First off, as noted above, it's called a panflute (or panpipes). A mouth organ is more along the lines of a harmonica.

Ok this is the lamest homemade crap story ever. Why would anyone even try to do this from old markers?
And the mouth organ MacGyver forgot to mention, that you should wash these old markers before sticking them to mouth and blow. Old tint in markers is a chemical bomb.

Not to sound like too much of a music geek, but cut each one by 7mm? No wonder it sounds so bad. If you want an actual scale, you have to take the length of the previous pen and multiply that by .056126, and that will tell you the length to cut off. Sometimes you'll have to do that twice to get the whole steps required in non-chromatic scales.
