This is not the droid you are looking for... - FireSlash, on 11/05/2009, -0/+15I knew Verizon offered overnight shipping but wow!
- Azuvic, on 11/05/2009, -2/+16"What in the world is that?!" - Old Rancher
- terrible0ne, on 11/05/2009, -0/+12great.. Freaking michael bay is working for verizon...
- willdelaney, on 11/05/2009, -4/+14Anyone else picking one up in Friday? I am :)
- Mushroomer25, on 11/05/2009, -7/+16Seriosuly Verizon? You've got an awesome phone with loads of features, and you give it HALF OF A SECOND of screen time, while the rest looks like a trailer for a ***** movie about stealth planes?
- AeroZeppelin, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9***** you, oranges are better!
- LimeParrot, on 11/05/2009, -3/+11It's an advertising technique... creates intrigue to make you proactively seek what the product is... note how it says the "drop" date.
- mverta, on 11/05/2009, -1/+9You can have it delivered by Stealth planes, in metal pods pummeling craters into the Earth, or you can go the mall and pick it up with a group of teenagers because it's just a ***** phone.
- theghoul, on 11/05/2009, -5/+12So its a just a smartphone right?
*scratches noodle. - sleepy35758, on 11/05/2009, -1/+8I saw this on TV tonight and thought it was some new movie coming out till they showed the phone in the pod. But the commercial worked cause I'll defiantly remember the phone.
- 15step, on 11/05/2009, -3/+10Apples > Oranges
- 2Pharcyded, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/04/some-more-persp ...
read it and weep.. - SmellyMonkey, on 11/05/2009, -0/+6***** hilarious!
- inactive, on 11/04/2009, -8/+13Awesome viral ad.
- dagamer34, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5At the end, it should have said "DROOOIIIIDDD" That would have been awesome.
- kss42, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5*Confused pause*
This is not the droid we're looking for. - ShoeSh1ne, on 11/05/2009, -0/+5Sorry bro, it has multi-touch.
- Silentgeno, on 11/05/2009, -2/+7Incorrect it does have multi touch support on 3rd party applications just not with the built in apps.
- angrytortilla, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4If it starts growing alien moss and spreading around my house I'll be totally pissed off.
- LuCiFer6, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4LOL Same here...
- FireSlash, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4The phone supports multitouch. Apps in the app store prove this. However, the bundled android applications have their multitouch support disabled, for reasons we've yet to get confirmation on.
speculation is that it's due to apple patents though. - MScrip, on 11/05/2009, -2/+6Viral... yes. People will discussing it for tens of minutes...
Appropriate for a device that's coming out in 3 days... when only tech-blog readers know what it is?
No... - kjones555, on 11/05/2009, -0/+4Not proud of what I did, but I preordered at Best Buys. I hate buying anything from them, but the $100 instant rebate was a what did it.
- FireSlash, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4The Droid is a google experience phone, so no.
I suggest you go to your local verizon store, best buy, etc, and look at their demo. Stores that don't have a real demo will have a "fake" one that's the same thing sans the guts. The feel and construction of the phone is fantastic, it's probably one of the best looking/feeling pda sliders I've seen.
It makes my HTC Titan feel like a cheap toy. - 15step, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4I would expect something of much more significance from a steaming metal capsule that fell from the sky and put a crater in my farmland.
- MScrip, on 11/05/2009, -7/+10Here are Apple's ads for the iPhone launch... simple and extremely effective. "This is your music... this is your e-mail... this is the web... and this is a call... Coming June 29"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6lZMr-ZfoE4
Why would Verizon put out such cryptic ***** that no one understands? Don't they wanna sell phones? Palm Pre ads aren't much better either...
// I know I'll be buried... but look at Apple's iPhone ads and tell me that other cell phone ads do a better job... - DavidYeah, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3So far I know that the Droid has been compared to an iPhone and has also been shot into the ground from the sky. Could they please just show the thing being operated?
- FireSlash, on 11/05/2009, -1/+4Absolutely. Even pre-ordered it. I've been pretty excited about this phone; been mucking around with the dev tools all week.
http://fireslash.net/~fireslash/images/opentyrian_ ... - FireSlash, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Best Buy gets a bit of a kick back from the contract, but most of their profit comes from accessories. Just buy those somewhere else :)
- kjones555, on 11/05/2009, -0/+3Yep, a smartphone....that just might kill me in my sleep. I'm not gonna get that dock for fear that it will be it's weapon of choice.
- MCA2142, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2I agree.
"IT TAKES STEALTH ***** JETS TO KILL THE IPHONE." - glui2001, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3Anyone else think Superman with the phone crashing off a country road and the red pickup driving up to it?
- theuniversal, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3It's almost as good as the last Droid power point presentati .... oops ... I mean ad. You know, the slideshow they spent millions on but still mixed up apostrophes and primes:
http://delgrosso.tumblr.com/post/217631954/droid - LuCiFer6, on 11/05/2009, -2/+4yeah i was feeling the iDon't commercials. But this one, I don't know. It did bring make me bust out laughing tho, so I guess that's a good thing.
- Drizzit, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2That ETF fee is to prevent you from flipping the phone on Ebay for 600 dollars and walking away with 400 free dollars at Verizon's expense.
- cthellis, on 11/05/2009, -0/+2Seems like they reversed the commercials. This one should have been the first out, to make the general user take notice. The "iDon't" should have come later as a viral ad, to spread among the geek community.
And then... you know... commercials that actually show the product should follow. - staulkor, on 11/05/2009, -1/+3The European version has multi touch built in.
- awicks89, on 11/05/2009, -3/+4i wish i was on verizon just so i could get it for the $200 bucks after the rebate
stupid AT&T - charlietree, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1I am so excited about this Droid...
- robojerk, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1U.S. Pre commercials are awful.. I've seen some EU ones and their not so bad.
- chingy1788, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Hmm
As much as I love Android at the moment...
I think Droid is atleast... a bit over hyped
I would rather wait for something that has the Snapdragon Processor from Qualcomm, something that has a better keyboard then the Droid (personally dont like the number keys like that) - MScrip, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Thank you!
I want a DROID too... as I'm already on Verizon. But I wish there was an Android chat client that could talk to Blackberry Messenger contacts... I use BB Messenger every day. - chingy1788, on 11/16/2009, -0/+1Yeah G1s awesome
I picture the... well can't really call it the G2 can we? I think that names been taken...
HTC Dream 2
Being Slimmer, Sleeker, larger screen, the same keyboard layout
Well actually I wouldn't mind it looking exactly the same
If it has a total specs upgrade, that would be epic
Camera, Speaker, Ram, CPU, battery
Mmmm Dream 2... - zer0mass, on 11/05/2009, -0/+1Multitouch is annoying.
- Dylson, on 11/05/2009, -2/+3Too bad everyone knows what it looks like already. It feels like a teaser for the phone.
- thatcat, on 11/05/2009, -1/+2Apple has great marketing no doubt... though I am really enjoying the new Windows Phone ads! They are pretty cool! I even saw that HTC is advertising (their new You campaign) even down here in Louisiana, and that was interesting. I mean most people around campus have no clue what phone I have!
