- poonaka, on 10/13/2009, -7/+728That invention blows!
- sbcea, on 10/13/2009, -3/+540His other inventions suck
- RoroCo, on 10/13/2009, -16/+537For 300 dollars I would rather hire a midget to flow me around with a palm fan.
- MaxxusFlamus, on 10/13/2009, -2/+384That's not 100% true...
there's an impeller in the base. - digitalArtform, on 10/13/2009, -4/+344Amazing! Completely fanless!
(well, except for the hidden fan) - f0dder, on 10/13/2009, -2/+320Video ignores the FAN blowing air through the fanless ring.
- Solkre, on 10/13/2009, -3/+320So it does have a fan, the exhaust is what's special.
- Trock16, on 10/13/2009, -1/+304I am a fan.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 10/13/2009, -0/+253Dugg for flowing midgets.
- absurdist, on 10/13/2009, -19/+218Great. More overpriced crap from Dyson. $300 for a fan?
- MasterQ, on 10/13/2009, -2/+181Well blade, sir.
- SilentBobSC, on 10/13/2009, -0/+175My God, he's gone from Suck to Blow!
- capheine, on 10/13/2009, -1/+169If there's no blades, where the hell am I supposed to stick my tongue when I want to stop the thing?
- MadFlava, on 10/13/2009, -2/+136For $299, that thing better blow more than air.
- Nintendesert, on 10/13/2009, -1/+116"The 10-inch fan is available now starting at $299.99."
For that much I'll deal with my uneven air flow out of my $20 dollar gigantic wally world fan. - TheLotusEater, on 10/13/2009, -0/+107Not only is it not 100% true, it's actually 100% false! It has blades... Duhhh
- Turious, on 10/13/2009, -3/+110When will this be applied to computers? My overclocking habit is getting out of hand, I need new air based technologies to keep this thing cool.
- Awwzm, on 10/13/2009, -2/+105How it works:
http://www.youtube.com/user/dysonteam#p/u/4/gChp0C ... - RoroCo, on 10/13/2009, -1/+101Do you guys have to be so long winded about this topic?
- strictnein, on 10/13/2009, -1/+97@Vyseaurion: You blew that one.
- HaSatan, on 10/13/2009, -2/+96Inventing is a breeze for this guy.
- thcobbs, on 10/13/2009, -1/+85And it has blades... unless they came up with a whole new impeller design.
- doctechnical, on 10/13/2009, -0/+81It gets a tail-wind.
If the cat makes a habit of this, spread some hand-sanitizer around the ring and set it on fire. Video tape cat jumping through ring of fire and share on YouTube. - doctechnical, on 10/13/2009, -2/+82Don't be a blow-hard.
- clipper453, on 10/13/2009, -3/+80Air Amplifiers have been around for many years (see link below). I'm not sure exactly what is new about this invention. The only difference between it and other air amplifiers that I've seen is that the Dyson model uses a built in impeller. Most other air amplifiers just rely on compressed air, typically provided by a shop air compressor.
http://www.exair.com/en-US/Primary%20Navigation/Pr ... - tahseenm, on 10/13/2009, -0/+74@Vyseaurion: You really suck at these jokes don't you?
- geodebug, on 10/13/2009, -1/+69Yeah, they had me till the price. Call me when it is $20-40 at target.
- BubblesTheChimp, on 10/13/2009, -1/+69I WISH midgets were only $20-40 at Target. A guy can only dream.
- mbraynard, on 10/13/2009, -1/+69Can you put your junk in it?
- kanojo1969, on 10/13/2009, -4/+69Hmm, so it's really just a regular fan, hidden, with a neat-looking blower system that apparently helps speed up the air, making up for the airflow lost by taking it in secretly and having the fan hidden.
It's probably nice for an office or bedroom, something to look at. But the main thing is it's not a new 'type' of fan and it's not going to replace any existing fans in industrial/consumer good applications. - morcheeba, on 10/13/2009, -0/+54you get two cats.
- thirdeyeopen, on 10/13/2009, -2/+55As a musician, I definitely prefer that my fans do not have blades.
- gitargr8, on 10/13/2009, -1/+49Not sure why you're getting dugg down, I think it's misleading to say that this fan has no blades, when obviously there is some sort of mechanism in the base to pressurize the blower.
- dsmx, on 10/13/2009, -5/+51Actually this invention both sucks and blows.
- Galume, on 10/13/2009, -0/+45If I can't talk through it and make the choppy-voice effect I'm not interested....
- ryancawdor, on 10/14/2009, -0/+44Corrected article title: "Clever New Fan Has No (Visible) Blades"
- morcheeba, on 10/13/2009, -0/+41In any outlet that's on the same electrical circuit as the fan - with this technology, you don't need to be near the fan to turn it off; you can be across the room!
- js281, on 10/13/2009, -12/+53I'm pretty sure I can find plenty of fans that cost $300...
I quite like Dyson products, the vacuum cleaners are well worth the extra money if you ask me, over the cheap crap you can get for next to nothing. - IllBeBack, on 10/14/2009, -0/+40At the center is wondrous, creamy nougat.
- telekid, on 10/13/2009, -1/+40The first time I read your comment, I thought you wanted a midget to follow you around with a facepalm. Now that would be cool.
- chuckDontSurf, on 10/13/2009, -0/+38Or talk into to make your voice sound all weird.
- m0og0o, on 10/13/2009, -1/+39Tennessee. Louisiana is in fact on the ocean believe it or not.
- Nerys, on 10/13/2009, -1/+39you got ripped those are usually on sale for $9.77
- FDisk, on 10/13/2009, -0/+37Don't tell me how to wear my bracelets.
- rugabug, on 10/13/2009, -0/+36A pump still has blades or pistons. Either way it has moving parts that need to be covered.
- inactive, on 10/14/2009, -0/+36phew, I thought I missed something in aerodynamics class...I was like, "*****, I work in aerospace and I can't figure out how that thing would drive air", and here, there's an impeller in the base lol
- theundone, on 10/13/2009, -1/+36Actually, the impeller is just a smaller version of the fan itself. Like the Russian nesting dolls. I have no idea what's at the center, though.
- ikillpeoplexx, on 10/14/2009, -1/+35AN OPINION ON VACCUMS
- gilbes, on 10/13/2009, -1/+33Well except it does have blades.
It uses am impeller, and impellers have blades. - andyb747, on 10/13/2009, -16/+48
This guy creeps me out a little. -
