- Kagemusha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Okay 1st thing this game is OLD!!! HAHA just wanted to say that.
I have been living in Korea since this summer and this is a legit game. Nexon is a company that has several fun online games (such as KartRider) and Warrock is just a great game. I havent checked out the English version yet (a benifit of understanding Korean) but the game is only for windows. It is a capture the flag based game. Each team gets a certain amount of points (we usually play to 300 over here) and there are different classes (although most are pretty useless). You capture the flags and that becomes a new spawn point. The levels range from small and urban (such as Havana or Montana) to large and open (the new map Conturas). There are several types of vehicles including: motorcycle, hummer with mounted weapons, tanks (single to multiperson), troop transport, helicopters, boats, and jet planes. The game is very popular over here, and you really dont have to worry about spyware/trojans... You earn points during the game and in game dollars which eventually you can use to buy better weapons (which I suggest you do immediatly because if you go up against someone who has the new weapons and you have the old weapons you will get owned). It is updated (at least here) pretty regularly. Anyway enjoy this game.
Oh also aren't all FPSs derivitave of each other? This isnt as in depth as Battlefield and isnt really trying to be. It is just a fun quick game. Also Korea does have free MMORPGs and Nexon has several...you just have to be able to read and type hangeul (the korean alphabet)
Also in response to questions: Firefox is not used in Korea, neither are apple computers (because of some sort of trade dispute or something) but the popup programs and anti-virus programs are fairly powerful. You have to remember that in Korea most people go to PC rooms to use the computer or play rather than use their home computer. - plasma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4http://warrock.nefficient.com/kipawarrock/WarRockSetup.exe
- thefold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3make sure to use IE not Firefox when using the site, FF get's pwned Korean style

500MB+ Free disk space - JeffH, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3WTF people, it's not a virus. If you haven't noticed the amount of free MMO's and other games from Korea have always been coming. SilkRoad Online, GunZ, etc.
There is not a virus, it's just another free game from Korea.
Something weird though...I don't know if anyone else noticed, but almost none of these sites that these games have work in Firefox. Does firefox not exist in Korea or what? - Zypher, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Are the Koreans planning a secret cyberattack by releasing free MMORPGs? :P
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just played it.
It's amazing. - zeth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wohaa! The website sucks, but the game is great!
It's not very demanding either. I can play it with maximum graphics settings on my laptop without any lag. - PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2virus/trojan??? are you freaking nuts??? get off your paranoia mindset already bro. Jeebus Christus!!!
- Kagemusha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ARRGGHHHH okay for the ignorant masses (ie mindtrigger) The game is free because in Korea profits from games come from PC Rooms (people pay to play per hour right? and these send a percentage of profits to the companies) Also for the example of Maple Story (a free RPG also from Korea) there are lots of merchandise available. Nexon is an established and respected company and have kindly released the game with an english (even if its *****, its free so stop complaining or learn to read korean its not that hard) translation. Something that they didnt have to do. Perhaps at a later point they will release a way to pay for exclusive character upgrades or something, but even here they havent done that yet so who knows.
I SAY IT AGAIN: this is an established and respected company, and the game is very wide spread and popular in Korea (where PC and arcade gaming far exceed console gaming because of trade restrictions with Japan). Just download it and enjoy or don't its your choice, stop being paranoid.
So again: this is legitimate, and while I enjoy Battlefield 2 too, this is not the same game. Just because it has military themes and vehicles...Its free, fun, and addicting enjoy it. - DJPandemonium, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"WTF?!?! Am I the only one here that believes ripping off a game is wrong? I know some of you may not live in a country that respects U.S. copyrights, but completely ripping off someones work is just wrong in my opinion. Is there anyone here that agrees with me?"
What are you talking about? Nobody ripped anybody off. The game is supposed to be free. Sure, the game has a similar style to BF2, but it's quite different in other ways. Calm down, and go look at it. - PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2^^ No :)
- kimuuu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Woohoo! I was "registrated"!
- zaid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow...some people need to really just chill out about the whole security thing. Just because something is free does not mean its a trojan/virus.
And refusing to use IE outright? like its gonna kill you? if you're so afraid of others infecting your system, why not just sit behind a router?
Seriously though, what is up with all these Korean game makers releasing things for free? I know that if the game acutally catches with enough of a following, they sometimes make money through in-game sales, (at least for RPG type games), but can they really make enough? I guess "enough" is a relative term...
Oh, and to the guy who was pissed off the game allegedly copied Battlefield 2...dude, come on, you really dont mean what you said right? So you're pissed this game is a FPS with vehicles. Cause thats the only real "copy" here. - TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1cant sign up, always sayd ID not available no matter what i put in, even if its all low case (i also find it funny that it tells us to make sure we put in lower case numbers too)
- Bradasaurus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you want a modern combat game and battlefield like play just download Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1. You can buy the game for cheap and you can have some pretty great graphics.
- Brightside, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://supremeweirdo.blogdns.com/files/WarRockSetup.exe.torrent
- counsel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mindtrigger actually wrote that! WOW. Yes, it is a quote (See above). Now..let me see...'anyone who installs a friggin game for 'free' from a foreign source has to be the dumbest person on the planet.'
Free stuff on foreign accounts includes mplayer, opera, (why go on...). It is people who think 'free' is bad is why Openoffice isn't downloaded more often. "Why would anyone give it away?!" Typical 'american' thought processes....? Not in this house. - musenross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well agreed the headline is a bit lurid, but for a free 155 megabyte download this game surprisingly is a lot of fun (even if it well may be the zillionth CTF rehash). You've got four classes (engineer, medic, assault, sniper, anti-tank), different vehicles (motorbikes, humvees, tanks, mini-tanks, etc) and pretty standard maps. I haven't seen the blackhawk in action, but maybe that's just on a map i haven't been on yet. What's interesting tho is the game's server browser, which while listing servers also features a chat interface and on top has a way to manage clans and their members respectively - I think this is a pretty neat idea and should really be considered by Valve, EA and others. So if you've got some spare time check it out.
- Nermal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1System requirements? Will it run on a 2 GHz G5 with Radeon 9600?
- RatBagu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TheGooseyOne:
You have to click "check" on the id and/or username - EngelDesTodes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just buy the game man... You have to have an original CD key to play online... Playng BF2 in singleplayer really sucks... You can't upgrade your weapons and all of the maps are really small. Just wait for BF2142 to come out and buy that. Someone will Mod it to look like BF2 and hopefully it will not be as buggy... Just my two cents though..
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 ☺☻
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WarRock wesbite:
http://www.warrock.net/ - mrmejw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Even the IE Tab for firefox won't work
- ramsinks.com, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Works fine in FireFox.
Will add this to the game list.
Thanks. - Sharky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This game is really funny. It's not bad for a free game, and the motorcycles provide a good laugh.
- RogueJediX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Take a wild guess, kruncher. Windows only. Guess it's Nexuiz, Cube and such for us Unix users.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Also, I can't really blame you people since the title is misleading, but this is not Battlefield 2. This is WWII game that plays similar to Battlefield 2.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1is this multiplayer or just single?
- Brightside, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@kruncher
All I could find is a Windows version. But I'm attempting to run that in Cedega (4.4.3) in Linux. - Kruncher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it cross platform? Or is it only for Windows?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Korea pumps out good free games by the skidload.
For everyone who thinks this is a trojan horse, you should stick with your instincts and stay away from this game, leaving the ones with cojones to enjoy the game. Something tells me that you guys would be the whiny bitches anyhow. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Article about this game in the Korea Times. It looks legit:
http://times.hankooki.com/lpage/culture/200508/kt2005081117080265520.htm - shuffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1compjinx (0) -> I can see how that was much easier than just using IE.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i wanna make sure there's no spy-ware or viruses or some crap.
this seems to good to be true. - MarkXL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like free stuff!
- pwallroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Just played it, its pretty damn good. Its all multiplayer (i think) and it is like the game "Commmando's" for ps2 and xbox. Definitely no counter-strike. Still its pretty fun, gona go play it some more.
- diehard2k5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Man. I had to fire up IE so I could be Registrated and get some korean psycho virus prolly.. hehe
- hottyson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like free stuff!
So has anyone found out if it is a safe download yet? - Zeraxeal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hm...After seeing countless free MMOs that were made in Korea and made around few thousand diggs, maybe I should pay a bit more attention to the online games around here and try to get top digged story of my own...:P
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you like this Google America's Army. I think you will like what you find.
- icu_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Submitter, I served with Battlefield 2. I knew Battlefield 2. Battlefield 2 was a friend of mine. Submitter, this is no Battlefield 2.
Very arcady feeling - a good bit of fun. Felt like an early-beta UT2k4 mod. Worth a try - gave me a couple hours of fun. dugg - Zeraxeal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BTW, All of the games you see that are from Korea are made from companies who are big enough to cause national news if they have included malware in their games, so don't worry about them...These games are intended to make money from selling in-game items for real money anyway.
- jsherlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what ports does this game require because I'm on a college campus and it will not connect once the game is running?
- Jibberish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I will agree that the title of this article was quite deceptive, but at least it caught my attention. I would have never found this game had it not been for the title. Personally I think it was a good marketing ploy for the game, even if I do not agree with it. That said, I am getting a decent connection on the download, around 80KB a sec. It will be done by morning, and it was free. I hope it will be worth it. Good night...
- antispammer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just finished playing the game, its pretty good for free. Its more comparable to counter-strike than battlefield2. Battlefield2 is waaaay better.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0mindtrigger. The man is not tapping your phone...
yet! :) - QuorumCall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You're not building any bridges are you? He,he, I love International Terrets Syndrome.
