Nice knowing you. - kentdoggydog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+124Dugg just to see this guy cancel his account
- cannibaljp, on 10/12/2007, -6/+118you're on the front page. you can now cancel your account...
- sampson123, on 10/12/2007, -6/+100"Sounds familiar to what Sony got ROASTED for here on digg right?"
No, Sony got roasted for saying that the PS3 was a supercomputer that would replace the PC.
Sony was making grand statement that were clearly false, Gates on the other hand is just being honest. - shrewduser, on 10/12/2007, -6/+77he hasn't canceled yet and this has been on the front page a while now...
hurry up and make good on your promise, i want to see some canceled accounts! - gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -6/+73"I was being sarcastic, "
You ***** fail. - SlappyMc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47you're a douchebag lights out. You've lost all net cred with me.
- wingnut21, on 10/12/2007, -5/+43Gates is also doing it at a reasonable price.
People aren't angry at Sony fort trying to accomplish a lot, but when the price gets pushed out of reach, we ask ourselves "wait, is all of this really worth it?" - stung47000, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Meh, some prize. You would probably just see a new user "LightsOut07" after a few days.
- baldr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Because a console is technologically the same in everyone's house (unlike the billions of variations of PCs), so coding games is much more efficient, easier, and effective.
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27Lights out, LightsOut06. Cancel your account or you're likely to be buried everywhere you go and never get a frontpage promotion again.
- pegisys, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23"I clearly don't see why people keep on making "Nobody wants to buy a PS3" entry everytime when NPD numbers show it sold more during it's launch than the 360."
that makes a good headline, but the truth is those are only the US numbers
MS still sold more units world wide in the same amount of time, and wasn't widely available until the following March. Sony only released in two regions, and only had about twice as many units in Japan, and is pretty much freely available now - mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18What the ***** was going through your mind when you thought up that analogy?
- trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17http://lightsout06.justgotowned.com/
- hotsoda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20"As usual, Bill was quick to stress that his vision of the 360 extends beyond its ability to play games."
This is basically the same comment that was made at E3 (not by Gates, but someone on the team) after the Xbox 360 made its debut. if you read the article, a lot of what Bill claims is true. Why should Microsoft get heat for it? - RealityCheque, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Brainboy is your name, yet you can't manage to type the "h" in the word "what", nor can you be bothered to type "your".
Children should not be allowed to use the internet. - crysys, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Aww, now your just backpedaling. You promised!
As far as the topic, I DNRTFA because I really don't care all that much about the console market except to hope that Nintendo takes it over once more because they seem to have the vision for video games that the other two players see only as "content" to deliver market share. But at least the XB focused on the video games that would put them in that market(in the US at least) and didn't adopt a holier than thou approach to telling the customer what they want and why they don't understand that they want it yet.
Now that they don't have to worry about Sony they can start to focus on adding value to the box they already got into your living room. Oh, and getting you to pay for that added value. That is just smart business. - a0me, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Nice over-promising / backpedaling.
He should change his user name to "Sony" or "PS3." - JangoFett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"Are you sure you want to block user LightsOut06?"
Absolutley. - Sakumi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13Well, the thing is, Microsoft DID want that, but they marketed it differently.
Think about it:
Sony To Customers: This is a computer, not just a gaming thingy ma bob. It's expensive, blu-ray and has badass graphics, and 8 cores etc.
Microsoft To Customers: Check out our badass NEXT-GEN gaming rig. We focused heavily on online stuff, so play with your friends, voice chat with them, and keep track of your gaming with your gamerscore! You can also get cool new ***** with your console now, such as movies! Cool! A gaming machine that does movies too!
See the difference? Sony just flat out says they're attempting to make a all-in-one machine. Microsoft markets it as a gaming device primarily, gets it in the living rooms, add the other offerings, and calls it a day. The problem with Sony other than .. stuff people have harped on for months: Marketing. - andyboy2k2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10You can't honestly believe he's going to cancel his account. He just said that so he can have his 15 minutes of fame.
- Gerz1219, on 10/12/2007, -6/+13*****. The PS3 running Linux is so crippled that one could get better performance out of a $200 homebuilt PC. If you're reading this right now, it's likely not on a PS3 connected to the TV in your living room, but on the PC in your bedroom... which is where web browsing should and will stay. Sony and Microsoft can add as much content as they want to the console -- that content will be specifically designed for the living room. That means 10-foot interfaces designed with a remote control in mind, with a focus on media playback. There's no web browser for the 360 because there's no need for one. Even if one was available, I'd get a migraine squatting in front of my 52" HDTV trying to get movie listings. I'd rather just walk ten feet to my bedroom and look it up there. Walking ten feet will not kill you, and I bet less than 1% of PS3 owners will ever use the box as their primary machine for word processing and web browsing.
- placidified, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8say bye bye to your account...
- wssharp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9doesn't this just open the door for "if this reaches the front page i'll ________"
if this comment gets dugg up to +350 i'll show you pictures of butts! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Douche bag hasn't cancelled his account. I'll be spending the next hour finding every comment he's ever written and digging him down.
- ScoobyG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"I'll be spending the next hour finding every comment he's ever written and digging him down."
- OR - you could just go on with your life. - BrainDance, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The thing is, Microsoft is actually delivering here. Their product seems to be living up to some of the hype they gave it! For all those features, the price looks better and better.
Sony, well you can't deny that Sony's product is a good deal more expensive. So, for being more expensive one would expect a better experience and for it to really live up to the hype. Ya, it can play blu-ray, which is nice but whether or not thats a "bargain" doesn't matter to those of us who aren't all to excited about hopping on the blu-ray bandwagon. And from my albeit limited exposure to the PS3, it just feels like a video game console. It just seems to be a big box that plays some (very beautiful) video games.
Even Nintendo is making their Wii a lot more then just a next gen console, Opera and the forecast channel (and most likely the news channel) are really kinda nifty and while they have somewhat limited uses, they're still cool and make me feel like I'm living in the future (imagine showing a movie of someone sitting on their couch, flipping the globe around in the forecast channel to someone from the 50s!) and the virtual console is great for those of us who grew up with a Genesis or an NES as long as we have a bit of cash to waste.
Sony needs to realize that sometimes its the little things that count. That cell processor is cool, ya, but people today get bored easily and need a whole lot of other little "things" to keep us occupied. Like this really cool game my friend was playing on his 360, he said it was free. Some game with a space ship shooting stuff on a weird 3d grid that warped around to the game and the music, awesome with some infected mushroom playing in the background. Totally a last gen game but still completely awesome. - GhostToon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dear god man! Do you really have multiple butts?
- chazuk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3What is your problem?
My XBOX360 plays games, lets my rip and listen to my music. I can play DVD's and i EVEN HAVE THE CHOICE of ADDING HD-DVD.
The best thing about it is the ability to use my 360 as a media center extender, this all mkes the 360 go beyond what a standard console can do and it didn't cost me loads of £££'s because they were shoving a self made format down my throat.
Now, GTFO! - D4V1S, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4who the hell cares if the guy cancels his account? you can still read the articles...you just can't submit and digg..and have those petty creature comforts like, what categories you want to see....

- rocman9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@wingnut
You know, before the PS3's price was announced, people (including me) were scoffing at the $400 price point too. You make it sound like the 360 is a steal. Maybe relative to the PS3, but the ordinary consumer is still going to be taken aback at the price because $400 is an assload of money no matter what. - alx242, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Bill could I please install some of my software on my new computer...oh I can't...could I perhaps develop some for it? I could, thanks! Can I give it to my friend he really needs this program...oh I can't? I have to pay you 100$ just to develop and then my friend also needs to pay you the same amount to run it and we can't make the program anything we want, just games...thanks....but no thanks!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3you're obviously just linking to things based on hearsay, because it is in no way EASY to put a user made program via xna onto your buddies xbox
- taxman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3There is nothing wrong with the statement....It can be considered a general purpose computer once all the IPTV, increase download contents are integrated...but not yet. A normal person uses a computer for music, movies and the internet..It already got the 1st 2,though in small amount, and with IPTV, it also has a bit extra.
But unlike sony, they never lost touch with reality, that people buy a gaming console predominantly for playing games and anything else is just added bonus. They still have hordes of great games coming out and the live performance haven't deteriorated since the introduction of movie downloads. Its so easy to download movies and tv shows to watch on tv compared to itunes or amazon. Of course it wont replace the PC even if a web browser is introduced, but its a good alternative for media hungry PC users. - greeneyes137, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dug just so you'll cancel your account
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Cancel time, cancel time, cancel time...
- enforcerpsu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, I just want to know if this guy canceled his account yet. This story has been dugg so yeah, cancel it now.
- jamend, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6Does Toxx Clause work on digg?
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3cancel your account. i dare you
- itsHef, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The Xbox 360 is doing real well. There's no need for this smug attitude. Sure back when the Xbox came on to the scene a couple of years back it was kinda lackluster. Bill, come we expect better than this from you.
- FreddieD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Based on the comments i'm reading about him, I wouldn't exactly call it fame...
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It is a ***** game console with some extra features, i am tired of this general purpous computer *****.
- rbanffy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Any computer that can only run "blessed" software is not a general purpose one. Period.

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2" This story surely wont get dugg and if it does I'll cancel my account."
the last words of a glutton for punishment. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm not sure why Bills statement is a problem? Its in their best interest to put out great content still, and if they make the device into a tivo or whatever then more power to them.
- rccgd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if he cancel his account and that story is posted, i'll digg it. :D
- jockser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this is the new trick ??
