- thedragon4453, on 07/08/2008, -0/+104I sincerely hope that blizzard maintains itself as a basically separate entity with complete creative control.
- thaskizz, on 07/08/2008, -1/+77Blacktivision sounds the best to me.
- mctom987, on 07/08/2008, -2/+65Activision Blizzard; sounds like a terrible name.
- Persian5Life, on 07/09/2008, -0/+57Take that EA.
- badwithcomputer, on 07/08/2008, -0/+46mctom987 has such a ring to it...
- zdiddy85, on 07/08/2008, -1/+41I refuse to call them that.
BLIZZARD FOR LIFE! - admdrew, on 07/08/2008, -0/+34Better than Actizzard.
Actually, Actizzard sounds like some badass Japanese monster. - Spoonicus, on 07/08/2008, -0/+26If Vivendi owns 52% of Activision doesn't that mean Vivendi owns Activision?
Did i read that wrong? - KMartSheriff, on 07/09/2008, -0/+26Something not owned by EA? My God...
- KMartSheriff, on 07/09/2008, -0/+23If they value Blizzard at all, they will.
- tcasey22, on 07/09/2008, -0/+20That's a mind *****.
- ChrisConrow, on 07/09/2008, -2/+21I for one welcome our new gaming overloards
- DynamiteMonkey, on 07/09/2008, -1/+20ACTIVIZZARD. No contest.
- nyx210, on 07/09/2008, -0/+19Blactivizzard.
- Shuk, on 07/09/2008, -1/+18No need to overreact people, this merger is fine. In fact, the point of any game company merger is for monetary purposes only. EA is the only company that actually gets involved in the development process and places pressure on developers to do things their way. EA is the one that tells developers to rush their games in time for certain seasons. EA is the one that decides to put SecuROM or ads in games.
The Blizzard president has already stated that this in no way affects their development process. The guys at Blizzard are known for their integrity in making good games and releasing them when they are ready. - capstinence, on 07/08/2008, -1/+15Let the apocalypse begin... :(
- t3hmyth, on 07/08/2008, -0/+14I like "Blizzactivision" better.
- Grandpohbah, on 07/09/2008, -1/+15I wonder if they going to port World of Warcraft to my atari 2600 now?
- Spoonicus, on 07/08/2008, -1/+14Its SIMPLE... "BLIZZVISION"
- phatalbert, on 07/09/2008, -0/+13That is how it will happen. Blizzard has always maintained itself as a separate unit even after they were bought by Vivendi. Vivendi games DOES have other properties like Sierra, it's just Blizzard is more or less the only valuable one.
- DesdinovaEL, on 07/09/2008, -0/+12Actilizzard? Blizzavision? Id just stick with Blizzard. They have the highest pedigree.
- eLau, on 07/09/2008, -0/+11World of Guitar Heroes
- pjsmike, on 07/09/2008, -3/+13Somtimes 1+1 doesnt exactly equate 2.
- Tyrghast, on 07/09/2008, -1/+10They should change the name to Actilizzard or Blactivision.
- SimonTB, on 07/08/2008, -1/+10Blizztivision, *****.
- ChileanGoD, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8Actizzard... I choose youuu!.
.........can't believe i said that... - wexmajor, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8Isn't Blizzard like richer than God at this point? Why are they merging with anyone?
- phaseblue, on 07/09/2008, -0/+8"WTF, activiblizz totally nerfed my class."
- TsuruchiBrian, on 07/09/2008, -1/+8That sounds like the ability to see if people are Blackulas.
- plnegative1, on 07/09/2008, -0/+7GOD DAMNIT NO. PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. NO
- gfxlonghorn, on 07/08/2008, -2/+9No?.. Blizzard is notoriously particular on how they develop their games. If anybody threatened that process, the merger wouldn't have even been an option. If they are going to bring D3 to the console, it would be of their own choosing. And to be perfectly honest, diablo 2 on the consoles was a stupid idea to begin with. It is meant to be a point and click rpg, and a console version ruins it. Plus the diablo series is successful because of its multiplayer, and since they can't bring bnet onto a console, it won't happen.
- NerveBand, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6I was a bit confused by the article. Part of the article kept on saying how Blizzard would become a subsidary of Activision. But Viviendi still remains in control of the company with a 52% share. Does this make Viviendi the head honcho? What does it mean as a subsidary of Activision if Viviendi is in control?
- inactive, on 07/09/2008, -0/+6 *****! I was about to post that, well played.
- masgaster, on 07/09/2008, -1/+7It's going to be weird not seeing the blizzard splashscreen on SC2 and DIII
- tonaros, on 07/08/2008, -3/+9WHAT???
- keithburgun, on 07/09/2008, -1/+6Wexmajor, it's called Greed. And anyone who thinks that this merger will be *good* for the future of Blizzard is fooling themselves. Blizzard hit their high already and are now on the way back down, sad to say it.
- Tigergrape, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5So, let me get this straight..
Activision are now under Vivendi? Because they already have under their umbrella:
Blizzard
Sierra
Sierra ONLINE
Vivendi Games Mobile
"Vivendi Games develops, publishes and distributes multi-platform interactive entertainment. The world leader* in subscription-based, massively-multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) through its Blizzard Entertainment division, Vivendi Games also operates on the PC, console and handheld markets via its Sierra Entertainment subsidiary. It entered the casual online and mobile gaming segments via Sierra Online and Vivendi Games Mobile.
On December 2, 2007, Vivendi Games announced plans to create Activision Blizzard. Subject to the approval by Activision’s shareholders and regulatory authorization, this agreement will lead to the creation of a world leader in interactive entertainment."
THE ABOVE QUOTE IS TAKEN FROM THAT LINK.

- feanix, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5I prefer Blizzivison
- Scopitone, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5How about an app that just accesses the Auction House?
- feanix, on 07/09/2008, -0/+5Didn't you get the memo?
- bigbadgoat, on 07/08/2008, -1/+6Right, because the developers are the shareholders?
- Uaedaien, on 07/09/2008, -3/+7Can't think of anything worse. How is Activision the parent company if Vivendi owns Blizzard Activision and Sierra?
- tuntcickle, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4I'm going to have to give that a BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
- letelenny, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Vivendi Games is owned by Activision, but Activision is owned by Vivendi SA, which owned Vivendi Games
- Morfine, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4worst company name ever, if you find one thats even worse, just post for all too enjoy
- AndruC, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5Square Enix?
- stretch611, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4I sincerely hope that Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 make it out the door before any of Activision's influence makes it in.
- Aorawn, on 07/09/2008, -0/+4Activision are generally very kind to the PC, unlike some companies (I'm looking at you, Ubi). They try to, you know, actually keep the PC in mind when developing the PC version instead of focusing on the console version and having the PC as an after-after-thought.
- Dude622, on 07/09/2008, -1/+5Why not Blactivision?
