- fauxXenophanes, on 10/12/2007, -29/+6Or just buy what you wanted in the first place, a DS !!!
- Thater, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I remember when they finally cracked 2.01... happiest day of my PSP owning life. I never touched my PSP until I got ScummVM on there... now I take it with me everywhere.
I heartily welcome those above 2.80 to their new lives of freedom... just be sure to heed theaceoffire and be very cautious and follow all the directions! Don't be foolish! - Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27"As long as people read the README, nothing awful should happen... Too bad most people ignore it... Reminds me of a trick my high school compsci teacher pulled. She had some update program she needed everyone to run after logging in, so she created a shortcut to it labeled "Counter-strike." - Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Why didn't she put it into the startup folder. Less clever but works 100% of the time.
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Man, I wish I could have forseen this 2 weeks ago when I traded my 2.81 PSP for my brother's 2.71 thinking it was the only way I'd ever play homebrew. Now I have to deal with the scratches he has put on his PSP over the past year.
Whatever, this is a fantastic development in any case.
- Maltby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Awesome. Now everyone can have homebrew!

- ExBuM, on 10/12/2007, -9/+0awesome! i forsee a sony update real soon.. XD
- starguy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+47I don't care what anyone says, PSPs rock, and they just keep getting better and better. And its not just Sony, or the homebrew community, but both. Sony keeps upgrading the firmware, and Dark Alex & Fanjita & the rest of the crew keep cracking it so we can actually use our PSPs to have actually fun with them. I use my PSPs every day. A PSP with 3.02OE-C, a 4gb stick, and CISOs, PS1 games, emutators, homebrew, and apps is just the neatest little personal media device out there. This thing is 3 years old and still holding its own against all the competion.
People who naysay the platform either just hate Sony because of their business practices (I can understand that), or are burnt out on the PSP because they've never run a really, really tricked out PSP with Dark Alex firmware and a decent sized mem stick (like my friend, who downgraded his to 1.5 and a 1gb stick and knew how to run homebrew, but when he saw what I was doing with mine, totally regretted selling it to me).
Anyone want to buy a video ipod? Because mine is getting chunked into the trash. It just can't touch a hacker tricked out PSP.
You go fanjita! Einstein / anarchy-tv.com- crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -34/+6You think the PSP is holding its own against the competition? lol.
Please check the units sold stats on that one for me. - Protoss, on 10/12/2007, -26/+2You're selling your iPod? So what, you've got
- JrGhoull, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14@ crq
do yourself a favor and make sure you think before you speak...hes not saying that the psp is selling better than the ds...he's saying that for him personally the psp is better than the ds. - vhold, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"You think the PSP is holding its own against the competition? lol."
Ok. http://vgcharts.org/
20 million sold? Not bad. Looks like it's doing particularly well in America. - spyyder, on 10/12/2007, -13/+3if the unit is worthless without homebrew then it is worthless all together. As you so eloquently stated, you have NO use for a PSP without the homebrew scene. You don't need to come on here to justify you purchase. We already knew the psp can't do much with out hacks.
- Gir53457, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3The PSP is worthless without the games.
- DagMX, on 10/12/2007, -8/+0the psp is a failure for what it was meant to do. the games are crap imo(The only ones i really like are lumines and the gta games cus they're not just direct ports). the only reason i still have my psp is cus of those games and homebrew, but for what its meant for, the ds is infinitely better.
and if your comparing a modified psp to an ipod video, atleast compare it to one which is running rockbox or podzilla. the psp would still win in terms of homebrew, but again comparing music to music terms, the ipod would win.
the psp fails at everything it was meant to do. if it werent for guys managing to find ways to modify it, it would have fizzled out much much faster
- crgnetworks, on 10/12/2007, -34/+6You think the PSP is holding its own against the competition? lol.
- Tripacer99, on 10/12/2007, -39/+0OMGWTFBBQ YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY, THANK YOU!!!!

I mean, Devhook was the emulation of a downgrader, but this... the holy grail... O_O
- mentat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, DevHook virtualized firmwares. It ran them off of a MemoryStick instead of the internal Flash Memory. Plus, this usually only worked one way. Most of the time, no one would ever need to emulate BELOW their firmware version, and DevHook never actually emulated anything (it virtualized it)
- dumpstergames, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Not really any need for the mod chip now!
Link - http://digg.com/gaming_news/New_PSP_modchip_coming_soon - whatyousay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5but dont "You need a copy of the unpatched GTA:Liberty City Stories UMD"---from site
- tigerjk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5a very good day for anyone that owns a psp that had anything above 2.80.
come join the homebrewed goodness. - mets91, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3seriously , who uses a PSP anymore. I got one and its been eating dust for the past year.
- robosocks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Mine got stolen. You want to sell it?
- docbaily, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Try using this custom firmware and see what you think. I wasn't too happy with my PSP until I started hacking it. Now that it's hacked its well worth the money.
- Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well then, give it away. U missed some neat games last year and hell I hear FF: Tactics is coming this year to Japan (hopefully make it to US as well). Oldie but a goodie and never got to play original :P. Plus there are many more :D
- MaxPayne3476, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I have to agree, it was a neat device for a week, then it just started collecting dust. Granted, I don't always have time for portable gaming, but I wish I had more of an incentive to use it!
- eightballx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Woooot, but we all knew this was coming after the 3.03 goofy proof-of-concept exploit, amirite?
- WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it hard to play PSP ISO's? (Once I downgrade..)
Also, what other basic Homebrew apps are common that everyone pretty much uses?
Thanks again, - mentat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's not hard. Just create the eBoot and run. And it's considered bad form to reply to a comment with a question that has nothing to do with the original comment.
- WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it hard to play PSP ISO's? (Once I downgrade..)
- Damion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@WhyNotFab
upgrade to 3.03oe-c there is no reason to stay at 1.50.
This downgrader works but be warned it can brick (as with any DG) so take it slow and pace yourself with the readme.
Thank you fanjita, noobs and Dark_Alex :) - diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7"Noobz have released a downgrader for ALL SONY PSPs"
Honest-to-God. I thought the submitter was referring to Sony. - Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Burry, placed on wrong place
- pakkman781, on 10/12/2007, -10/+6LOL, when I opened this in the browser, the number of diggs was 303. Downgrader for 3.03, 303 diggs :)
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2More diggs now. Pics or it didn't happen.
- Firehed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Big deal. "Gandpa dies 31 times in one day - lives to tell about it." - I've got a screenie where it had 911 diggs. He later died of the irony ;)
- SomaliWarLord, on 10/12/2007, -15/+1i had a psp got bored sold it, got another got bored sold it, got an ipod got bored sold it.. i only used it for its wifi caps.. since we have wifi at school,work,home... and homebrew.. but i look like a little kid playing that thing and i didnt wanna get ragged on.. im 19 btw.
- PathDaemon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Just use your seemingly-infinite spending ability to buy a modkit and make that shiny black piece of hotness more "grown up-looking".
- Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6*sigh* you kids and trying to "look" mature. I'm 24 and I'm always playing if I have time to kill in between classes w/o homework, or on breaks at work.
- diggfinity, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3A few years ago I was playing my GBA in public [maybe 20yo at the time] and some guy came up to me saying "Hey, is that thing YOURS?".....I laughed and said no.
/shame - oknothing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5you probably need a new haircut
- Purist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I'm 32, and I love my PSP. Gives me a break on the way to work.
- 0olong, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3My wife and I were waiting to get an ultrasound in the hospital, so I had my PSP with me (i'm 34) some guy was playing Brain Age on his DS and stopped playing to watch me play and ask me about the system. He says he's buying one now... "For his kid."
For some, the DS is a good system, for others it's the PSP. None of you naysayers are qualified to say which is better for any other person but yourself. I personally would never pick up a DS. I'm more inclined to download damn near every game for every gameboy on the market (except the DS) and play it on my PSP. - zionad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1haha, my wife was waiting on some results (at the hospital) and we were going to be there a while so we broke out our SP's and started playing games. Now we both use DS's.
- SpecEpic06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2hey could someone post a website or reply on how to play ps1 iso's mainly FFVII (I have the original) after installing the 3.03e-C update, and what the Dark Alex firmware encompasses? thanks in advance
- mentat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tons of tutorials. Use Google, smart one. Plus, the PSP's PSX emulator isn't 100% compatible. FFVII hangs between disc 1 and 2, and FFVIII will crash your PSP if you try and use "Scan" when you first leave the Garden. Google for more information (as far as I can tell, FFT runs well, as does FFIX)
- agraham208, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7That means we get another security fix update! Here come 3.04! Can't wait.
- Purist, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1This is just awesome. So many of my friends upgraded to play MGS:PO and other titles that required an upgrade. I've enjoyed my system ever since its launch, and discuss it everyday at The PSP Nation's forum.
http://thepspnation.com/forum/index.php - dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1What if you do not have a copy of GTA:VC :(
- agraham208, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Then use GTA LCS, which is what you are supposed to use.
- mentat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...You buy or borrow a copy of the CORRECT game. Seriously, how do you think we cracked the XBox? We rented or purchased or borrowed a copy of MechAssault (I suppose it helped that the game was only $5...)
- brokoli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2can't wait for the 3.04 update from sony! so I can upgrade and cry like a baby!!!!
- PSPon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I will pwn you.. sometime.. (sony) maybe when we play the game
- Wraggster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Heres another mirror of the downgrader and discussion threads:

Great work Fanjita as Usual from all at the DCEmu Homebrew Network - EnSvensk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Huh, it worked, but I can't seem to get my old network connections back, even using NetConfigBackup. Hmm.... Oh well, its a small price to pay for downgrading.
- PhantomJM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It worked great! Time for some homebrew.
- Jackosx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1what's the x.yz update???
- DagMX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's how the 3.03 HEN initiates the 1.5 update
- mrmcgoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Mwhaha, I knew this was coming so last week I put up my recently acquired copy of the original LCS on ebay. Made a killing :)
- WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2So.. no internet on our PSP if we downgrade? :( I use it more for checking email and other sites than I would for playing games anyway.. my UMD drive is messed up so I need to downgrade, to be able to play ISOs, but I guess I gotta choose between games/internet now?
- kilodelta, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1someone actually uses the psp web browser? colour me surprised.
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Just install Dark_AleX's 3.03 OE-C... It's has all the features of the Sony 3.03 update, plus you can run homebrew, isos (direct from XMB), and load ANY PSX game... And yes, you will still have the browser...
- FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you install 3.03 OE-C, you lose the LocationFree player. So no, it's not *all* the features of 3.03.
- bmarko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1sweet. f sony.
- WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Is PSP Blender a Scam? It says they have games that work with ALL firmware versions, and full movies/software downloads from their site.. but I read that they are lying, and they just supply links to other places where we could get all of the same stuff for free..
Costs $37 too.. so I dunno. I'd like to put some games/movies/software on my PSP after downgrading, (if I can keep WiFi)
Where do all of you get your PSP ISOs/Movies/Software?- Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Short Answer: Yes
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3YES, IT'S A SCAM!
Any google ad promising free anything is a scam... psp isos??? why its very easy... in fact most of the time you can add the two words together (psp+iso) and just add a .com and get something... in this case a non-spam site.... Catch my drift?
- angrynori, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It works for me.
This is incredible!
Thanks for the tip! - WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Thanks for the heads up on the scam :)
Now I just gotta be sure my internet will work if I downgrade.. if so, I'll do it. What's the best site for PSP Downloads?- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2google.com
enter PSP Iso
I usually find google to deliever the best results when I hit "I'm Feeling Lucky"
- dagger89, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2google.com
- WhyNotFab, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Can I Play A mp4 Movie on my 3.03 PSP?
- PunkRampant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes, and if you've got the custom 3.03 OE-C you can also play videos at full 480x272 resolution. That's another neat thing the custom firmware can unlock.
- ucbmckee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Any estimates on when/if this will be possible without GTA LCS?
- FreePlayPSP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Whenever you decide to find an exploit that doesn't use it. I doubt anyone will be looking until the next firmware comes out.
- fernyb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1***** YEAH! this ***** works!
- jacenat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2now i just need an old gta:lcs ...
- TECHBUZZARD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0ONE WORD WICKED
Now i can use my PSP to control my XBOX 360 i bought yesterday :)
I can't wait since i saw this on youtube :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SejAeDLoFM - wafflez, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lol i'm so happy, I sold my 1.5 psp (only the psp, nothing else, not even the 32mb stick) for $270 like 3 months back.
- Garay002, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What can be currently done with PSP homebrew?
Does it emulate PSone and SNES games perfectly? If so, I may have to get one :D- Thorandor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apart from your need to play your (maybe pirated) copies of non-PSP games (including SNES, NEW,MegaDrive, GBA) homebrew can also be used to people to write their own games (like PVP Pong for example), or applications like 'Map This!'
I just hope that noobz release a cleaner soon in the event that the files still residing in the memory should cause any problems
- Thorandor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Apart from your need to play your (maybe pirated) copies of non-PSP games (including SNES, NEW,MegaDrive, GBA) homebrew can also be used to people to write their own games (like PVP Pong for example), or applications like 'Map This!'

- andrewtr89, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Great Work Noobz Team. Been a fan of your work since eLoader and the Original 2.6 GTA: LCS Exploit! Theres also an article on PSPCube incase noobz.eu goes down:
