- kanningt, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24Oh Gizmodo, how I love thee. I am disappointed that no widescreen iPod was announced during halftime, you know, for those of us that don't want a new phone, just an iPod...
- dpcdomino, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3I was waiting on the announcement also. So let down. But then again I never thought they would announce a new iPod before the iPhone release. Apple will get some itchy pocketbooks to open with the iPhone from people who want a "new" iPod and do not realize that this is not it.
Personally my favorite commercial was the Kevin Garnet Footlocker commercial. "Man...my new shoes!!!" - skydivingdutch, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15What i wanna know is: where is the garmin commercial? that one was by far the best!
- dpcamp, on 10/12/2007, -7/+22widescreen iPod?!! why is it I can't even go to a football related subject on digg without someone talking about a ***** apple product?!
im not bitter... - ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I thought the Garmin ad was pretty lame. I really liked the RollinVIP and Rock, Paper, Scissors ads.
I watched them on YouTube's SuperVote page, and I didn't even see the Blockbuster, "What else haven't I done", or IZOD commercials.
- Spazkake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Everything was cool, but the "funniest ad" didn't even make me chuckle. It seemed like any regular ad.
- Chewie67, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7Yeah, I've got to say that most were pretty lame this year. Nothing jumps out as Really good.
- gallagherFTW, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23where the hell is the Maposaurus vs. GPS Power Ranger commercial on this list??? you need to watch:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kxrj3OQcXJY - MichaelDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11@gallagherFTW
Not Power Ranger, UltraMan! Yes that was probably my favourite commercial.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraman
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultra_Series - kevx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Better quality ads are hosted on AOL:
http://sports.aol.com/nfl/superbowlads - leprix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Everything was cool, but the "funniest ad" didn't even make me chuckle. It seemed like any regular ad."
the list wasn't of funniest ads....it said, "best overall ad" above the coke one. and i agree with them.
- GawtMilk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+33That coke GTA ad was one of the best ads I've ever seen.
- laddr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+15For half a second I thought it was a surprise ad for GTA4
- zapco03, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The old one where the guy was doing a bunch of nice things for people? That commercial was old. Didn't it come out during last years superbowl.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8FYI: here's all the commercials --> http://www.ifilm.com/superbowl
- LordJezo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Can you even count that as a Superbowl ad? It wasn't even new, it's been playing on other channels (or before movies?) for a really long time.
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That ad has been playing in movie theaters four what seems like about a year. It might have been a lot more meaningful if it had come out during the actual GTA craze.
LordJezo beat me by a few seconds. - leejae, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Uhh isn't that coke ad old? I've seen it before the Super Bowl.
- lava, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I'm really disappointed with coca-cola this year. The two commercials they had were recycled. The vending machine one was from last year's superbowl wasn't it?
- op12, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Youtube's doing a pretty cool user-vote on all the ads (they have them all on their site):
http://youtube.com/superbowl - astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Good commercial, but I wonder why Coke decided to recycle it.
And a bit more trivia for you who enjoyed this commercial, the song is "You Give A Little Love, and It All Comes Back
to You" it was written by Paul Williams for the 1976 movie "Bugsy Malone" (staring Scott Baio and Jodie Foster) as
kid gangsters with cream puff tommy guns. - UltraNurd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The two coke ads are visually interesting; I should have kept the HD recording and looked for funny stuff in the background. I had seen both at Loews theaters sometime in the last year.
- jpeisen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0The Coke GTA was old, as was the Coke "Happiness Factory" ad. The latter was definitely from the Superbowl XL. Not sure about the GTA ad, but saw it a week or two back at least.
- kozmo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+27What no mention of the Rock, Paper, Scissors commercial by Budweiser?. Funny, definitely funny.
- se7en11, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I agree. That was one of only about 4 that I thought was truly funny.
- Rosco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Rock Paper Scissors, Face Slap and the Robert Goulet ads were my favorites. The Coke Happiness Factory was really cool though.
- dcode, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I agree, they should have mentioned rock, paper, scissors. Budweiser as usual had the most variety of ads this year, and only the crab commercial was mentioned.
- Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I think the "but he has a chainsaw!" one was almost better than the face slap
- webmacster87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I liked the talking lions. :)
- dcode, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I liked the talking gorillas. The one was planning to steal the bud lite from the delivery guy, and the other gorilla who wasn't listening because he only wanted his photo taken from the tourist.
- fuxjoey, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2good job, cuz i missed the whole thing.
- cugar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20no beard comb over? come on.
- dcode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was good!
- GoodGod, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12did digg layout changed?
- nene7070, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2huh?
use English much? (unless its ur second language... in which case... sorry!) - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yep and I don't like it!
- nene7070, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2huh?
- kafraco, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The "fist pound is out" commercial had me laughing for a good two minutes.
- PatrickDonohue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13The 'fist pound is out' ad was pretty good but it's going to inevitably translate into frat-tastic douchebags smacking each other across the face in sports bars... stay tuned for the news story of a brawl that starts when two drunken men start slapping random strangers in a bar across the face...
- PatrickDonohue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The rock, paper, scissors Bud Light ad was far and away the funniest ad of the night. I think one of the ad that is being overlooked is the Doritos ad that followed the R,P,S Bud Light ad in the first quarter. I thought it was very funny. The best overall ad of the night was the Coke Happiness Factory ad? Really.... I'd seen that ad and the Grand Theft Auto ad playing before movies.. they're decent.. the GTA ad is better.
- almightystoph, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1OK this is dumb, they've nominated just about every commercial there was (except for the great Bud commercials). What kind of contest is this?
- PatrickDonohue, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23Did anyone else, dare I say it, think that the GoDaddy ad was totally lame? I'm sure it was fun to shoot for Kevin and Alex but I thought it was a lame ad.. it aired.. three times, I think, during the course of the game. Once was enough for me.
- argonaut99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yes, lame lame lame, and the first brunette in the shot was kind of a butter-face
- szmigiel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yes very lame
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed, very lame, trying to keep the hot chicks from their premier Super Bowl commercial years ago. Go Daddy has Gone.
- Pimpalicious316, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2perhaps it is just me and/or my cable box, but did most of the careerbuilder ads have some jacked up sound? could only hear the music in them and the voices were barely audible.
- technomom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, you weren't the only one. I thought that the sound basically killed those commercials. I didn't even understand WTF they were trying to do until the second spot because the dialog was so garbled. By then it wasn't really funny. If you have to spend half the commercial explaining what the commercial is, then it doesn't work.
The best commercials are the ones with little dialog and a short, sweet message. The two gorillas in the Bud Light commercial were funny as was the "Connectile Dysfunction" one. The Coke ads ran too long even though they showed some imagination.
- technomom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No, you weren't the only one. I thought that the sound basically killed those commercials. - Pinny, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1I had some very different ideas about the "quality" ads...
http://www.pinnycohen.com/2007/02/05/ad-reviews/super-bowl-ad-review-2007/ - spd998, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2It seems like americans care more about the ads than the so called "football" which isn't football.
- PatrickDonohue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I care far more about the football but it's the one game during the course of the season where I don't turn the channel during TV timeouts.
- dustbin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Spot on. If it was real football, there would be no commercials during game play.
- mutatron, on 10/12/2007, -5/+10Get this straight: there's soccer and then there's football. What you people play is not football, it's soccer.
- republick, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Whatever you want to call it, at least it doesnt take 10 hours to play a game with a 1-1 score and a tie at the end. Soccer is boring, admit it. Go drink your tea and crumpets you ***** wanker.
- argonaut99, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I get the feeling these reviewers didn't get the joke in the beer stealing crab commercial. Their comments are:
"These crabs, looking like they've already been boiled and ready-to-eat, bow and worship a cooler full of Budweiser. Odd."
Sounds like they didn't even realize the cooler full of Bud actually looked like a fiddler crab (at least to the crabs). I'm not saying it was the funniest, but it was quite clever...I definitely used the Tivo to go back and watch again. - roberto_deneero, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9The only funny ad the entire SuperBowl was the amateur created ad for Dorritos, the guy in the car checking out the girl on the sidewalk. That was GREAT! Otherwise, they were lame. Blockbuster is just stupid. Go away. Your freakin stupid animal commercials are NOT funny, NOT cute, NOT effective - just stupid. The Snickers ad was just gay. That was wrong. The Budweiser dog w/ mud spots was ok but they took WAY too long to get to the point. They could have told the same story in half the time and made it impact much better.
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I whole heatedly agree. The Doritos commercial was the only one that actually had me laughing out loud. I was surprised to find out it was made by a fan.
Did the people who made it win some sort of cash prize or a job?
- brufleth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I whole heatedly agree. The Doritos commercial was the only one that actually had me laughing out loud. I was surprised to find out it was made by a fan.
- Egotrippin, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3The Snickers Commercial with the two mechanics was pretty funny. That's about it.
- tcquad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4That Snickers ad confused me. The two guys kiss ala Lady and the Tramp, get freaked out and decide to do something manly to make up for it. So they rip off their shirts and start manscaping? How did that help?
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Funny at first, but went in the lame pile after they ripped off their chest hairs. What was Snickers thinking... they're writers must have fell asleep after writing the opening of it and woke up confused.
- dcode, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When the little guy said to do something manly, the big guy should have knocked him out for causing the whole situation.
- dvfreelancer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I liked the mouse ad, the Bud Light ax murderer and the Robert Goulet will mess with your stuff. Those were the stand outs in an otherwise dismal year for Superbowl ads.
GoDaddy totally sucked and I'll never eat another Snickers bar, ever.
FedEx moon ad was boring. The one ad they did I really liked only aired a couple times. It was the slimy alien in a really bad human costume that could only say "Let's go with FedEx!" Two guys come in and say they know he's an alien and are going to rat him out. "Let's go with FedEx!" It's one of their best ever. Aired once or twice, haven't seen it since. Not even on those shows celebrating Superbowl ads from years past. Another gem that never seems to turn up on the commercial review shows are the eTrade ads with the dancing monkey. At the end it says "We just blew 2 million bucks. What are you doing with your money?" Classic. - MichaelDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The lack of gravity on the moon in the FedEx ad had me ranting at the TV. My wife thought I was nuts. Of course I went even crazier once they walked OUTSIDE their office and finally discovered gravity....then I was confused.
The effect was mildly amusing though...if the office was orbiting the moon it would have made sense. - BIGmog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why weren't there any Pepsi ads during the Super Bowl?
- MichaelDotNet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2There were. There were two Sierra Mist ads, which is owned by.....Pepsi-Co.
- Ramrodicus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sierra Mist = Pepsi product
- CheezIt9109, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Personally, I think the commercials and their ranks on YouTube demonstrate how utterly dismal the average American sense of humor has become.
With the exception of Robert Goulet, The Garmin commercial, and the Federline bit. - szmigiel, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I guess I am the only one that enjoyed the Garmin-man Vs Map Monster ad.
- mt066, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2the music was great in that one
- beingjohnm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1The bald guy in the front row of the Carlos Mencia Bud Light commercial (http://www.ifilm.com/video/2819689/collection/18373/minisite/superbowl) is the lead in a movie that I wrote and produced (http://www.clearlyambiguousfilm.com). I missed the commercial but my old roommate called me about it. Couldn't find it on the official ads site at cbs.sportsline.com either.
- ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The Carlos Mencia ad is on youtube's supervote page:
http://youtube.com/superbowl
- ldkronos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3The Carlos Mencia ad is on youtube's supervote page:
- TherealObadiah, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Okay, that Snickers ad was disturbing on so many levels. That was bad.
- mutatron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Superbowl ads were universally bad this year, except for the few that weren't particularly Superbowlish. People were trying really hard at proven formulas, but nobody had the cleverness or the insight to pull it off. You could pretty much tell they all _thought_ they were clever and insightful, though, and that they were all glad-handing each other for a job well done.
- DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3You know the game was okay and the commercials were hit or miss but I think Prince stole the show. He rocked haltime hard and, for better or for worse, was probably the most entertaining thing on last night.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes... along with the GTA Coke Commercial... that was about the only amusement besides the game last night.
- jpop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I thought he did a pretty good job considering that he was doing it in a downpour... I don't care for his music, but the show was certainly better than that lowpoint a few years ago...
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yes... along with the GTA Coke Commercial... that was about the only amusement besides the game last night.
- DudeRoks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Did anyone else think that the GM robot commercial was in bad taste especially considering the fact that these car companies are laying off people left and right.
- astrotrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes... GM should be smacked with a wet noodle for that one.
- BlueDjinn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Absolutely agree (and living in Michigan, it stings especially hard here).
I understand what the message is *supposed* to be (GM employees are obsessed with perfection), but that's not the message that is delivered, which is basically "If you lose your job at GM, you might as well just kill yourself."
And having the suicidal ex-employee be portrayed by one of the very robots that probably replaced the *previous* generation of GM employees is just salt in the wound.
Not that I'm a huge fan of the UAW, but the ad struck me as being in utterly poor taste. - DudeRoks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@ BlueDjinn
so it wasn't just me. I don't know who taught it will be funny. The marketing department should have exercised better judgment.
- fotd42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zr8hmrxkX0c
This one was hilarious. It was shown only once I think like 30 min before the game so I don't think a lot of people saw it. Me and my friends were laughing our asses off at it. - mt066, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think the best ones are some social situation where someone gets clobbered or injured in some comical way. You might say I'm easily amused, but you can only develop so much background in a 30 second commercial. Too many ads stray from that formula and try to be cute or something, and it just makes me want to throw up. Like that dalmation one where the dog got mud on itself and then everyone was in a fire truck. WTF was even happening there? Not cute.
- jpop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My take on that was that the dog wanted to be with the female dalmation on the truck, but couldn't until the truck splashed it and put spots on it.
Now how that sells whatever it was I don't know...
- jpop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My take on that was that the dog wanted to be with the female dalmation on the truck, but couldn't until the truck splashed it and put spots on it.
- jkilby99, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I submit to you evidence that proves that the defendant, the ad agencies and departments, didn't even try to make a memorable collection of Super Bowl ads this year.
Exhibit A: Old Ads
That Grand Theft Auto-esque Coke ad was pretty good... when I saw it in theaters last summer. More Coke ads were repeats, as were ones from Izod, Schick, and others.
Exhibit B: "Submit Your Ideas" Ads
What do GM, Doritos, the NFL all have in common? They all ran contests to let *YOU* come up with the idea for their Super Bowl commercial. How about they run a contest where *YOU* decide how much to pay for their product?
As you can see, the defendant half-assed it this year. As punishment for their crime, I am asking for the maximum sentence: a firing of all advertising-related employees and the immediate hiring of Time Magazine's 2006 Person of the Year to fill those positions.
Members of the jury: I thank you for your time. - neoq36, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Worst. Super Bowl Ads. Ever!!!!
They were all bad..... - InternetUser, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Jesus ***** jones .. this is so pathetically cringe-worthy. Getting excited by companies advertising their products on TV? Only in America.. Wow, what a great American institution; the annual Superbowl tv marketing campaigns! Laughable if it wasn't so tragic. Get some culture?
- my10cent, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Hear Hear
- robsshadow330, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Here is a torrent of all the commercials with halftime show http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3611621
- firefoxylady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3My favorite was the Letterman/Oprah promo.
- JohnnyDiggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0I think we're all forgetting the amazing Salesgenie.com ad...
Watch this gem about sales leads, getting the ladies with a new car, and dinner with "the boss" here:
http://sb.salesgenie.com/LandingAdSB.aspx?bas_vendor=68331 - cookdsc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I thought the GM commercial was hilarious. In bad taste? I could kind of see that, but you can pull something negative out of everything if you try
- zmigliozzi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1only thing that was funny was the rock paper scissors bud light... and just godaddys just because kevin and alex were in it.
- jmack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6The Kfed commercial with him rapping, then serving fries was the best. Can't believe that didn't make the list.
- johnnyrocket, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Pretty lame? Without a doubt, this was the WORST year EVER for SB ads. Sorely missing humor, way too much violence ( for no reason but shock value ).
The general theme was disgusting, creepy, or just traditional. - captainpete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The FexEx commercial was retarded, but at least Gob would be proud.
- JasonsRath, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Face Slap was by far the funniest.
I think Chevrolet had the best ones though. Especially the robot one who had a bad dream. - zombiedepot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ads are lame, get a life.
- rohcky, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Superbowl was on? I was busy watching Rome.
- RoroCo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The lions were definately the funniest. But, I guess you have to be in your thirties to truly appreciate Ricardo Montalban humor.
Lion1 - Carrrrne Asada. Say is sexy like Ricardo Montalban
Lion2 - Carne... Ricardo Montalban? - marshallk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Here's 30 of them, all in one player http://splashcastmedia.com/30-super-bowl-commercials-in-1-player
- mallard32, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I Liked the Budweiser Crabs commercial
- stevekerver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...I loved the sad robot ad by GM.
Fortunately, you can still watch it at iFilm.com... - glozycom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0huge collection of videos available on the web
