- Spaz007, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57So much for them sending out emails about it. Why sign up if they aren't going to send them out.
- deuceswilde, on 10/12/2007, -3/+56Last I heard the PS3 may never go on sale.
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -6/+56Not every game console has sold out on launch day. The PSP for instance was available in many stores for days, weeks even, after launch.
- lava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+46Dammit! I had signed up for an alert from amazon and they never sent anything. AAARGH
- ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41What does your 360 issues have to do with Nintendo?
Nintendo's equipment is always solidly built. - raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36It's not newsworthy that Amazon sold out. It's newsworthy that Amazon sold out within about 2 hours without even announcing that pre-orders were available in the first place.
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29Last I heard, the PS3 hasn't gone on sale yet.
- afex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23zero-hour? thats not even zero-decade..
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23No kidding - I was ready to put in my pre-order when it became available, and now I'm out.
I haven't heard about local stores taking pre-orders yet. At this rate, looks like somebody will be camping in front of the store. - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -4/+25That's what ya get for buyin a 360.
- tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20No the price was never supposed to be anything, you're getting confused with the hype that people on the internet perpetuated which led to disappointment when the real price was announced.
But your last sentence shows you're just a troll anyway, which leads me to wonder why I bothered replying. - raindog469, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Here's the original discussion on Amazon's discussion board....

Never been a zero hour console customer :-) - forgueam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16I received the email.... That is how I knew to go and pre-order it.
Came to $263.97 with one day shipping. - lgeller, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I was lucky enough to pre-order it too. If you look at what you are bidding on, it appears as though they are sending you a CD before the system ships. Probably with some previews and trailers for the system and games.I believe that is what the The September 25 - October 2 is for.

NO MORE SPAM
Or I'll give YOU the jizz-ache. - jizzatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11I also had signed up for the email notification and never received one, so I certainly would not trust them to let us know when the PS3 preorders begin. I have to give thanks to digg user Sleek for the tip. Here's his original post.
http://digg.com/gaming_news/Non_Bundled_Wii_Preorder_Amazon - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13And people think it's a bad thing that Nintendo are keeping their technology simple...
- wildleaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12I was able to get in for the pre-order of the Wii on Amazon. For me the 1day shipping was only $13, so the total cost was actually less than paying taxes when actually buying the system in state.
The Nintendo Store is also 2 blocks away from me. And Game stop is in Rockafeller Center as well. The question is: will there be enough available on the market that hoarding them and trying to sell for a markup going to be worth it? - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I was refreshing Amazon's Wii page all last week and was lucky to get one of the preorders. What's weird is that Amazon is still claiming this delivery estimate:
Items not yet shipped:
Delivery estimate: September 25, 2006 - October 2, 2006
1 of: Nintendo Wii - reed311, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Laws in the U.S. are made generally to protect the business, not the consumer.
- theWagsSGD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8i got lucky, i was checking multiple sites every hour after the announcement
- johnhummel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@Stealthboy: I certainly hope that is not the case - then again, their gamestop newsletter hasn't put that in.
If they require "used sale desposit", then they can kiss my fanny. - stealthboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9> "Wasn't the price supposed to be $179 or so?"
According to whom? Oh, all those intarweb rumor sites... right. - theWagsSGD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Glad i got my amazon preorder in at 9am (EST). I came into work and went to check and they were on sale. Soooo happy. haha
- JackHererUK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8What country do you live in where that is legal? The US presumably because you are quoting prices in dollars. Do you not have consumer protection laws over there? Here in the UK everything you buy new has to have at least 1 years warranty by law, and this has to be upheld by the retailer not the manufacturer so you can take it back to where you bough it and they have to deal with it.
- EXreaction, on 10/12/2007, -1/+84 million is going to be enough? You crazy?
Everyone and their grandmother is going to want one of these!
Anyways, I bet many people are thinking 4 mil will be enough. But I am definatly getting a pre-order...
Either that or I will have to sit in Walmart for like 12 hours to get one... :'( - UGM2099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Thanks, lgeller, you squashed my delusion that I might get the system early :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7uptown, I will avoid the usual ms slurs but I have to say "Microsoft is famous for using its user base as its beta testers".
- shifty2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Straight from the website: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009VXBAQ/102-7986365-2895342
"This item is not eligible for Amazon Prime, but over a million other items are. Join Amazon Prime today."
How did you get yours via Amazon Prime??? - tizz66, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Nintendo hyped the fact they were making a profit? That's odd, I thought they were just responding to a question that an interviewer asked (which the interweb then hyped). Would you prefer that they lied about it?
You used to be a reviewer? If your post is anything to go by, it's no wonder you still aren't. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6They must have sent out the e-mail to the people who signed up first to offer them the pre-order. A girl at work got the e-mail and ordered it.
- Renton, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Poor ilyag. He doesn't even know why he's getting burried. Every wii article you go to, you bash it in some way. You've made a reputation as a troll.
- jizzatch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Hey, that's my comment! I figured out that mine was about $20 more, because they charge sales tax in my state.
- sleazy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@CHENEYTHEDICK
thanks, I preordered mine from the store.
the world store in rockefeller plaza only requires a 50$ deposit. I know I'm bringing a large garbage bag with me to conceal it on my trip home. stupid subway thefts. - shifty2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8who is else is offering pre-ordering??

http://www.wii-preorder.com/ (seems kinda shady...) - hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Shipping is cheaper than taxes usually.
- shertzerj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I didn't receive an email notice either. That really pisses me off.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -6/+12People who live in central time. It's called the midwest. We elected your president, remember? :)
- Apreche, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I preordered from the Nintendo World Store in NYC. If you live within striking distance, I suggest you do the same while you still can. They have a minimum deposit of $50. They guarantee a system on release day. You can show up anytime on release day to claim it, perhaps even after release day. They're also guaranteed to have an essentially infinite supply of accessories and games available because it's the frekkin' Nintendo store. Much better than trading in $50 worth of games at Gamestop where you won't even be guaranteed a system before XMAS.
- RatherDashing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Bah, no need to preorder!
Nintendo stated that they will ship more than 4 million units by the end of the year, I don't think there will be a shortage, certainly nothing as bad as the 360...but i guess you never know. - jizzatch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Jizz-ache sounds like something you got last time you were at the dentist.
Anyway, just an FYI that since before the Leipzig conference in Germany, I have been checking digg hourly for preorder information on both the PS3 and Wii. It's no secret, just do a search for "pre order" and you will get all of the latest info. If you had done as I had, then you had about a 2 hour window on Friday where you could also have preordered yours. - washingtonydc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5the only problem with amazon pre-orders is that the wii is released on Sunday....so I'm guessing that amazon won't get it to you until Monday. I had the possibility to pre-order from Amazon but passed because of this. I'd rather find a store to get it at 12:01 am on Sunday.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4link?
- weprin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Any idea how many pre-orders Amazon.com was allotted?
- billucf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The Gamestop $50 trade-in is a trial thing they are doing in Hawaii only. I hope it fails so that it doesn't spread to all of the Gamestops.
- o0joshua0o, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Don't be fooled. This guy is just trying to reduce demand to improve his chances of finding a Wii on launch day.
- dvddesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Wal-Mart does, but their reservation system is a joke. The electronics department knows about as much about game console stock and supply as a McDonald's manager does about apple pies.
Best Buy generally in the past makes people lineup and depending on stores or districts, either takes your place in line or uses a lotto system. When I bought a DS and a PSP last year I had to wait in line both times. Waiting in line for the PSP was easier because no one wanted to wait in line on a Tuesday afternoon, but plenty of people (and kids) like to wait on Saturday nights for a Nintendo system. Bring a chair and a blanket.
The Circuit City I used to frequent didn't allow people to line up, but they had DS in stock that launch day - SmokeN-DC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I did not receive the e-mail notification ether but I just went and looked the day after the ship date was announced and I guess I lucked out now I have to pray I have the money available the day they want to ship it
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I'm not sure how I qualified, but looks like I also got my pi/2 discount, making it $249.99 total. Here is a summarky of my order. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m148/chriskzoo/wii.jpg
Sorry, low res is b/c I only have MS Paint here at work, lol. -
