- earthforce1, on 07/03/2009, -0/+5Absolutely amazing feat for the technology of the time.
- DulcetTone, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4re: going #2 in space
Many (most? all?) Apollo astronauts avoided bowel movements during even an entire moon mission by use of diets aimed at generating little solid throughput and motility-inhibiting drugs. No one looked kindly at the process of dealing with it, or of being the poor guy who would first cross this threshold and incur the collective hit on quality of life in the spacecraft. - DulcetTone, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4He didn't say the J2 was used on the first stage. He said the second stage.
- cerejota, on 07/06/2009, -1/+3Original Moonwalkers, FTW!
- DarkMatter911, on 07/06/2009, -2/+4It is a crying shame that we abandoned the moon after first making it there 40 years ago. Talk about short sighted.
- inigomntoya, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2David Sedaris has a (HYSTERICAL) review of that device.

- BasalCellBossk, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1There was actually a device marketed a few years ago that consisted of a kind of tube strapped to your wedding tackle, with a rubber bag strapped to your leg, you could pee to your heart's content. It was for sporting events spectators I think. I remember it on sites like BoingBoing or such, but a cursory google search doesn't bring it up. (Key words keep bringing up stuff that I am not really wanting to see)
- brim4brim, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Wow there are some jackasses on this thread going on about it being a British space museum.
I'm sure there is one in Germany too, where half the guys that came up with the technology were actually from. Strapping an American to a rocket for good luck and funding.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wernher_von_Braun - anonymousmedic, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1It's called a condom catheter. Nursing home patients who are incontinent use it if they are just urinary incontinent.
- asgardshill, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1Google "Motorman's Friend".
- couldntbthenwho, on 07/06/2009, -0/+1This is awesome
- UrineEngineer, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1"Strange gadgets that powered the Apollo 11 mission"
1. Rocket Engine
2. Laser Mirror
3. Space Diaper
4. Seismic Monitor
None of these were strange and none of these powered anything. - inactive, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1A space museum in London. Talk about irony.
- whipnet, on 07/06/2009, -1/+1This article almost makes you feel like it's from the British moon missions.
/s - BasalCellBossk, on 07/06/2009, -0/+0Stadium Pal! that was it. GJ
- SappAss, on 07/06/2009, -3/+1I hate to be "that guy", but in the first video he says that 5 J2 engines were used on the first stage, and 1 on the third stage. Wrong! The 1st stage used five F1 engines, and were MUCH larger than the J2. The J2 could be stopped and started multiple times as well as being throttled. The F1 was single use only. As a museum curator, you would think he would know that.
