- rcubed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm... Reminds me of Comcast.
- CableCarrier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Oh no, Rupert Murdoch's gonna control the world.
- CronicusX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hmmm
Digg This - larrabee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I love IGN. This pisses me off. Im even an insider. That is alot "800 Million" thats a nice chunk of change.
- Smarterdanu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Giant media corporations just seems like a bad idea....
oh well - ncaa76, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow!
That's was totally unexpected...and $800M?? - 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Your bases are belong to Fox News. Can you feel you mind rotting already?
- alexhhhh, on 11/28/2008, -3/+0***** Fox. That's the last time I visit IGN.
- andrewr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OH NOES THEY WILL MAKE IT LIEK FOX ANTI LIBERAL SITE!! AHH
get real kids, just a change of ownership - avenger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...PS: I cant believe IGN was worth 800 million dollars..."
WOW.. that's a lot. I don't beleive it either. - reaver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh no, IGN owns rotten tomatoes! That site has just gone to hell.
- dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0well, i'm sure ign has a pretty large army of staff and a couple offices, not to mention the servers which they probably pay about $250,000 a month for for people to look over the servers, internet connection, and whatever else. Plus, look at how many people are subscribed to ign ($$$).
- ellingswin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"...PS: I cant believe IGN was worth 800 million dollars..."
Since when did digg posts become friendly letters - limpingjaret, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0gamespot > ign :P
- tanxadillo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Holy crap! People visit IGN?
"OH NOES THEY WILL MAKE IT LIEK FOX ANTI LIBERAL SITE!! AHH"
I doubt even Fox can put political propaganda inside a video game site. All they video game sites do is... well video games. - dude3609, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'm seeing alot more stuff about "movies" rather then games on ign. I'm not sure whether to choose gamespot, or ign anymore. :( used to be ign, but now, i dont know. FOX is gay.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oh ***** this *****, its not like IGN was good, it stopped being good liek four years ago. Guess Gamefaqs will do.
- Matrixsjd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0IGN sucks, too many stupid a** ads, seriously, it's useless anyway.
- fastfood15, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i agree, huge media corporations are bad. they need to be broken up, like ea and NBC
- KriLL3.2™, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gheispy Gheispot IGheiN See the pattern here? Yes they all suck. :P
- Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So far they've managed to own all the crappy networks at websites. I don't care (yet.)
- Ruckgesicht, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0*and
- CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I think government owned and or sponsored media is more dangerous than media conglomerates. e.g. PBS and NPR, CBC, BBC, et. al.
- Mongoose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha. Another thing to boycott.
- prax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0IGN has been crap since day one. I used to run an affiliate site back in the day. worst. mistake. ever. They regularly stole content and ideas from us while patting us on the back and talking us up big. Minute I walked away from them was the minute I had my soul back and it was all good from there on. We proved we could hold our readership (and even grow!) without them. So what'd they do? They tried to push us over our monthly bandwidth using all sorts of dirty tricks. IGN? Fnck 'em!
- kfstickman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Not that we liked them anyway. Wow Fox seems to be acquiring a lot of crap lately. First myspace now this.
- Gillz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0uggg.....more good stuff gets bought by crap.
I miss TechTv :( - Nation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it is like the radio business ... it goes in cycles, a company will buy up a bunch of stations for a while then sell them off. Same thing happens in TV and now webmedia
- SuperRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now Matt Cassamassina can afford to get _really_ stoned, as opposed to his usual _moderately_ stoned.
- jburchel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah! Fox ROCKS! Go Fox!! :)
Fox News Network is putting CNNABCNBCCBSMSNBCCNBC out of business, and loving every minute of it!!
And 24 kicks ass too. Thank goodness for Fox, finally some fresh air in the room! - mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"I think government owned and or sponsored media is more dangerous than media conglomerates. e.g. PBS and NPR, CBC, BBC, et. al."
Not really FOX single-handedly spreads more ***** and bias than all those other combined. GOD I HATE BILL O'REILLY - tooasianguys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think I stopped going to IGN when I realized that I can't jump between links without being bombarded with ads.
- suMMx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thats a lot of money
- Laurent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Is it official? They make it sound like FOX was having an opportunity, but no substantial deal as been made...
- smafty, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those who wonder how IGN can be worth $800 million, that price includes all of the sites owned by IGN Entertainment. That includes FilePlanet, Rotten Tomotoes, 3D Gamers, etc.
http://corp.ign.com/ - Dan005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For all of you bitching about IGN's ads. IGN insider. Its only 14$ a year, and well worth it.
- TechnoPops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So, uhhh... where exactly does it say Fox has actually BOUGHT them? The article blurb itself seems to be just speculation, making the title and content of this submission misleading. Would it surprise me if News Corp. bought them? No, but I don't see anything that says they've actually done it either.
- Demagogue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GameFAQs is better anyway, and its owned by Cnet now.
- TechnoPops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Or if you prefer... what Laurent said. :P
- wisewaif, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow, I've been an IGN insider member from day 1. And I've been following their sites since the N64 days. I just cancelled my membership. It will run out in two months. I'm not going to support Murdoch for anything,
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0It won't be if FOX buys IGN, I'm not sending them my money. Anybody who works at or for FOX is a WHORE. And If I'm going to deal with a whore I'd rather they put out.
- Mman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wait, TechTV a live television channel is only worth $300 mil while IGN a gaming website is worth $800 mil? WTF?
- TetrisKid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah waaaaaaay over valued
- CowboyBebop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't worry mushoo, O'Reilly hates you too!
- lollerskates, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's alright, guys, most serious gamers don't take IGN seriously, and Rupert Murdoch is really damn old. He'll die soon.
- SirThom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$800 million??? Oh my!! =)
I'm glad it's in good hands, at least. - PhantomOSX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You can't spell "ignorant" without "IGN".
- tobsterius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What, you're shocked that IGN is worth 800 million? look at all the ads on the damn site... :)
- Hybrid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"For all of you bitching about IGN's ads. IGN insider. Its only 14$ a year, and well worth it."
Gamespot Gold is only $5 a year. Why waste another $10 on something 1/2 as good? - Aeiri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't understand why people associate Fox with "conservative right wing nuts". Fox NEWS may be exactly that, but if you ever watch Fox, it's exactly the type of stuff Fox News wants banned from the world. Ironic, really.
