put in the character with stats and everything.
- Brak710101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Well, I'm sure Nintendo has discontinued these competitions, but there reason why they did this was becuase Mew was a special Pokemon given out at Nintendo Events. It came with it's on certificate card and such, and I know they did not at all like people who used the old rare-candy/Missingno exploits,
TKdademon is an RL friend of mine, we both probably spent 1000s of hours on these games way back when. :P - ImTheDarkcyde, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6"It came with it's on certificate card and such"
I call BS, because i won a mew from the Toys'R'Us earlybird-thanksgiving-thingy many years ago, about a month later they had me bring in my copy of the game, traded me a mew, and i was on my merry way, no special certificate or anything - Theodorant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ThReAtEnEd
According to Wikipedia, Mew was given out at "pokeconventions" by Nintendo so it was meant to be in the game. - cheeseron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was in one of those competitions! I even won a Pewter Gym badge pog for winning the first round. A 20 something year old guy beat me the second round, though.
- JT114881, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@kingfoot
They probably had to have mew programed into the game, because it was a game ROM, they probably couldnt transfer a mew, which would be a new pokemon if mew wasnt hard coded into the game in the first place. The mew "events" which you could receive mew was probably just an activation of mew in the game rather then actually receiving it. I could be wrong but it sounds good to me. - billymonster49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i got a mew from a special Pokemon event in 99. it came with a special certificate, and the machine they used to put him on with also checked the cart for exploits. that was one of the most enjoyable days of my life.

- stvnly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14no it was just a truck that you could see if you skipped the boat
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17"Once you defeat Misty, trade with someone a Pokémon that already knows cut from another game. Then continue the game without going on the SS Anne and get HM02 (fly) and HM03 (surf) as you go. Once gotten both fly and surf, go back to where the SS Anne is. Go right to where the screen switches and you see the ship itself. You will be on the boardwalk that leads to the ship. Surf off to the right until you see a strip of land with a truck on it. People have said that if you move the truck with strength, you will find Mew."
- AnalogMan151, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Screw trading. If you go on the ship and get the Cut HM just fight one of the trainers aboard and lose. You'll wake up at the pokecenter and the ship will still be there.
(TIP from someone with no friends therefore no one to trade with) - Chaotyk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The truck did absolutely nothing... it was just a truck. It was a really cool truck, mind you, but a truck nonetheless. No matter what anybody told you, you could not cut/move/surf on/dig under/drive/obliterate the truck. It just sat there and looked like a misplaced and apparently unusable vehicle next to a big boat.

1) The Mew Glitch (Or "The biggest news in years!!!")
There are many rumours on the Internet on how to get Mew. Many of these seem to revolve around a truck near the SS Anne. All of these rumours are false.
You CAN catch Mew using a glitch. This was on April 19th 2003. I'll list how to get 2 before you fight Misty. For more information, refer to the Mew Glitch FAQ by TheScythe. The method I list here is the "Kevdude" technique.
1. Defeat all the trainers on Nugget Bridge, but do NOT fight the trainer in the grass to the left of the bridge, or the first trainer in Misty's Gym. (Don't beat Misty either)
2. Catch an Abra in the grass to the left, and place this in your party. (Yellow owners will need to see Bill first to catch an Abra in the grass around the Day-Care!) Go to directly above the trainer in the grass, making sure he's off screen. Save now as you won't be able to risk saving until after you get the first Mew.
3. Step towards the trainer, and the instant he appears, press start. Teleport back to Cerulean City. Time it right and the exclamation mark won't appear until the Teleport animation kicks in.
4. Your buttons won't work, so go to Misty's Gym and fight the first trainer, letting him swim to you. After the battle heal up (if required) and get ready to catch a level 7 Mew. {NOTE : It's been brought to my attention that talking to anyone after the battle has a very small chance of causing the game to exit the "Mew Glitch Mode", so do take care.)
5. Head back towards Nugget Bridge again. Your menu will come up by itself. Simply press B to fight your first Mew. Save after catching it if you want.
6. Now clear a way to the youngster with a Slowpoke facing up the way (He's also the first trainer facing up the way). He's your next target for another Mew. Do NOT fight him yet. (Yellow owners will have already been this way, and should have went below him.)
7. Go to do the teleport thing again with the trainer in the grass to the left, but this time make your way to the youngster. IMPORTANT - he MUST walk to you, so go to the top before going in front of him.
8. Head back to Cerulean City after the battle, and in the same spot as before the second Mew will appear. Catch him to be the proud owner of 2 Mews. Use them as you like. - slickhare, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Wow... I remember hearing myth upon myth on how to get a Mew back in the day. Everyone SWORE that they knew how to get Mew. Talking to that one guy who keeps asking if you got all 150 pokemon (and he just gives you a certificate), some truck somewhere, doing that MissingNo glitch for hours until he showed up, and many more.
- kazuhima, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2wow, you have got to be kidding me.
i lost my whole pokemon green (jp version) save file after doing some select button/item trick 7 years ago (which did get me a mew). arghh!!! - Impetouse, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20Somebody had to have one hell of an imagination to think of this.

- Th3Sourc3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+79Man, I was in a Nintendo contest one time and I won a Surfing Pikachu for my Pokemon Yellow cartridge. I sent it in, they sent it back, and lo and behold, a Surfing Pikachu.
Three days later, my cousin borrowed my cartridge only to return it with a new game where mine once existed.
I gave up on pokemon for the rest of my life...- TonyCubed, on 10/12/2007, -21/+1Surfing Pikachu doesn't exist, does it? :P
- takeshi7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15surfing pikachu does exist. i used my gameshark to teach my pikachu surf and then you could take it to that guy to play the awesome pikachu surfing MINI-GAME!!
- nesstheking1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27That is the saddest story I have ever read in my entire life ever.
I also have a Surfing pikachu, Ah the memories fo playing the mini-game and doing flips! - JorgeGT, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7did you eat his lungs?
- SpoonMachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+59berkeley.edu always was the best source for pokemon-related help.
- SatNav, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1i think you might be talking about www.azureheights.com - and it still is, for rby
- demonzeos, on 10/12/2007, -15/+0You can also get Togepei...you can get mew and togepei without the glitch, some years ago you could send in your red and blue and the game developers would insert mew in it..and I heard in New York they have a pokemon center in a nintendo building and you can insert your cartridge in it and get them...I dont know if its still there though.
- Dested, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15That sounds like one of those things that the kids a grade or two ahead of you told you one day.
- tallonx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19dugg for nostalgia
- Tamant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5MY LIFE IS FINALLY COMPLETE! THANK YOU!
joking. too bad, i had gotten one from one of those nintendo promotion things, :) - StickWST, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I remember when I was like 9, I got a little slip at a toys r us, I FOUND MEW!
I had to give them my cartridge for like 3 days for them to put it on there. Still awesome. - Maltby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I just had a game shark. I think I ended up with like 20 mews just because my friends couldn't get them and I wouldn't trade them just because I was the kid with all the mews. I used to love that game. If I was still 11 years old I'd probably try that out. I thought that the "real" mew was under the truck too. I considered all my mews fake because I game sharked them.
- SatNav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6haha, i had a gameshark too, and i used to sell mews to the other kids at school - i made like a tenner. I should have charged more, thinking about it...
- Skeksis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7No seriously, does anyone know the story behind that damn truck behind that boat? The SS Ann I think. You know how it goes:
1.Board the SS anne and obtain the "CUT" thing.
2.Then black out fighting someone on the boat so you end up at a healing center, and so the boat never leaves.
3. Complete the game normally, but catch all 150 pokemon.
4. Return to the boat (which you tricked into never leaving) and break the truck with strength.
And it never worked, but everyone knew about it.- stvnly, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7no, you can't get cut from the ss Ann, you have to trade for it, otherwise the ss Ann will leave
- ph3rny, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1if u follow the thread starters suggestions it works in rby
for the boat to stay behind in frlg you need to trade - Daisuke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5sorry, but skeksis is right. you only have to exit the boat through the front for it to leave. i know this because i did it a month and a half ago (yeah, call me a loser, or whatever.) go ahead, try it: you _can_ battle other trainers after getting cut from the captain. battle them and black out. you'll find yourself off of the ss ann, in the pokecenter, with the ss ann still there. you can visit it later, just remember to save before getting on it so you can visit it as much as you please (or whatever floats your boat.)
- JamesMorris, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19Am i the only person here that sadly never completed Pokemon?
- kingfoot, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10the only way to complete it is to go through it and defeat every trainer, and get all 151 pokemon (now you can yay!) and level them all to 99. Without cheating! (oh and I dont consider this a cheat, cause if it was, mew wouldnt exist in the game. and misingno doesnt count as a pokemon)
- stvnly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25why level 99? they go to 100 you know
- Willeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8And that also doesn't work.
In the Japanese version, catching all 150 would net you a Mew instantly by going to the dude in Celadon. In the US and EU versions, they took that out. - Rocketbird, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Haha, now kingfoot has to go back and gain one level on every Pokemon.
- takeshi7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27I know this is sad and depressing, but i still remember the gameshark codes to get mew.
0115D7CF=yellow
0115D8CF=red/blue - D3koy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I loved pokemon, because it was a game I could beat but still have fun playing...Fable was pretty much the only other game I beat and still played...
- antifreeze11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2really? Fable?
- bcbrin20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5perhaps..anyone ever catch the glitch pokemon missingno. ? ended up screwing up my original gameboy...as upstanding a company as nintendo is they replaced my 10 year old gameboy..and even reimbersed me for shipping fees. gotta love nintendo
- Lyph4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Missingno wasn't something to catch, it was to dupe the.. 6th item, I believe. That was how my friend got all his pokemon up to max level with duped rare candies. Unfortunately for him, hax don't make you good at the game. ;)
- BrooksTheLaw, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0Just so you kids know, this bug was found in August of last year...
- everfalling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4oh man. i used to love this game for the sheer number of 'hidden places' websites claimed to exist. such as the cave behind bills house (evidently there was a way to get past his machine inside his house to gain access to the mountain behind the house), bills island (the map screen shows an island on the far right top, but that's actually just bills house, even though it doesn't look like it's an island), and some secret part of the safari zone.
- happyman987, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1what about 'pikablu' there was a rumor around ages ago, yet idk if it rly existed...
- cesclaveria, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the pikablu rumor was because of Merryl (not sure if that is how you spell it, a kind of blue, water rat or something like that)
