Seriously, if you ever go back to play games that you thought were great 20 years ago, you realize that they are fun for nostalgia for about 5 minutes, then you think "well this sucks." - Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+32Hah Chris ... chances are you weren't alive 20 years ago.
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17Jumpman Junior, Wizard, and Paradroid *NEVER* get old.
I put "never" in all caps because I was actually screaming it at the top of my lungs. - Gryffydd, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@Coffeedemon
He may have put it a bit indelicately, but I can't count the number of times I've pulled out old games I played on a 386 or a Super Nintendo, thinking how much I loved the game and how much fun I had with it, put it in, played for 5 minutes and got bored.
That's not to say that these games won't be cool to have available, particularly when you've got a group of people together who all used to play the games. - greyfade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I fondly remember the Aliens games, Gunship, Gauntlet, SLINKY!, and dozens of other games, both mainstream and obscure. C64 on Wii is t3h w1n.
i can't count the number of times i've fired up an emulator or dug up my old C64 just to play a game or two. - raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Sure, some old games turn out to be crap when you go back to them, but I can't fire up Commander Keen in dosbox without getting sucked in for like 3 hours. And I had a similar experience with Jumpman Junior on that C64-in-a-stick thing a couple years ago.
Jumpman Junior was the first C64 game I ever played, so I'm looking forward to seeing how it plays on the Wii. Hope they get the full Jumpman game on there too (30 levels instead of 12) since JJ is still fresh in my memory. - daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree. This is AWE SOME.
Art, genius of men who were limited by hardware, these games should never be forgotten. - h00paj00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been looking for a place to play Jumpman Junior online in flash or java.
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree... Jumpman Junior FTW! Not to mention MULE.

- armo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6and c64.com for a few hundred games, ah the memories :)
- Paroparo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Very interesting if true. I never played the C64 (too young), but I hear a bunch of great games were made for it. No way in hell I'm paying more than 5 euros for one, though.
- orenthal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2below the roots? only game i can remember from grade school.
- darkixion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1As long as they aren't crap C64 games this is excellent news!
- jlebrech, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Nintendo: Buy Great Games - Again
- Sirocco, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Your point? Microsoft offers the same thing with Live Arcade, and Sony is jumping on the bandwagon as well.
- daridave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1While I enjoy Xbox Live Arcade a lot, I believe the Virtual Console will quickly become the reference for this kind of movement. Why, the classic gamepad is a HUGE plus, IMO.
- bouche, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13no *****' way!
Hoping for:
Summer Games
Winter Games
Impossible Mission
Jumpman

The Great Gianna Sisters
Skate or Die - AdamWeeden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Manic Mansion
- gleepskip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You reminded me of the awesome days of Electronic Arts before they became the current monstrosity. I loved their games like Mail Order Monsters, M.U.L.E., and Racing Destruction Set.
I even liked Dr. J and Larry Bird Go One on One. It used to take 3 minutes to load that game on the C-64 with the 1541 drive.
Do you remember the square folder-style packaging their software used to come in? - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"I even liked Dr. J and Larry Bird Go One on One. It used to take 3 minutes to load that game on the C-64 with the 1541 drive."
Yeah, but it was worth it. Especially any time you could break the backboard and then the janitor when waddle in and yell (well, make noises) at you. I used to have the noises the disk drive would make memorized for that game.
Kids these days... complaining about 30 second load times.
LOAD "*",8,1
FTW

nintendo pockets $250
nuff said. - Sorcy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Waiting for Miner 2049er and Bounty Bobs Revenge ... those two and I will never leave the house. Ever.
- HAKdragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Why? Why does Nintendo insist on making me poor?!
- ThrasherC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Have you tried out that "How much money do I need to save for a Wii" site? That made me sad. I still came in under the price of buying just a PS3 console with all of my games and controllers and such...but still...Nintendo is going to make my wallet cry.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I agree I can get a whole system setup the way I want (with games and VC controller) and mine ran up to 435...roughly speaking and that was way below the price for the PS3.
- bacardi151, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bard's Tale I, II and III and Mail order monsters ftw!!!
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Definately. Add the SSI gold box series (Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, etc) and Mule in there and we're set.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hooo boy...
Here's hopin for at least:
Law of the West
Caveman Ughlympics
Leaderboard Golf
Impossible Missions 1 & 2
Spy Vs. Spy
Karateka
Bubble Bobble (SO much better than the NES version)
Oh man, so many others...
PLEASE let more than just Epyx jump on board.- kevthecatslayer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Law of the West is one of my favorite games of all time. I loved shooting that little kid.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Law of the West is actually proof that video games only became controversial with greater exposure. You could kill women and children. You could get in a fire fight yourself. If you got shot, the doctor would, most of the time, be too drunk to help you. Man, that game was the GTA of its time! Yet no one knew about it save the C64 gamers.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thats the one where you had several possible text responses to give to a person in each situation right? Some would make them happy and some would get them to attack you? I remember a western game like that being very fun - and my first exposure to the term "painted jezebel"
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wizard Construction Set!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wizard_(computer_game)- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oh wait, even better....Racing Destruction Set!!!
- MoonDogAFO, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Jumpman, Impossible Mission, Bard's tale...mmmm, the memories!
- griz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lest we all forget....FAIRLIGHT!!
- thatgirlismine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Master of the Lamps! What what?!
- BritishGolgo13, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Power at Sea anyone?
- VeganG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There were quite a few point & click adventure games that had C64 ports!
- gxcdesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I'm hoping the Wii can handle those graphics
- Agret, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1As long as they're free or like $0.10 each, nobody would pay good money for games of lesser quality than your flash game created in 5 mins.
- b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a difference -
Flash games that take 5 minutes to make are crap because no work or love has gone into them. Even if they're on obsolete technology, old games can be very good indeed if work and love has gone into them to make them fun.
- b3mus3d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There's a difference -
- jferrari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It's good to see at least they are going for gameplay rather than gfx, some of the old classics are far better that any of the new fancy looking *****.
They should do some Amiga games also..
-Cannon Fodder
-Sensi Soccer
-Syndicate
-Populous
-Project X - euphoriadj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6All I got to say is ELITE
- dbug, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Big deal. Even my cellphone can run a c64 emulator.
- myxyplik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I remember Epyx published a couple of early Lucasarts games. One was called Kronos Rift, I forget what the other was called. I read about these, but never got around to getting them. That'd be sweet if those came to VC or XBLA. Of course, the rights to those prolly belong to Lucasarts, but still.
- darkixion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These weren't made my Epyx, but I'd like to see:
Flimbo's Quest
Turrican
Psycho Hopper
Wizball
Dizzy (all of them except the fast food dizzy)
Transformers
Creatures
Street Hassle
Ace 2
Barbarian
Bomb Jack
Chip's Challenge
Ghostbusters I & II
The Last Ninja 2
Myth
Rampage
Rockstar Ate My Hampster (although I don't know how you would type into that)- ahthrift, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Flimbo's Quest FTW
- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't forget that C64/Apple II (I forget which) had an obscure Mario Bros. title. I remember playing it in 5th grade. There was also this great game called Montezumas Revenge.
- kevin45, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://almighty.c64.org/images/supmario.gif
- happyhour247, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was wondering when someone was going to bring up Montezuma's Revenge.
Best C64 game ever. - TheWalkingDude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Montezumas Revenge and Commando were my favorites. It would be awesome if they kept the games the same, but tweaked the graphics a bit.
- drlha, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1One word: Wizball.
Still one of the greatest games of all time. I pity the US diggers who have such an American view of C64 software. So many awesome games came out of the UK in the 80s, especially on the C64.- nikoniko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What the...? Wizball was big in the US, too, and a few of the other Ocean games did pretty well here as well. There were a few Mastertronic games that saw success, such as One Man and His Droid, and Master of Magic. What about Gremlin? Another UK company. Or how about System 3, which put together the best-selling C64 games of all-time: the Last Ninja series? And then there's pretty much anything Jeff Minter made...
- kwip, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Archon 1 & 2, baby.
- enzyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Archon used to kick my ass, recently played it and it was too easy. If they just made it networkable... :)
- strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Where's the love for Castles of Dr Creep?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Castles_of_Dr._Creep
Co-op play and everything - lebel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Another visitor!... Stay awhile... Stay FOREVER!!"...

Can I get a 'BOO-YAH!!!' from the congregation?! - almightystoph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I just wish I could *easily* get C64 games on my DS...
- tophu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Go ahead and stay awhile. Stay... FOREVER!"
This is sweet! I hope they do Mail Order Monsters, too. - nerdvernacular, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Heart of Africa!!! I hope EA lets them use this game. Well ahead of its time IMHO
- dm1030, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1M.U.L.E. was my favorite game for the C64. I've found a couple of versions for the PC, but they are never quite as good as the original.
- blatantninja, on 02/21/2008, -0/+1Maybe I'll finally be able to finish Times of Lore!
Check out the new & improved
